" Well, first it was his threat of war if any harm comes to you while you are here, second was his nearly daily phone calls to check on your well being, but the thing that convinced me was the way Dave talked to you". He explains.
" What do you mean?" I ask and he sighs.
" He isn't good with people, especially women . So when he becomes attached to you, I realize it because you give off the warm soothing Luna vibes. He was naturally attached to you the way most children are to a Luna ". He says and I can't deny the fact that I'm impressed .
" You are very observant ". I say and he nods.
" Now after my discretion and hospitality, I think you owe me a bit of explanation, don't you". He says and I nod.
" Gabriel, was an asshole to me for a long time before we found out that we were mates. I rejected him and our parents as well as Gabriel's parents asked me to reconsider. Things weren't progressing smoothly so Gabriel gave me the option of seeing other packs so if things didn't work out , I could choose somewhere to transition ". I explain and his brow shoots up.
" I wasn't expecting that . Well the rejection doesn't surprise me entirely. That kid was always some kind of scumbag, but the fact that he wouldn't let you leave us is quite impressive . I'm sure it took a lot of willpower on his side". He says and I nod in agreement.
" Yes, but being away from him isn't doing that much good on him , but I still try to patch things by communicating with him through the mind link and it has been nice so far". I admit and he smiles a little.
" Good, but if things don't work out,I would like to offer you a preposition of sorts". he says and I eye him curiously.
" What do you mean?" I ask and he takes a deep breath.
" I'm sure you noticed in your time here that the pack isn't exactly warm and friendly". He says and I nod in agreement.
" I think it has to do with the loss of my mate, not having a Luna isn't good for the well being of the pack, you are needed for a myriad of things and I have been doing my best , but there has been no good substitute for a Luna. So if things don't work out well with you and Gabriel, I would like to give you the option to come here and take the role of Luna ''. He says and my mouth gapes in astonishment.
" What? Like? Choice mate?" I ask incredulously. He chuckles a little and shake his head
" No, no mates. Unless something were to happen naturally, I wouldn't be opposed, but I have been searching for someone to help me and I think you did be perfect ". He admits and my face heats up at the compliment , I clears my throat and shuffles a little before answering.
"Hmm, thank you for the opportunity , I will certainly think about it ". I answered honestly and he nodded.
" That's all I ask". He says and stands.
" But you should always bear in mind that if you don't choose Gabriel or come back here, you will always have the Luna urges. It would be hard for you to function in a pack that already has a Luna. He says and I ponder on this new information.
" That makes sense , just like a pack can't have two Alphas ". I say and he nods.
" Yes, but take this from someone who would do anything just to have his mate back . A mate bond is precious , if there is any chance that you two can work it out, that can be happy , you should try ". He says solemnly and tears prick my eyes.
" Thank you, you are the first person in this whole mess to take my happiness into account ". I say as he holds his hand out, I shake it and leave the pack house a little shell shocked and find Ethan waiting by the car.
He opens the door for me and eyes me curiously as he climbs on the other side and starts to drive.
" What happened ? He says something inappropriate ?" He asks me and I shake my head.
" No, he offered me the Luna position ". I say still flabbergasted.
Ethan surprises me by snarling and I look over at him in confusion.
" He prepositioned you? That pretty fucking inappropriate , Rachel ". He says pure venom dripping from his tone. I shake my head and swat his arm to get him to settle down.
" No , not like that, he isn't looking for a mate, just a Luna. He figured out that I'm Gabriel's mate and when I explained the situation he said " if things don't work out I could come and help him with the pack". I explained and Ethan settled down.
" Let's not tell Gabriel about this, he will start a war". Ethan says and I can't help but giggle.
" You are right, I wasn't a big fan of that pack anyway , they don't even have a library ". I explain and Ethan chuckles at me.
We have been on the road for couples of hours when I decided to mind link Gabriel.
" Are you getting tired of hearing from me yet?" I ask him, I feel his amusement through the mind link and it makes me smile.
" No, I could never get tired of your voice in my head sweetheart, but I'm leading the training right now ". He explains and I feel a little disappointed . Our conversations have been longer lately and I have been enjoying getting to know him more.
" Give Debbie extra push ups, I'm sure she earned them". I say my tone dripping with sass and he chuckles before I hear him bark out the order
" Fifty more, Debbie ! And don't slack on these ones or you will get more ". He yells out and I Burst into laughter , Ethan looks at me like I have lost my mind.
" Are you on your way to your next potential home ?" He asks obviously pouting and I roll my eyes.
" Oh hush . Yes we are about halfway there. That is why I linked you. I'm bored and all Ethan wants to talk about is how protein is a good way to build muscle". I say and he chuckles through my mind making me shiver.
" Well, I think you will like this one a little better than the last one , the location at least.
" Hmmm, and why is that?" I ask him.
" Because the largest bookstore in the state is only half an hour away, '' he says and I squeak both in my mind and outside, making Ethan freak out.
" Oh shit". I panic.
" What, what's wrong?" Gabriel ask
I screamed out, and scared Ethan . He swerved the car a little . I say with a giggle and I hear Gabriel laugh fit through my mind. It is warm and sexy and makes me want to hear it in person again.
" I got to go, sweetheart, my dad is yelling at me. Some bullshit about leading by example . Link me later , if you want. He adds the last part and I smile at the effort he's making to give me my space and respect my boundary ". The growth he has shown ever since I left has been impressive , he is obviously making an effort.
" I will, I tell him before breaking the link and settling back into my seat".
" What the fuck did you scream about ?" Ethan asks, obviously still annoyed by my earlier outburst.
" Three words my friend ". I say looking over at him.
" Gabriel, said I Love you?" He asked and I snorted.
" Oh no, way better , state, largest bookstore".
