Gabriel and Ethan just rounded off the early morning duties together and decided to drive to town to get some groceries and vegetables from the local market. It was a sunny morning,so they had their sunshades on and Gabriel complained that his skin may be sunburned.
"This heat is definitely gonna leave some of its unwanted presence on my skin",he whined.
Ethan chuckled lightly at his statement,then said, "Ahh..it's not that serious. Truth be told,we both know a little Vitamin D wouldn't hurt".
Gabriel feigned shock at Ethan's statement. He turned and gave a goofy look which made the duo laugh. Ethan was an introvert and it was only Gabriel and the Alpha, Gabriel's dad who had seen his weak side. He rarely made jokes or even comments at public spaces.
However,his face was a kill-for. He was well built like Gabriel only,that he was slimmer and had sexy slightly bowed legs. It was rumored that he was once rejected but nobody knew for a fact. Gabriel knew him well,the truth was that Ethan hadn't found a mate yet.
All he did was train new wolves as he was the assistant to the Alpha. Ethan was a shy one so he spent all his time training and making sure there were no attacks on any member of the pack.
"So, Ethan", Gabriel began. "Have you ever thought about being with anyone?". "I know you haven't met your mate yet but does any of the ladies interest you?", Gabriel asked, avoiding a young boy who held a large basket of tomatoes.
"I'm not sure I'm a popular item for the ladies as some of us are", Ethan replied meekly, giving Gabriel a knowing look. A woman called his attention to freshly chopped chicken and he politely declined.
"C'mon! You know what I mean. Besides you wouldn't dare lie to me that you don't hear the gossip about the eligible but yet quiet Beta,who pays no attention to the hot single ladies", Gabriel protested folding his arms and facing him squarely.
Ethan flushed at that comment and wanted to object when suddenly they felt a tense air around them. Their senses filtered the loud noises from the sellers and buyers and the loud honking of the cars and buses by the road.
Then they both heard a faint breathing and they caught the scent of an unfamiliar presence. The market was busy and it was hard to detect from the many faces in the crowd.
"Do you feel that", Gabriel asked Ethan who nodded in affirmation.
"There's a new presence here and it's none that we have come across before. We need to find out and know for sure that it doesn't breed danger to us", Gabriel spat with a serious tone.
He advised they move to a secluded part of the market and both join their senses together, to be able to identify this presence. Ethan pretended that he was trying to buy some spices at the left corner of the market while Gabriel positioned himself at the right corner, where a young boy sold fresh rose flowers.
Ethan gave Gabriel a look that he was ready and on Gabriel's signal,they both joined their senses and filtered the noises. This time,the faint breathing was clearer and it was feminine. They tried harder with the scent and they traced the breathing and the scent to a vendor's stand across the market.
Immediately, they moved in that direction and they found a beautiful young lady in her twenties. She had a scarf around her neck and she looked lost. Ethan admonished that they shouldn't both go to her,as it would spike fear and likely she may not be able to control her powers and if that happened they all would be exposed.
So as Alpha to-be, Gabriel approached her and spoke calmly to her. She had sensed his presence too and she knew he was an Alpha.
"I mean no harm. Are you okay? What are you doing here?", Gabriel asked.
"I'm fine. I traveled from a far away land and was looking for a place to settle",she replied, looking around as if something was coming for her.
"It's okay. I'm an Alpha to-be and my name is Gabriel. I came with my Betta to buy things that we need. If you don't mind, you can follow us and we'll talk from there", Gabriel suggested.
"Yes..yes please. My name is Accalia",she said bowing discreetly.
"Come with me. That guy over there is the Beta. He's with me,so walk to him let me grab the groceries so we leave immediately", Gabriel said pointing at Ethan.
He looked steadily at Ethan and sent some mind messages to Ethan,as Accalia walked towards him. "Lead her to the car. Let me get everything we need. Would join you both soon".
Accalia walked speedily to where Ethan stood and immediately they met, their both senses connected. Ethan jerked and held Accalia for balance as their both senses intertwined for some seconds. He felt her thoughts and could read her mind. She, too, penetrated into his mind and for the first time,he felt a feminine presence in his thoughts. Ethan opened his eyes and stared at Accalia in shock before saying, "It can't be".
Gathering courage, Ethan took his hands off Accalia immediately and walked in front of her, avoiding eye contact with her as he led her to the car parked by the road. Accalia helped herself to the back of the car and smiled quietly to herself.
"What just happened? Something magical just happened to her and it had never happened. She had heard these types of things happened when..when..oh my goodness. Could he be..?"
