She cries out of excitement, Not thinking about harming her anymore. Shayne who hated Charlotte with no boundaries is now embracing Charlotte. She doesn't care about DNA tests. Doesn't care if Charlotte happens not to be her sister after the DNA test. She got to imagine and got to face someone who may be her sister.
Shayne never got to see her parents after that night. She was only 6 back then when she said goodbye to her parents without knowing it would be a forever goodbye. She loved her sister so much. Her four-year-old sister's birthday was that night. She waited, she knew her parents would leave for an urgent meeting and they might not take her with them.
Since she was used to being left home with her grandparents because of work. She wasn't whining to join them. However, she wished to leave with them to explore a new city.
" So, Charlotte! How is Edward treating you?" Shayne asked, pouring the hot tea into Charlotte's cup.
Charlotte looks at her, aware that Shayne has been in love with her husband.." He is quite a generous person and yeah. He is great!"
Her tinted face shows how she thinks about Edward. However, her attention once again goes to her sister who hums nonchalantly.
" How long are you in love with him? Sis.."
Shayne didn't expect her to ask this question. She smiles, sipping her tea.." It's been a decade, I have been loving him. But he never thought of me the way I thought of.."
" For ten years? Why didn't you confess to him? Judging by his nature, he would have at least considered your feelings." Charlotte indeed felt a squeeze in her heart. However, she was too shocked to care about it now.
" I thought I would once I have myself ready. But someone else stole him from me ." Shayne looks at her sister with another bitter smile.
Charlotte didn't understand. So, she points to herself, but making her heart beat faster, Shayne shakes her head as No.
" You are just his responsibility, not his love. Charlotte. Don't think that I am saying this out of jealousy. I will kill myself if needed for your happiness. But Edward has his lover who he loves so dearly." Shayne sounds serious, her eyes tell that she is not joking.
" He. He loves someone else. " Her voice cracks in the middle as air is lumping into her throat. An uncertain yet silent pain squeezes her heart into her brain. She didn't expect it.
" Edward can be able to walk. But he thinks he is paying for hurting his girlfriend. To be honest, she was the one who was driving and I was the one who caused the accident.."
Charlotte is now staring at Shayne who is saying something which doesn't make sense. Her entire words are processing Charlotte's brain.
Shayne notices her sister's widely opened mouth with her tilted head. She is indeed out of ideas about what she is talking about. Letting out a soft chuckle, Shayne places the cup of tea on the wooden table and looks at her with a serious expression.
" Have you felt something wrong with your body? Charlotte! Like dizziness and lightheadedness. Sometimes having rashes like allergies.."
As she asked, Charlotte just nodded her head multiple times. she can't just imagine anything about Shayne. Although she hated her for accusing her. But now she feels better with her.
" I drugged you. I ordered one of the servants to use cocaine in your coffee. This is the effect. I did the same to her as well. That girl was a black lotus. But Edward loved her so dearly. All I could think was that I should get rid of her. I had no one but him. But she stole him.."
She confessed with a straight face. She is not holding back from confessing her wrongdoing.
" Sis. You are lying right!" Charlotte asked with a heavy heart. She can't believe what she is hearing.
" I am not. Charlotte. No matter what. I did those. Now Edward has you. That's why I wanted to get rid of you as well. But I think it's time for me to stop. But all I wish is that, don't fall in love with him until he tells you that he loves you. Remember, Edward is a man of words. He once said he would accept someone in his life to move on but would never love as same as his previous girlfriend. He may use you to move on but you will get hurt if you love him so much.." She warns in a soft tone. Her eyes gloss proving how much she has loved him over those years.
" Where is the girl now? Is she okay?" Charlotte asks, being Intrigued. She wants to know more about Edward and what happened to him in the past.
" We all know that she had died but unexpectedly we never got her body. The car fell right into the river. Edward was unconscious when we found him. He got hurt in his knees but refused to get treatment for this. And that girl. She wasn't found. So her family announced her as dead."
Charlotte's head hanging down, looks at the woods which are burning constantly. Her mind is blank, sometimes thinking what if the girl isn't dead and somewhere else? What will happen if she comes back to Edward's life? All the questions abruptly erupt in her mind.
She doesn't like those questions. Edward becomes a very important person in her life with whom she has already planned to spend her life forever. She may not be in love with him but she already accepted him as her husband.
Will he leave her if that girl returns? She bites her bottom lip to suppress the inner pain. Not allowing her heart to overthink. It's her family, She is the mother of Suzy and his legal wife. She won't let anyone take it away.
" She is dead, right?"
" Do you wish her to" Shayne understands her sister's fear.
" No. I don't want her to be dead but I don't want her to return. I don't think I can able to love myself once again like I do now. He helped me to find myself. I started loving myself after marrying him. He is too precious to let go.."
" What if she comes back? What if He finds her somewhere? And. What if she is the right one for him.."
A few droplets of tears subconsciously fall into the firewood. Shayne startles and panics seeing Charlotte being stoned right away. At that time, she found herself once again in Charlotte's eyes when she first saw Edward kissing another girl and she hopelessly watched them.
Is her sister going to get the same fate?
No, She won't let it happen. Since she committed a crime. If miraculously that girl returns, she will kill her by herself.
