The night was a long one as the Gammas and Helen who knew all the herbs and magic spells worked tirelessly to revive Accalia. Helen pleaded with Max to get Adam home to get some rest and he reluctantly agreed.
She was going to do her best in ensuring her friend was well. While Helen began mixing the herbs and spells, Rachel made sure that Accalia was covered with thick clothes to stop the chills. She wasn't conscious but yet her temperature kept dropping rapidly.
Ethan on the other hand, turned on the heat from the fireplace and when it seemed like it wasn't helping at all,he began to make fire by her side. That seemed to work a bit,as the ice flakes on Accalia's body melted.
He didn't know what to do if something happened to Accalia and yet he didn't understand why she had to withhold the truth of who she was from him. Ethan brushed that thought away,and only focused on how she would get well.
"Dre ore ",the Gammas began to incantate.
"Dre ore ,pire ", Helen joined them to say. The spells had begun.
The others were asked to shift back from Accalia's body as they surrounded her,still saying their incantations. Accalia still lay motionless,her body had stopped convulsing but she didn't move. Ethan became frantic as to why she wasn't responding to the spells.
"What's happening? Why isn't she moving? What's wrong?", Ethan asked worriedly.
"Ethan.. please let them do their work. Be calm. I'm sure they're trying their best",Alpha Gabriel appealed to him.
"But..she.. isn't moving. You don't get..I love that girl", Ethan said emotionally.
"I know..we all do. Let's be hopeful",the old Alpha said, taking a seat by the chair at the corner of the room.
"Dre ore dayolekscon pire domore nepactus!", Helen screamed but yet no sound or movement from Accalia.
The Gammas shook their heads and took a step back from Accalia. Helen still knelt by her side, nervously pouring some more herbs and saying more spells but to no avail. She began to cry and looked up at Ethan who had his eyes clouded with emotion.
"No..no..", Ethan mouthed in pain.
"What is it, Helen?", Rachel said, rushing to Helen.
"She is in so much pain and weak state that her body is trapped in between worlds. The only way she'll feel better is if she decides to return to the world willingly", Helen said sobbing.
"It's the in-between trauma. She is the only one that can heal herself and she will only do that by healing her mind first",one of the Gammas explained.
"But she is an Omicron", Ethan fired anxiously.
"And an Omicron is weakest when they change back their form to human. With the state she is in,it's obvious this is her first time of changing and we know how deadly a first change usually is", Alpha Gabriel further explained.
"But this case is worse. She has been traumatized before and the trauma makes it hard to heal especially if she didn't heal at all",the old Alpha said.
"That ruthless monster almost destroyed her. I'm thrilled he and those slanderous greyhounds of his got what they deserved", Rachel said.
"She's a strong wolf. Let's hope she finds peace and forgiveness, somewhere in her heart. Only then,would she respond. Until then,I'm afraid there's nothing we can do",the Gamma said.
"How about we find her in the worlds in between?", Ethan asked quietly.
"What? That'll mean going to the forbidden place. Do you know how fatal that is?", Alpha Gabriel retorted.
"I can't lose her", Ethan replied solemnly.
"You will not. But I'm sure it's preferable that she heals herself first. That's the best and quickest way out of this. Look man,I understand your pain but we have to wait. All she needs now is our care and attention, so when she opens her eyes,she sees us smiling at her. You've got to be strong", Alpha Gabriel said to Ethan and hugged him.
"I love her", Ethan said, hugging Gabriel back.
"I know.. everyone in this room knows and feels the same", Gabriel said.
The ladies changed the old clothes,which had been soaked from the fallen ice flakes from Accalia's body. They brought dry and warm clothes and covered her with it, before they decided to get home and get some rest.
Everyone but Ethan left. Ethan threw more logs of wood into the fire and sat close to Accalia, watching her all night.
"Get well for me,baby. I miss you and I hold no beef against you for your past. I'm sorry that you couldn't confide in me and share your pain with me,but I'm here now and I want to be a part of everything you've gone through. I love you baby", Ethan said and tears rolled down his face.
He interlocked his fingers with Accalia's but there was no word from her. Still,she lay quietly. He ran his fingers along the outline of her beautiful face. She laid peacefully and looked beautiful. Althoughher face had turned pale and her pink lips dark but still,she was the woman Ethan fell in love with.
Ethan sat there quietly. He was in need of comfort and only Accalia could give that to him. While everyone returned to their lovers,mates and families,the one person he would have loved to be with was neither dead nor alive.
He winced in pain and groaned softly. Sleep had gone from him and even if it did show up, Ethan was determined to cheat sleep,so he could watch the love of his life. Just when he had thought,he had found peace, that monster showed up to hurt the one thing he loved most.
Alpha Gabriel had decided that there would be no patrol that night as evidently the rogue wolf,which usually terrorized in the dark, was dead. It was a stormy night and he was sure everyone needed to get some rest.
"Baby,do you think Accalia would get better?", Rachel asked Gabriel who looked drained.
"I don't know..but I know she's strong and she would love to come back to our world,if not for anyone or anything else,but because of Ethan",he replied, sitting on the edge of the bed.
Rachel walked to him and joined him, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I never knew she had gone through so much pain and abuse", Rachel said.
"Yeah..she had the sweetest smile,most sincere laugh and a kind and generous heart, unknown to us that in that beautiful heart of hers was pain and grief", Gabriel said holding his wife's hand.
"You know babe? I've never regretted approaching her that day in the local market. And that day I was crowned,I saw a vision of a rogue wolf in the inner circle,but it was killed by an Omicron and not me", Gabriel confessed.
"What? Then why didn't you tell anyone or me?", Rachel gasped in surprise.
"Because I'm the Alpha. It's my job to protect everyone. I thought that it wouldn't happen because Omicrons are almost nonexistent. Little did I know that,we had one in our midst", Gabriel said.
"I understand you baby. But you need to confide in me next time. Tell me what else did you see?", Rachel asked.
"Concerning our pack? More marriages and new births", Alpha Gabriel joked.
"Hmm..I like that one. I can't wait", Rachel said with a little smile.
"And yes..I didn't give you, your gift. Happy birthday darling",he said, presenting to her a beautifully wrapped box. She opened it and saw a pair of black diamond necklaces. Then he drew her close to himself and cuddled her to sleep.
