Louisa's POV
The maids came forward. Two of them held me by my arms and one of them grabbed my hair.
Josephine walked towards me with a pair of scissors in her hand.
I tried to break away from the maids. But Josephine slapped me and said, "Don't struggle, bitch! If you dare to move, I will cut off your ears instead!"
At that time, a small dash of white light flashed in front of my eyes.
Then, I saw a white weasel stepping on Josephine's face, and biting her nose.
It was Snow! She was supposed to be with Will! Why is she here? I thought to myself.
Josephine started to scream in pain at the top of her lungs.
"No! Snow! Don't bite! Come down right now!" I said.
Snow turned her head back and looked at me with her big round eyes.
"But she wanted to hurt you!" She said with a grievance.
"Come here!" I raised my voice.
Snow got off Josephine's face and jumped on my shoulder, wrapping around my neck.
I sensed that her body was trembling as well. It seemed that she realized that she had made a huge mistake.
Josephine covered her nose and shouted, "No! My nose! It's bleeding! That damn rat bit my nose! I will kill you!"
Josephine said while jumping at me, holding the scissors in her hands as a weapon.
She was immediately stopped by my personal guards.
Her maids wanted to help her to break loose, but they couldn't fight with the guards.
"Lady Josephine, this is enough," Mick said while holding her down.
"Miss Josephine has done nothing to you. Just leave her alone!" Lynel said.
"She has stolen Lucas from me! She's a thief and now she hurts my nose!" Josephine screeched and kicked her legs at me.
Just when I was about to tell the guards to let Josephine go, I saw Lucian walk into the tent.
He took a glance at Josephine, whose nose was bleeding badly, and said, "Guards, let Lady Josephine go."
Mick pointed to the pair of scissors which dropped on the floor.
"But Beta, she's about to kill Miss Louisa with that," he said.
Lucian kicked the scissors away and said, "She's bleeding. Let go of her. Now."
"Yes, Beta." My personal guards said and stepped back.
Josephine dropped to the floor like a sack of beans with tears bouncing out of her eye sockets.
Crying like a vixen, she pointed at me and said, "It's all your fault! You've stolen my man and destroyed my face! I will never be beautiful again!"
Lucian held her up, lowered his head, and checked the wound on her nose.
"Don't look at me! I'm so ugly!" Josephine covered her face.
Lucian didn't listen to her. He held Josephine's hands in his hands, looked at her, and said in a tranquilizing voice, "Don't worry, Jo. It's just a bit of a scratch. You will still be a beautiful little girl after the doctor applied some ointment to it."
Josephine looked as if she was overwhelmed by the strike of tenderness coming from Lucian. She immediately stopped crying and acted like a spoiled child, leaning against Lucian's chest while holding his neck.
"Are you sure, Lucian?" Josephine started to talk like a three-year-old. "I can't feel my legs right now! I might need you to carry me back to my tent."
"Of course, Jo." Lucian carried her up in his arms and said.
Josephine leered at me and said, "Lucian, I heard that you're going to take that horrible girl to the Grand Ball tonight. If you take me to the ball tonight, I'll be very happy to dance with you all night. At the same time, you can protect me from all those bad people."
"Jo, I thought you were about to go to the ball with your uncle, Alpha Dire," Lucian said. "If I take you to the ball, Miss Louisa won't be able to go. She doesn't have an invitation."
"Don't worry about her, Lucian. I'm sure she'll understand. A girl that is as low as her isn't supposed to show up on such a glorious social occasion like that," Josephine said with a grin. "I know my uncle wants to bring me to the ball, but I've changed my mind. I just want to be your plus one."
Lucian looked a bit hesitant. He took a glance at me.
Josephine turned his head towards her and said, "Come on, you said no to me when my cousin Kylo asked if you wanted to marry me. You can't say no to me again. If you don't want to go with me, I might think that you don't want to lose face because I became ugly due to the injury to my nose!"
Lucian sighed and said, "OK, Jo. I can take you to the ball, but I can't dance with you all night. I have some very important duties to perform."
Josephine stared at Lucian with affection and said, "OK. I totally understand. You know that I'm always a thoughtful girl. Gianna used to tell me that I should be more selfish, or else I'll get hurt. I really wish I could have been more selfish, you know..."
Josephine bit her lips and stopped.
Then, she turned her head away from Lucian, dramatically covered her forehead with her hand, and said, "... but I just couldn't. So Gianna is right. I'm the only one that gets hurt and it's just so painful..."
Lucian looked at her and said, "Jo, you are kind and beautiful as always. I want you to know that I really appreciate that. Now, let's get you treated and dressed up before going to the Grand Ball."
Lucian said as he walked out of the tent with Josephine in his arms.
Josephine smiled at Lucian and gave me a dark look.
"This isn't over," She mouthed at me silently with an evil smile on her face.
Mick helped me to get back to my feet and said, "Sorry, Miss Louisa. We shouldn't let her get into the tent."
"Don't worry about it, Mick. It was me who let her in. I'm sorry for the inconvenience that I caused," I said.
"You know what," I looked at the guards' concerned faces while tying up my hair, "I'm going to cook for all of you tonight. I'm not going anywhere. We're going to throw our own party here at the camp. What would you like to eat? Some barbeque chicken, maybe?"
"Miss Louisa, you're too kind. You really don't have to..." Mick said.
"I insist," I said.
I had to find an effective way to offset the bitter sadness and disappointment of not being able to go to the Grand Ball with Lucian and dance with Lucas.
Nothing works better than cooking.
