" Thank you, Gabriel, but no one wants me here". I said sadly. He sighs and works over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"I wasn't you here sweetheart, everyone else will learn to deal with it, once they spend more time with you they will see just how amazing you are. Just like I do". He murmurs, tucking his face into my neck, allowing him the contact as it feels soothing to me. I wrapped my arms around him and he was still for a moment before melting into my touch.
"Let me think about it, okay?" I ask pulling away and give him a small smile. He nodded, his green eyes sparkling. He reaches out and grabs a cookie, shoving the whole thing into his mouth.
" Hey! Those are mine" I yelled and he gave me a smug grin.
"They will only become yours if you agree to move in. Thinking about it means you have the share". He smiles, handing me one as I giggle at him.
" How did you know about my obsession with Oreos?" I asked curiously, digging into my snack l. He shrugs and hits me with another arrogant smile.
"I asked around". He admits with some sort of shyness peeking through.
I'm always used to seeing him in workout clothes, so his jeans and collared shirt are throwing me off. He looks delicious and hates me for thinking about unwrapping the package.
" What are you thinking about?" He asked me, reaching his hand out to twirl my hair.
" Nothing, why?" I ask, trying to settle my excited heart.
" Your eyes turned black, and you don't seem to be pissed off". He says suggestively and I shrug at him.
"Of course, I was pissed off. You are my Oreos, my wolf is very protective over food". I pointed out, but Gabriel raises his eyebrow making it clear that he doesn't believe me.
" Whatever you say, sweetheart ". He cooks as he steps closer to me. I feel the heat pouring off his body. He reaches out to run his knuckles down my arm, making goosebumps erupt and a shiver wrack down my spine.
" How about we try out the bed, to make sure it is comfortable ". He purrs in my ear and I immediately buckle from my trance. I pushed him away, brow furrowed in frustration.
" Is that why you brought me here?" So you can try to fuck me? Is that all I am to you? Some quest? A challenge? I asked and he looked shocked by my outburst of questions.
"What? No Rachel. Of course not, we won't do anything until you are ready". He says taking a step back gives me some space.
" Who says I will ever be ready?" I asked angrily and I could sense his confusion and concern slip towards anger and frustration.
"What's the other option, sweetheart? I'm never going to accept your rejection so you might as well just give me a chance. A real one, not all of this pushing me away and punishing my bullshit. Just act like a real mate and see how it can be good. We could be so good together". He practically yells at me like saying it louder will convince me or something.
" The other option is that I leave. Whether you agree to my rejection or not". I say firmly and he growls so loudly the window quakes.
"You will not leave ". He says low as he walks toward me. I know this means he is dangerous, but I don't care about that.
"That just shows how selfish you are, putting yourself above the happiness of your mate". I respond, before turning and running away from him.
Gabriel
Everything in me was telling me to run after her. To chase her down, to make her see reason, but I know that wouldn't work with her, forcing Rachel to do anything would only make her go far away from me and push back harder to the other side.
Taking away her options, and making her feel trapped was doing the same thing. She had been telling me from the beginning that she needed space, so I gave it to her.
First a day, then the second one.
It felt like dying a slow death, but we both needed it. She thinks and puts my plan in motion.
I didn't tell my parents what I was planning, I knew they would be pissed and won't understand my reasoning, but in my soul, I knew it was the right thing to do. That if Rachel was ever going to give me a real chance. She needed to do this.
And I needed to let her.
After three days apart, I called Rachel, her parents, and my parents to the pack house. When she walked into the small room I had been given as an office. She looked tired and more so, I'm sure I didn't look any better. I wanted to hold her in my arms but I refrained from touching her. I tried to keep my face neutral, but that didn't stop her from eyeing me curiously. In the three days she didn't make any attempt to see me talk to me, she probably thought I was still mad from our previous conversation, more like a soul achingly sad.
" Well son, why did you call us all here?" My dad asked to make himself comfortable. I sigh and run my hand through my hair.