The loud bang of the driver's seat door closing shook Accalia away from her thoughts. Gabriel adjusted the rear mirror to have a better look at her. The scarf wrapped around her neck had loosened, leaving her full brown hair in view. She had long eyelashes and green eyes. No need asking,she was definitely from a rare breed of werewolves.
"Are you okay? Do you need anything?", Gabriel asked with concern.
Accalia didn't say a word,she just shook her head and gave a long and tired yawn. Gabriel knew she was tired and hungry from the eyebags on her face. Turning the ignition, Gabriel got the car moving. He looked briefly at his side where Ethan sat quietly.
Gabriel didn't feel anything amiss,as Ethan was known to be very quiet when he was in the midst of people or someone he barely knew. However,he felt an air of familiarity. One that was known when two people joined, nonetheless,he dismissed it and veered the car on the road,set for home.
The ride was a long and thoughtful one. Gabriel wondered what and why they came across another werewolf at this season of the year. Most werewolves who migrated were known to do that at the beginning of the year not in the middle of it.
"What was he missing?" and "Why was a female werewolf leaving home in a breeding season?", Gabriel thought,as he gave a brief look at Accalia at the back, who was sleeping peacefully.
Several minutes later, Gabriel drove into the town and he saw some of his people going about their different businesses. Immediately,his presence was felt,as usual his pack felt another presence with them. They stared long and hard at his car as it drove further into town.
The low hump of the turned-off ignition jerked Accalia up from sleep. She sat up and peered at the window, trying to ascertain the environment. Rachel and Helen were tending the flower-bed when they caught a whiff of an unfamiliar female.
As a future Luna, Rachel took brisk steps to Gabriel,while Ethan bowed and gave them some privacy.
"What have you done?", Rachel questioned
"I can explain and I will explain everything to you my love,all I need you to do for me right now,is help me take her to a safe place and execute those beautiful Luna duties, you are known for", Gabriel said calmly, giving her shoulder a light massage.
"But . you..", Rachel tried to protest but with one final look from Gabriel,she kept quiet.
"Her name is Accalia. I'll get back for her. Let me alert the Alpha and the council of elders", Gabriel said, giving Ethan a gesture that they should find the Alpha immediately.
Rachel nodded and was soon joined by Helen who looked as puzzled as she was.
Helen and Rachel watched at Ethan and Gabriel's receding figure towards the Alpha's home. Rachel gave a long sigh and moved to the back of the vehicle to meet the stranger. Before she could stretch to open the door,the door swung open with a little bit of force and Accalia stepped out.
Helen watched with surprise as the scarf let go revealing one of the prettiest females she had seen. She had a slim figure and large green eyes. Her nose was roman-shaped and it gave a flattering compliment to her full,red lips.
Obviously,she was still in oblivion of where she was because her eyelashes fluttered to take in the new environment. Accalia didn't look perturbed as most new migrants did. As a matter of fact,she looked like she was happy she found herself here.
"Mmmm..", Rachel cleared her throat in a bid to get the new lady's attention. "My name is Rachel and I'm Luna. This is Helen", Rachel said, pointing to Helen who didn't bat an eyelid running her eyes on the newcomer.
"Umm.. Thank you. I mean no harm please. My name is Accalia. I just wanted to leave home and find peace away", Accalia said, almost regretting her words.
"Peace? Is something wrong",Helen fired at her
"Oh..no..not at all. That didn't come out right. I meant to say try other environments. I'm a good traveler", Accalia lied.
Rachel wanted to ask more questions but she didn't want to seem rude besides,soon the Alpha would send for her. So it's best for her to reserve her strength. Accalia too, didn't want to entertain any more questions,so she feigned a yawn and hugged herself close like she was cold.
"Forgive my manners. Please follow me", Rachel said, offering to help her with a bag but Accalia politely declined.
"Don't mind the looks from the village. It's because you are new. As long as you mean no harm, they'll all get to like you",Helen said as they passed a bunch of women who gave curious looks at Accalia.
Accalia nodded shyly and Helen continued in her tale. "It was almost the same when I came",she added.
Accalia looked up at Helen when she said that. "Really? You're not originally from this pack?", Accalia asked her first question.
"Hahahaha! There's nothing like the original deer. As long as the Alpha accepts you, you become an original. And yes to answer your question,I wasn't a member of this pack at first. The only difference between me and you,my darling, is that my late uncle was a Beta",Helen explained, giving her a friendly wink.
