The D-day arrived in no time and everything had gone as planned. The halls were decorated with beautiful white flowers and it looked angelic. Alpha Max's pack were thrilled to have a happy ceremony again after ages.
Everyone was in their best behavior and the town was thick with guests, arriving for the royal celebrations. All the Alphas from the surrounding kingdoms were invited, including the Alpha that rejected Helen.
Alpha Bruno was the one who rejected Helen even when she was his destined mate. A werewolf has just one destined mate, however some werewolves are blessed by fate with a second-chance mate.
Werewolves who have lost their partners can either choose randomly or will get another chance,if the spirit of their late partner marks another person as a second-chance mate.
Although it's rare,the spirit of a late partner, immediately it breathes his or her last, moves around the kingdoms, searching for a pure soul whose heart is kind and marks it before its body is decomposed.
Some seers in the pack claimed that Nexella's spirit marked Helen before her final rest. Whichever The case was, Helen was thankful she was blessed with another chance in Alpha Max's life, because he was everything she had wished for in a mate.
Two days earlier before the ceremony,Max called her in and notified her that their pack hadn't had a large ceremony in years and wanted to make their great one. Being a party person, Helen was excited. She had always loved a party with a crowd of dignitaries and royalties.
"! I love it baby", Helen cooed excitedly like a child.
"So we've already sent invitations to the kingdoms around and I thought I should let you know about this particular invitation, before I approve it to be sent", Alpha Max said calmly.
"Okay?"Helen asked, expressing uncertainty.
"Okay. The invitation is for Alpha Bruno and his pack",Max replied, watching out for her reactions.
"Alpha Bruno..why does that name sound.. familiar? Oh no..no..no..", Helen screamed in protest.
"Baby...baby,I don't mean to pressure you but I only asked because he has been patronizing my artworks and other things for years. I didn't even know he was Bruno. If you don't want him,fine. I'll refuse his invitation. I only asked because his pack members are our friends too. And you can't invite the pack without the Alpha",Max explained,calming her down.
"Then don't invite them. He rejected me. Saw me unworthy and embarrassed me. I was aching in my heart for years because of him. No! No!" Helen argued.
"I understand you baby,I do",Max said.
"No you don't! What if I had died? What if I became a monster of myself? Would he show his miserable face at my ceremony? I don't want him and that's it", Helen said and walked to the window, crying.
Max walked slowly to her and placed his hands on her shoulder. She shoved it off but Max was persistent until she gave up and sobbed quietly.
"Helen,I'm certain you are a jewel and everyone would kill to have you. You're mine and I don't mind flaunting you to the world that it's you. I would stand before the seas,rivers,ocean and fire to prove my love for you".
If you don't want him at our wedding,it's fine. But if somehow, you accept and he shows up,I'm certain he'll regret ever letting you go. Just so you know,I'm somewhat happy he rejected you",Max said with a shrug.
"What?", Helen asked shockingly and turned to face him,with a frown.
"Oh yes I am. How do you explain to me what would have become of me without you? Or Adam? Our pack?. I'm grateful you were there when I found you. So,yes I'm happy he rejected a diamond because the diamond chose me and became my most treasured jewelry",Alpha Max said lovingly.
"Oh my love. I'm so sorry I shouted at you. I love you too",Helen said, throwing her hands on him.
"It's okay my darling. You helped me deal with a lot of things and I'll never leave you in your pain. Never!",Max assured her.
"I'm happy too,that I get to be your Queen. You are the one I've envisioned since when I was a child. I only thought it was the first. Didn't know that fate chose the second for me. I love you", Helen said looking into Max's eyes.
"So..?","Max drawled.
"Yea..yea.. you can invite the world to witness our affirmation of love to each other", Helen screamed excitedly.
"That's more like it, baby. Can't wait for this to be over so I can lay myself on you without interruptions from anyone",Max said, lifting her up as he kissed her.
And so it was, literally the whole werewolf world was invited to the joining of Helen and Max. The Northern pack were excited and everyone else looked forward to meeting the new Luna of the Northern kingdom. Her beauty and curves made her most popular.
Ethan's POV
Everyone had gone to attend the famous wedding of the Northern Alpha and Helen. Helen and Max have been great friends to me and I would have loved to be a part of their love story but I couldn't leave Accalia by herself,with no one to cater for her.
The town had expected Accalia to be awake at least before the wedding but still she laid motionless for over two weeks. I tarried,cried and begged but she didn't hear my voice. Some people had started giving up on her,apart from Helen,Max, Rachel, Gabriel and the old Alpha.
Another special person that never stopped visiting was the kind freckled-face girl Eunice and her mother Vera. Lady Belle,Accalia's landlady always visited too with flowers and delicious bread buns.
I had lost appetite for food but Lady Belle's bread buns was the only thing on my menu. Once I heard that Penney had requested to visit Accalia but I refused vehemently. I know that someday the greyhounds may have found Accalia but I was furious that a pack member and my supposed friend would work with them.
Dejectedly,I sat by Accalia's bed holding her hand when I felt a tightened grip on my hand. I almost ignored the strange reaction and was about to shrug my hands off when I realized that the grip was from Accalia.
My pulse heightened and my heart stopped for a second. I stared at Accalia's body in shock,and for the first time in weeks,I saw her hold my hands.
"Ethan?",her mouth moved and words flew out. Her eyes were still closed and I melted in happiness.
"Accalia? Is that your voice I hear?",I asked back in shock, too excited to scream.
She didn't say anything else for some seconds then slowly,she opened her eyes, flinching at the brightness from the sunlight that shone from the window.
"Why is everywhere quiet?",she asked, looking at me intently.
My joy held no bounds. I screamed and shrieked all at once. I felt the adrenaline in my body rush like it was in a wild chase. My Accalia was awake and talking. I looked at her through my tearfilled eyes and she smiled warmly.
"Hey baby! Tell me you've eaten while I was away?",she asked.
"I..I..was scared I lost you, baby. You are my everything. We..hoped",I said choking with tears.
"Wwwnnn! Come here my love. I missed you too. It was my first time changing and I'm sure you saw the type of werewolf,I ...",she tried to say but I interrupted.
