Rachel's P.O.V
I smirked at Debbie and she snarled as she heaved heavy breath trying to calm herself from the anger caused by my public display of love with Gabriel. I did it intentionally because I knew it would piss her off and a pissed off Debbie isn't always at the top of her game. I was using that to my advantage, I have seen Debbie fight before when she was emotional. She uses too much energy and tires herself out easily. Before she was able to lunge at me, Alpha stepped in between us smirking at what I just said to her while he held his hand up to get everyone's attention.
" We are going to keep this fight clean,the first to submit will lose. The other will be the future Luna". He yells firmly making Gabriel snarl at this.
" But Gabriel's mate is his choice". He clarifies and I blow a kiss at Gabriel, he smirks at me in response, I caught both of my parents watching me with solemn gazes, obviously worried. I tried to send them a reassuring smile, but refocused back on my opponent. She was bouncing anxiously, biting her cheek making her cheek look sunken in. It did nothing to help her already ugly face.
" Shift". Alpha yells, Debbie and I both jumped into the air,landing on our paws. I Shaked out my dark brown fur, allowing my wolf to take over. She snarls at Debbie, tired of this bitch who keeps pretending to be something she's not. She wasn't born to be a Luna.
I was.
She huffs at me, baring her teeth as she digs her claws into dirt, I pace back and forth watching her knowing her making her first move would be to my own advantage, she didn't wait for long before lunging at me trying to get her teeth around my neck. I dodge out of her way and take my claws across her back. She growls out loud at the movement. I didn't wait for her to recuperate before lunging another attack at her, getting my teeth around her neck. She rolls on her back using her back paw to kick me off, her nails digging painfully into my belly.
The scratch sting as I wait for my healing to kick in.
It only doesn't.
The pain in the claw mark only increases as the pain begins to travel through my body. I looked at them and saw them fiery red and agitated, I looked over to where Gabriel was standing and my eyes widened in fear.
" She's got silver on her claws''. I mind link him, his face curls into a snarl as his fist clenches.
" That fucking bitch, I'm stopping this fight". He links back, but I shake my head at him as I dodge another blow from Debbie.
Don't you dare, I can do this. I tell him, I can feel his concern throughout the bond but I ignore it as I continue to dodge Debbie attack.
She is fast like I already knew she was and I have to move quickly to keep away from her poisonous claws. I can't believe she would be so bold as to cheat in a fight of this importance , she will never win the pack over that way. Of course if my death was her only goal, that is the best way to achieve it. My concern turns to fear as the pain spreads through me, I see Gabriel's face darken as he feels what I was feeling . I snarl at Debbie leaping at her, clinging to her back as my teeth sinks into her shoulder. I pulled back and ripped a chunk of fur covered flesh from her. She roars in pain as she shakes me off. I carried the piece of my opponent and dropped it at the Alpha's feet. He chuckled in response before I turned back to her, pushing herself up from the dirt shaking out her fur.
She comes to me again, this time raking her claws against my face, I whined at the pain, it was getting stronger from the silver covering her claws, I decided to take away that advantage twisting my neck quickly and grabbing what would be her wrist, just above her paw biting down until I hear a sickening snap. She whines in pain as her paw hangs from her arm. She steady herself on three legs, before she could regain her stance. I lunged at her on the back, gripping her throat with my teeth. I could have killed her at this moment but I didn't want to. I tightened my grip on her, hoping she would submit. I stepped on her broken paws, she snarled in response, I thought she was going to submit but instead she used her back paws to dig into my stomach and side. She claws me over and over again, the pain growing and the silver weakening me. I dig down harder with my teeth on her neck, about to rip it off and end her life if she refuses to admit defeat, before she kicks me hard in the chest. The force threw me off from her and across the circle at the Alpha's feet, he looked down at me with a concerned face before he looked over to Luna.
" Why isn't she healing?" He asked and I was relieved to notice that this fight was fair.
My legs trembled weakly under me as I pushed myself to stand up, I breathed in as deep as possible trying to get oxygen into my lungs while I was trying to ignore the pain gripping me, making it almost impossible to think clearly. I looked at Debbie and even in her wolf form I could see she was really pleased with my current state, the thought pisses me off. Making me snarl at her as she huffs at me , she knows I won this, she knows I bested her that I beat her even with the pain the silver is causing me.
She hunches down, before pushing off hard with her back paw, flinging herself on me. I barely have enough energy to move out of the way, but she corrects herself at the last moment and she was able to tackle me, climbing on top of me and getting my neck in her jaws. I claw furiously at her belly and sides, but I barely made a scratch as what remaining strength I have wears off. Exhaustion takes over me as the silver continues to take over my system.
She tightens her grip on my neck, I could feel her canines sinking into my flesh, her saliva dripping down my fur. I can't bring myself to submit to her, I Know she's a lesser wolf and we both know it. She knew that even before the fight, judging by the fact that she felt the need to cheat.
I opened my eyes to find Gabriel watching me, staring intently into my eyes. I felt a surge from our bond, a click in my soul, then it dawned on me that the bond was reforming on its own. I hear an audible snap in my mind as a rush of his thoughts and feelings run through me. He must have sensed it as his eyes widened in surprise. I felt his affection, his pride and his fierce loyalty run through me.
Then I feel a surge of his strength.
The pain leaves me for a fraction of second as he lends me his power, I was able to throw Debbie off me. Surprised by my sudden movement, she was taken off guard. I used her lowered guard to throw her off the ground , I stepped on her chest digging my claws in right where her heart is. She roars,a mix of pain, anger and fear as I continue to burrow deeper into her chest cavity with sharp nails.
I look her dead in the eyes as I bare my teeth and snarl at her. Her eyes widen as fear takes over her, she begins to thrash under me but my claws buried deep in her body didn't allow any movement from her. She whines, cries and practically beg in wolf form for mercy, I lower my face to her neck and wrapped my teeth around it, I sink my teeth further until I feel her blood pour In my mouth, she continues to thrash under me but her movement became more erratic, fueled by desperation rather than any kind of technique . She whines desperately as she tries to free herself, but I put more of my weight on her causing my claws to dig deeper and making it harder for her to breath.
I placed my y claws so deep in her chest I could feel her heart pumping, the movement registered against my paws.
I squeeze my jaw one last time, warning her that if she doesn't submit, I will end her life. She snarls again, twisting her face to snap at me. I looked at Gabriel one last time and all he did was nod firmly. I didn't need to read his mind to know what that meant.
I bite down firmly until I reach bone, then rip her throat out with my teeth, her drop dripping from my muzzle. I drop her esophagus on the ground and I hear her take her last breath.
It was the last sound I registered before my vision fades off.
