Love
I stared at the phone blankly. The number was strange. I tried to call it back, but there was no answer, and it stopped ringing altogether.
Whoever sent me this message was at the border earlier. I reread the text, and a cold shiver went down my body. Did I have a stalker? I thought, a bad feeling nestling in the pit of my stomach. I stared at my phone in silence, expecting a new email but it didn't come,
" Love, are you alright?"
Zeyneb asked. I turned and nodded. I didn't want to alert her that something was wrong. I will ask Luis to track this number. He was good at tracking.
" Just a text message from my aunt," I shrugged and put the phone away.
We first dropped off Zeyneb at the manor. There was snarling and growling. I got out of the car as she did. Over five wolves were growling and snarling at the guards.
" What the fuck is going on here?" she shouted. One of the guards approached her and bowed.
" They are here for the boy," he said. I glanced at Zeyneb. All the color left her face.
" Where's Maybin?" she asked the tall wolf in human form. The man looked at Zey fondly before opening his mouth to answer,
" He is inside, L- Ma'am,"
We went past the wolves and rushed into the house. I followed Zeyneb upstairs. We found Maybin pounding on the bedroom door.
" Maybin!" Zeyneb called. The alpha of the Night Fall pack glared at her.
" Why didn't you tell me he was here?!" Maybin roared, seething with anger.
" I did," Zeyneb sighed softly. She was stoic as she looked at her ex-husband. Zey was scary when she was calm.
" No! I have been looking for my son for 48 hours, and he has been here all along!" he boomed.
" I called your cellphone, and your mistress answered the call. I told her Apollo was with me. She snorted and ended my call," she explained calmly. Maybin was confused, and slowly, his anger was dissipating.
" Why would Lissar do that?" he growled.
" Yooh. I don't know what you talk about behind closed doors," she walked past him and knocked gently on the door.
" Apollo, it's Zey. Open the door, baby,"
It was silent, and then the door clicked. A young boy stepped out. He went straight to hug Zeyneb.
" I don't want to go with him. I want to stay here with you," he cried.
" Apollo, I was worried about you," Maybin said gently. His son didn't look at him. I could tell Maybin cared for his son, even though he was a dick.
" I want to stay with Zey, please, Dad,"
Maybin glanced at the woman he had lost. I saw the pain that flashed in his eyes.
" You can come to visit on weekends. You are going home with me,"
" He can?" Zeyneb looked hopeful.
" I signed the divorce papers. There was no need to send that man to me," he sneered lowly.
Zeyneb looked lost for a second, but a smile spread on her lips. She knew it was Luis who made it possible. Zeyneb sighed and put on a serious face.
" Come on, he doesn't want to go with you. Let him stay here," Zeyneb said.
" No, you're not taking my son."
" I'm not taking him from you. Our packs are close enough for you to see him anytime you want, and he can go to school in the city. On neutral ground," Zeyneb told him. It seemed they would disagree easily on this matter. I interrupted them,
" I should go, Zey. Good night, and congratulations on the divorce," I winked and hugged her. She was happy about the news.
I sighed and went to the car.
" Finally, Ellis will bite my head off," Jace sighed as he started the engine. I smiled, but I felt dread in the pit of my stomach.

I was angry that Jace told Love about the attack on the border. I didn't want her involved in fights.
" Love can take care of herself. She's an excellent fighter," Selene said. The mage had come over in the morning to help with the kids and spend time with them. She gave me a cup of tea. I smelled it and cringed.
" Smells terrible," I sighed.
" However, it tastes really good, and will help you a lot," she said. The withdrawal hasn't been pleasant the last two days, but I was feeling better today, and the migraines are fading now.
" Who is attacking your pack," she asked,
" Maleck," I answered. My cousin was determined to cause me trouble, but I would kill him soon. He was working with a vampire who killed two members of my pack. Such crimes can't go unpunished. Selene and I discussed the attack on my pack. I smiled when Love's scent reached my nose.
