Elizabeth
I panicked when he started to come towards me and ran away. I was as fast as lightning. I wasn't only a good fighter, but the fastest in my clan. I shouldn't have run from my mate, but I did. I sat on the bench in the street, hands on my head. I messed up. I hurt him ... My mate.
I stood up and went to Harry's place. I found him waiting for me on the patio, drinking blood.
"It takes you a long time to think about things," he said.
" Yeah," I exhaled.
Once I was within arm's reach of him, he pulled me in his arms. Why does he have to be so good-looking?
He grabbed my hand and directed me to the lounge. I sat on the couch with my legs crossed. He sat next to me,
" You need to go to him," he said.
" Why the fuck are you such a good man? Fight for me," I hit his arm with a curled fist. He only chuckled.
" I love you, Elizabeth. I always will, but you belong with him," he said,
" Your mate will love and satisfy you in ways you won't imagine. I was lucky to have found my beloved and to have her love. You need to experience it as well."
I felt tears in my eyes as he spoke gently to me.
" I'm a vampire. No lycan alpha would want to be mated with me. They like humans more than our kind," I chuckled humorlessly. He frowned and lifted his chin.
" You're a lovable person. He will accept you for who you are," he assured me. I was still skeptical. Even if he did, his pack wouldn't, especially with the vampire attacks happening in packs. It would raise issues.
" Can I not tell him for now?"
" Why?"
" Because I want to experience the mate bond before the trouble comes. I will tell him in my own time," I said slowly. I will accept the alpha but won't tell him what I was. I just knew that my being a vampire would complicate things between us in the future.
Later that evening, we went to my mate's house. It was a lovely modern Victorian house in the woods, 5 kilometers from the town. I inhaled and glanced at Harry one more time.
" It's the right thing to do," he said firmly. Harry was the first to get out of the jeep, and I followed. My mate's friends came outside, and the brunette girl with a cheerful smile waved excitedly at me. However, I didn't see Aerys.
" Harry," the tall man with brown hair called, walking over to us.
" You've brought the Luna," he bowed to me. Luna, it sounded so strange that he was addressing me as such.
" Call me Elizabeth," I said. He only nodded politely and shook my hand.
" Hi, Elizabeth. I'm Tonga. Alec, here is my mate. Nice to meet you," Tonga said excitedly, giving me a quick hug.
" Hi, Tonga."
" Have you decided to accept our alpha?" she asked eagerly. I nodded, and she squealed and jumped.
" I knew you would accept him. I'm excited. Will you stay with us?"
I opened my mouth to speak, but no words escaped my lips. Stay with him? I didn't think about that.
" Relax, T, " her mate held her arms lovingly.
" Aerys in the woods, running," another man said. He was equally handsome and tall. He extended his hand and introduced himself as Coswell.
" I'll find him," Harry disappeared in the forest, leaving me with the three wolves.
" We could easily mind-link him," Murmured Coswell.
" I'm sure he wants to talk," Alec smirked, his gaze finding me. Tonga groaned and came to me.
" Let's wait inside."
Harry.
I was in pain. However, I couldn't let Elizabeth know of this. She was sometimes impulsive and would reject her mate to be with me. I couldn't allow that.
I felt she would find her mate, but not this fast. I found the alpha in the woods of their territory. He turned to me, his eyes fierce.
" I've brought Elizabeth. You two have to talk," I told him. He disappeared into the darker part of the woods. When he came, he was wearing shorts back in his human form.
" She's at my house?" he asked. He sounded unsure. I nodded. Alpha Aerys went past me in a hurry, but my words stopped him,
" I know your ways with women. If you hurt her, I'll kill you," I warned him. Aerys Chasia was an excellent and strong alpha, but he was a player. He turned back, his eyes glistening dangerously. His fists clenched.
" Are you threatening me, Harry," he growled.
" Take it as you see fit, but hurt Elizabeth. One of us dies," I glowered at him. He took deep breaths, taming his alpha lycan. They didn't tolerate disrespect or threats. He only glared at him and left in a hurry.
I was rooted where I was for quite a while, thinking. I lost Elizabeth again. Memories of Elizabeth and I playing in the castle came crashing down on me. We always had the best time together. At one point, the king suggested we get married. However, we didn't. Elizabeth held off because she wanted to find her beloved.
" What is a vampire doing in lycan territory?" A voice barked. I turned swiftly to look at the woman before me. She was holding a bow and arrow, looking sexy. However, her demeanor changed as soon as she saw me, and in her eyes, I saw recognition.
She was tall and toned. Her skin was a beautiful honey color that matched her eyes. Her hair was dark, long, and curly. She was gorgeous. I said to myself. And she smelled of expensive perfume.
" She-wolf," I sighed. Her eyes were back to being fierce as she glared at me. I wonder what I could have done to offend her and then realize I was a vampire on her territory. With the growing number of attacks from Jenson's vampire, the shifters hate us even more. Her honey eyes burned in me, and I couldn't help but be impressed by her. Does she know no fear? I could quickly disarm her and kill her. Even though shifters were strong, we were too. Our strength came with age, and I was old.
" I'm alerting the others of your presence," she said coldly, yet she didn't
" You haven't yet. Why is that?" her lips parted a little after my question. She let go of the arrow, and I intercepted it as it reached my face. I broke it in half just as another almost pierced my chest. She aimed another directly at my heart.
" You're fast," I commented. She inhaled deeply.
" You, too," she whispered.
" You're Harry. A vampire,"
" How do you know my name?"
"Through Elizabeth. She showed me a picture of you," she slung her bow and arrow over her shoulder. Her eyes were still locked on me.
" Elizabeth is friends with a vampire? How?" she questioned more to herself.
" Who are you?" I asked. The wolf was fascinating to watch. Her expression quickly changed, conveying her thoughts.
" Yorna," she said quietly. Elizabeth had mentioned her to me a few times, but I'd never seen a picture of her.
" Does Eli know you're a vampire?"
" Does she know you're a werewolf?" I retorted.
" No, I didn't know if she was familiar with our world. We are forbidden to tell humans our identity," she said.
" Same for me," I smiled tightly. Elizabeth probably knew her identity but didn't want to ask about it.
" Why were you in my territory?"
" I was speaking with your alpha. He just left,"
" Oh, we were told he was working with a vampire to end attacks," she sighed.
" You're a warrior," I said, and she nodded. We stared at each other before she exhaled,
" I should leave now before my team comes searching for me."
" Can I escort you?" I found myself asking. Something in her eyes shone.
" You're a vampire,"
" And you're a wolf," I retorted.
" This is interesting," she muttered.
" Indeed," I smirked.
We trekked back deeper into the territory. I didn't know how long we talked, but our conversation was enjoyable. The painful ache I felt earlier was slowly fading as she told me about her interests. Yorna, her name, rolled off my tongue. I liked that name. I allowed a smile on my lips as I looked at her again.
