Narcissa swallowed nervously as she looked up at the stone cold mask that her terrifying lord now wore on his face.
She really hadn't wanted to offer up the fleabags to him just yet, she had intended to use them as leverage over Lexi whenever the need may have arisen in the future, but as it stood now, she had little choice. Her life…or rather un-life as a wraith was all she had and she refused to lose that to an arrogant little half breed.
"She has two souls, my lord," Narcissa began as she tried her best to hold his gaze, "From what I understand, each soul has a mate that she is bound to and they help to stop her from losing control...kind of like a fuse in a…"
"I do not need a lesson in magickal control, wraith, I am born of it," Eromaug snarled angrily as Narcissa flinched backwards.
"Yes, my lord. Sorry, my lord. It won't happen again." She rushed out as her panic began to rise, "So, they can also help to amplify and focus her abilities, her magick. From what I can see, her souls hold the magick of her father, and all of his line who came before him, and that of her mother…Ximena…"
"Don't you fucking dare speak her name!" Lexi screamed from the throne as her knees buckled and she sank to the floor, bordering on the edge of tears as she clutched her chest.
Eromaug flinched slightly at the sound of her knees hitting the solid stone floor, but he didn't turn, although Narcissa noticed the briefest flicker of pain and regret in his eyes before it disappeared completely.
"Ximena is…her magick, that is…" Narcissa corrected herself quickly, knowing that Eromaug did not want to reveal to Lexi just yet that her mother was here, and alive, "It's almost identical to Hecate's old magick. The last of it's kind I believe."
Eromaug said nothing, but his cold fury had abated slightly, and his aura was tinged with interest. The years that Narcissa had spent testing Ximena's limits had revealed a lot, and not once had Eromaug ever inquired about her. He was content that she still lived. It didn't matter what state of health she was in, it was irrelevant to his needs and for once, Narcissa felt as though she had earned herself some major points in his view of her.
"So you see, knowing the capabilities of the two Daemon Lords, whose power is normally at odds with each other, how could I not act in sealing them?"
Eromaug hummed thoughtfully as his eyes lifted from Narcissa and stared blankly into one of the braziers along the wall. Narcissa breathed a sigh of relief at the brief reprieve from his attention.
"Yet, instead of coming to me, and discussing your concerns, you butchered her…" He rumbled unhappily.
"If there was any other choice, my lord, then I would have taken it. But I am positive that her father would be able to track her as she shares his blood…her mates too. One is a Lycan, another merely a wolf shifter but still, their tracking abilities for their mates are renowned the world over and…" Narcissa paused briefly, tilting her chin proudly and defiantly towards her master, "And you have both of her mates, sitting in the dungeons below, awaiting your decision."
Eromaug's gaze whipped back to Narcissa instantly, a spark of surprise still caught on his brow.
"You have them?" He asked in disbelief as Narcissa nodded.
"I do. They followed her through the portal a little while after I retrieved her and.."
"Ah," Eromaug sighed, the disappointment clear in his tone, "I should have known that you wouldn't have been this organized or forward thinking."
Narcissa swallowed the rebuke without argument. If it were anyone else she would have
Given them a lesson in just how forward thinking she could be, but when it came to Lord Eromaug, only perfection would do.
"Very well," Eromaug nodded suddenly, "IT seems as though you had a legitimate reason for mutilating her."
Narcissa felt her shoulders sag slightly as a smile began to form on her face.
"However," Eromaug continued as that same smile froze in place, "Yo didn't care for the wound properly and now it festers. You left the aftercare to a halfwit offspring of her soul dragon, half addled on whatever it is that you and your freak of a brother feed it to keep it compliant and as such, you have risked her life, and that of any future children she will carry for me when I breed her."
"I'm not a fucking brood mare!" Lexi objected weakly as she fought against her body's desire to sleep.
Eromaug turned and seeing the sight of her, he sighed heavily, making his way over to her and crouching at her side.
"Why do you have to make things so difficult, Lexi?" He murmured, "You were mine, I do not share..you know this!"
"Fuck you." Lexi spat as she rested her head on the cold stone behind her, "And for your information, Bella's child is called Orynn. He's the only reason that I am still alive…you should…treat him better…"
Eromaug's brow creased in consternation as he looked across at Narcissa.
"Your dragonling is now my Queen's personal servant. Make sure that he has everything ready to move to our apartments."
Lexi burst out laughing as her head lolled to one side weakly.
"Joke's on you fuck face! Orynn doesn't own any possessions because Narcissa is a miserly whore!" She cackled, "Imagine…being undead and having nothing to show for your life apart from a few miserable bottles of assorted body parts."
Narcissa glowered furiously at Lexi's near delirious form but Eromaug did nothing to correct her, instead, he laughed along with her.
"Sort your dragonling Narcissa, and prepare the shifters so that I can meet these so-called mates." Eromaug said nonchalantly hoping that Lexi wouldn't grasp his intent, but she wasn't stupid and as soon as her mates were mentioned her hands flew up to grip his arm and she looked up at him wide eyed.
"You can't hurt them, Uncle!" She begged, "Please…at least let them live...I'll never see them again if that's what you want but without them…you know as well as I do that my souls will be destroyed."
Eromaug's mouth settled into a thin line as he forced himself not to stare at her tiny little hands against his monstrous forearms.
"We will see, little one." He murmured as he scooped her up once more in his arms and began to make his way to his bedroom.
Finally, after all this time, his mate, his Eternal would be right where she belonged.
