Lexi had seen and felt everything despite the paralysis that had gripped her after Ely had injected her with that despicable cocktail that filled his syringe.
The searing pain that had flooded her was so exquisite it had almost robbed her of her ability to breathe, but it didn't distract from the pain that tore through her heart as she watched helplessly as her mates fought to reach her.
She had wanted to unleash her soul's powers and consume the bastards that had dared to deceive her in this way. Fuck diplomacy, they deserved a gloriously painful death but this stupid bauble that hung around her neck prevented her from doing that.
When she realized that she was powerless to stop Narcissa from taking her, she had wanted to scream that she was sorry…to tell Greyson and Allen not to risk themselves in following her because the pain that filled her heart was laced with fear. The fear of what Eromaug might do to them if he realizes that she belongs to them…and they to her.
But none of that was possible.
Now, she screamed silently to herself, the cocktail of drugs still affecting her as she was dragged carelessly by her hair through the humid, stone caverns that seemed to go on forever.
"I know you're aware of everything despite your inability to react, you little whore," Narcissa hissed as she stomped angrily forward, "But I want you to know that you'll never leave here because my lord wills it."
Lexi could feel the anger rolling off her, and it gave her a small sense of satisfaction to know that despite not being able to actively cause her problems right now, it was evident that the mere fact she was present here was causing Narcissa severe problems.
"Do you have any idea what it's been like since you and your little fucking queen foiled his plans and made me look incompetent?" She continued, dragging her over a sharp outcropping of stone that she could have avoided if she wanted, but clearly chose not to.
The smile on her face as a fresh trail of blood began to trickle behind them as they walked let Lexi know that it was deliberate.
"My hands are fucking tied for a lot of things, but rest assured I am going to make your time here as unpleasant as fucking possible, do you hear me? Despite his plans for you, I can still get my revenge and see as how I have been gifted a life of death in his infinite wisdom…well…wraiths live forever my dear…and so does the vengeance that burns in my fucking cold dead heart."
Narcissa let go of Lexi's hair abruptly, her head dropping like a stone and the back of her skull smashing into the stone below as Narcissa sighed in irritation.
"Why I'm suddenly the fucking errand girl…one mistake that wasn't even my fault…and those fucking craven Lycans…" she muttered furiously to herself as the sound of stone grating echoed around the cavernous passageways and she made a noise of disgust shortly before Lexi felt the presence of tiny feet running all over her body.
"Ugh! For fucks sake! Off! GET OFF! Do you want the lord to incinerate you all?! Fucking imps! Get out! Shoo!" She flapped her hands in irritation over Lexi's motionless body as the feet scampered away into the distance, accompanied by excitable squeaks.
Narcissa's fingers wrapped around Lexi's hair again as she felt her body begin to move again. She found herself dragged through the doorway, over the heavy stone door sill that jutted out of the already uneven floor, into a smaller room that smelled strongly of pungent herbs.
Her head dropped painfully to the ground again as Narcissa's footsteps moved away from her and she heard another door open.
"Well don't just fucking stand there you useless creature! Get her onto the table! It was bad enough that I had to drag her here myself. I still need to fuse the amulet to her bones and I don't have long until Ely's little concoction wears off."
"I wouldn't worry about that sister…I have plenty more where that came from." Ely's slimy voice slithered through the doorway as Lexi's heart seemed to pick up speed again.
"Ugh what are you doing here? I thought you'd shack up somewhere with your latest toy until you got bored of her." Narcissa answered in disgust as the sound of heavy footsteps shuffled towards Lexi just out of sight and the clattering of objects in Narcissa's direction drifted around her.
"Up there? With her mates on the rampage?" Ely snorted in disbelief, "No, I don't think so. I can play with her down here where there's less chance of having her taken from me…or of me meeting an untimely end." He sniffed loudly.
Lexi heard Narcissa's tongue click disapprovingly as a curious face came into view above her.
If Lexi could frown, she would have done so, because although this face seemed familiar, she couldn't place it. The man's skin held a faint purplish hue to it and it's deep set, reptilian eyes sat proudly under it's brows, surrounded by a barely noticeable pattern that resembled scales.
Whatever it was, or it's intentions toward her, in that moment, Lexi wasn't afraid. It studied her curiously, cocking its head as its inner lids slid across its eyes before it was brought abruptly out of it's curiosity with a glass vial shattering on the side of it's head.
The creature chirruped in surprise and a flicker of irritation crossed it's eyes as it glanced in the direction that the val had been thrown from.
"She isn't here to look at you pathetic reject!" Narcissa hissed angrily, "Get that lifeless whore on the fucking table now!"
Lexi had no choice but to stare up at the broad chest of the creature that bent over her to lift her and it's chest rumbled almost soothingly as she felt herself lifted gently, cradled in its arms as she was carried across to the table.
They placed her down gently, body first and carefully lowered her head onto the hard surface below, before flashing her an almost apologetic look, shifting uncomfortably as it looked down at her.
Lexi wasn't stupid, whatever this creature was, it was clear that Narcissa had some means of controlling it so that it didn't lash out, otherwise she was sure that it would have decimated this place, and Narcissa and her despicable brother alongside it.
Its gaze softened as it looked down at her, almost as if it had understood her feelings and for a split second, Lexi was struck by confusion.
Surely it hadn't understood her emotions?
But before she could think on it anymore, the creature was shoved unceremoniously to the side as Narcissa appeared in view above her again.
"Well then," She simpered happily, "I'd say this wasn't going to hurt but I'd be lying." She tittered as she flourished a blade excitedly above her, leaning in to peer closely at Lexi and lowering her voice sinisterly.
"I know you can hear me you little bitch, and I know that you can feel everything, so I am going to make sure this is as painful as possible for you. My lord wants you bound while you are here so that there isn't any funny business and for that, I am going to seal your souls and fuse this amulet inside of your sternum."
To say that Lexi felt sick would be an understatement. If her souls were sealed in this way…there was no guarantee that she would ever be able to break free from here.
If her souls couldn't reach out…her father would never be able to find her…no matter how hard he looked.
