His Mate, His Girlfriend

Bonus Chapter 25

Ch. 167 / 172 May 06, 2026

Coswell

Just then, the atmosphere changed, and I smelled the most intoxicating scent in the world. My head turned towards the entrance. My heart stopped momentarily when my eyes landed on the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. She was talking to her friends happily but suddenly sensed eyes on her, and our eyes locked. Her beautiful forest-green eyes widened.

" Mate," we said at once. I was in a daze. She was tall and lean, and her afro hair was styled beautifully. She had the face of an angel, and her espresso skin shone bright. She sniffed the air, then a frown adorned her plum lips, and her eyes darkened.

As I approached her, my heart was aflame; the world seemed to fade away.

" Hello, mate," she said, not too pleased. She must have smelled another woman's scent on me. I couldn't utter a word, too entranced by her.

" My name is Annalise," she said in a smooth English accent, and I forgot my darn name. I opened my mouth, but I couldn't say a word. She tilted her neck slightly, suddenly seeming interested in me.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and my alpha's chuckle in my ear,

"His name is Coswell," Aerys said. I finally got out of the daze and nodded,

" Yes, Coswell," I affirmed.

She nodded and looked back at her three friends, one of them, a man. He looked sad, and I instantly knew they were in a relationship. He smiled slightly at her, his eyes still in pain, and turned to leave. My beautiful mate wanted to go to him, but I pulled her to me.

" No, mine," I growled, my lycan taking over briefly before I pulled him back. Tingles and sparks rushed all over my skin when I touched her. It was electric. She gasped at the sparks.

Annalise, it was a lovely name.

" Excuse me," she said and took her hand from me. She ran outside, and her two female friends stayed, looking at us.

" Go and wait outside until they finish talking," Tonga said. I nodded and ran after her.

I stayed in the corner, watching as they spoke.

" We talked about this. Why do you look so hurt?" she asked.

" I didn't think it would happen, especially so soon," the guy said sadly, running a hand through his hair.

" I'm sorry,"

" Don't be. It's not your fault; everyone deserves to find their mate, especially you. You are so great, Anne," he said, smiling slightly. She stood on her tip-toes and kissed his chest. A low growl erupted from my chest. The two chuckled, and she turned to look at me with a smile.

" I think you should go to him. I'll go to the beach house and relax there for a while," he said. He went in the direction of the parking lot. My mate inhaled before turning to me and walking over here.

" Hello, " she said, extending her hand. I took it and raised her hand to my lips, and kissing it.

" So... We are mates," I said.

" Yep,"

We took a walk as we got to know each other better. The night was beautiful but short; it was the best day of my life. She went to my hotel with me, but we didn't mate. I just held her in my arms the whole night.

Elizabeth

" No, no. I went to dinner with you last night. I'm not going to a party with you," I said, picking up Dumber and giving her food. Chuck followed me in the kitchen.

" Please, come with me. I don't have a date, and I'll be bored," he begged. I narrowed my gaze on him. Bored? He was Chuck Arrow, and I'm sure he knew a million people. Women are naturally drawn to him like bees on honey—these alphas.

" I'm sure you'll be fine. I don't want to get dressed up again," I said. I groaned and picked dumber, returning her to her bowl as she was trying to eat a marble.

" Eliza, please. I want to be around you," he grabbed my arms and turned me to look at him.

" Okay, fine, my ex-girlfriend will be there, and I want to show you off," he said, slightly smiling. I exhaled,

" You could have just said so," I smiled, and he kissed my head.

" Best of women," he winked and pulled away.

" What time should I get ready?"

" In four hours. I'm the host, and an important alpha is coming, so I can't be too late," he said, but his eyes slightly widened. He let it slip and mentioned alpha. He was looking intently at me, but I acted dumb.

He raised his hand, stroked my hair, and then his fingers trailed on my neck. I felt color leave my face as his fingers stopped on my mark.

" An alpha's mark," he said casually. I stabilized my heartbeat.

" Yes,"

" How long did you know I was an alpha? You are too intelligent not to know,"

" Since the day I saw you at the riverbank," I admitted. He nodded and went to the counter, making himself coffee.

" Do you want one?" he asked, and I nodded. " Do vampires drink coffee?"

he asked, and I choked on my saliva. I was coughing bitterly, and he came to me concerned. His hand rubbed up and down my back. I looked up to him,

" How?"

" A good guess, but your reaction confirmed it," he answered.

He gave me water, and I drank it.

" We should talk," I said.

" We need to," he chuckled. He went past me to the salon, and I followed him. I sat on the couch in front of him.

" This property has been here for decades and is always in good shape. So, I did an investigation and learned that the owners are vampires. They come sometimes but don't cause any trouble for us, so we don't ruffle them," he explained. " I was surprised to see a human here, so I thought you were a familiar and somehow related to the two vampires. However, I've been thinking about you a lot. In our conversations, you are too brilliant and wise for a 25-year-old, so I just guessed, and you confirmed it," he was acting like it was not a big deal that I was a vampire.

" And you are not mad at me?" I asked tentatively.

" Why should I be mad, Elizabeth," his voice is gentle.

" That I'm a vampire,"

" Are you mad that I'm a lycan?" he countered. I raised my eyebrows,

" No,"

" Then why would I be mad at you because of your identity?"

A smile grew on my lips. This man was genuinely unique. I sighed and got up. I extended my hands towards him; he took them. I wrapped my arms around his waist, and he exhaled, hugging me back.

" Baby girl," he whispered, " which alpha hurt you. I have a score to settle with him,"

" I don't want to talk about him now," I said, going to the kitchen to look for Dumber. I scowled at the dirt on the floor. She was sleeping in the backyard.

" I should leave. Will pick you up in 3 and a half hours," he said.

" Okay!" I hollered.
