Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 168

Ch. 168 / 231 Apr 27, 2026

Fern's Perspective

"It's Aurora! What is she going to do?" my wolf asked.

At that moment, Aurora didn't move with the others as usual. Instead, she walked alone, mysteriously, along the path behind the villa. Her silhouette looked particularly eerie in the night, as if she was hiding some untold secret with every step.

A sudden tightness gripped my heart, and an intense unease washed over me. I instinctively knew that Aurora's solo journey was anything but ordinary. Driven by some invisible force, I quickly threw on a cloak and followed her silently.

The nighttime forest was unnervingly quiet, with only the occasional chirp of unknown birds sending chills down my spine. I carefully trailed behind Aurora, keeping a safe distance, not daring to make a sound.

I was fully aware of Aurora's sharp instincts and knew I couldn't afford to be careless. As her footsteps faded farther away, the atmosphere around me grew increasingly unsettling.

Aurora eventually stopped in front of a dense thicket. After looking around to ensure she wasn't being followed, she gently pushed open a small door hidden within the bushes and stepped onto a concealed path.

I held my breath, surprised. I'd been to this forest many times but had never discovered this hidden path. Without thinking twice, I followed closely behind.

As I passed through the hidden door, my eyes widened—a small clearing lay before me, with a stone altar at its center. The moonlight streaming down upon the altar gave it a sacred yet eerie appearance.

I quickly concealed myself behind a large tree, my gaze fixed on the scene in the clearing. Shortly after, Aurora stood before the altar, as if she were waiting for something.

My heartbeat quickened, and I could sense some kind of conspiracy brewing. Suddenly, a light footstep echoed from the other side of the forest, and I instinctively held my breath. My eyes locked onto the source of the sound, and my palms began to sweat with nervous anticipation.

It wasn't long before a tall figure emerged from the darkness. It was a man clad in a black cloak, moving with a calm yet intimidating stride. A flash of shock crossed my face as I realized it was Silas.

Silas approached Aurora, and the two began speaking in hushed tones. I strained to calm my racing heart and focused intently on their conversation, trying to catch every word.

"Are you sure he won't find out?" Aurora asked quietly.

Silas sneered, a hint of cruelty in his demeanor. "He won't have time to think about anything else right now. Besides, our plan must be foolproof."

My heart sank at his words. Who were they talking about? And what was this so-called plan?

Questions swirled in my mind, and I knew I had to uncover the truth. I continued to eavesdrop and watched as Aurora pulled a roll of parchment from her pocket and handed it to Silas.

Silas unrolled the parchment and examined it carefully before nodding. "This is exactly what we need. You didn't leave any traces, did you?"

Aurora responded nervously, "Don't worry, I made sure everything was clean. He won't suspect a thing."

So Aurora was the mole. But why?

Silas nodded in satisfaction and said, "Very well. Remember, the action must be swift and flawless."

Aurora's voice trembled slightly. "But... he is the Alpha of the Dark Howl Pack. If we fail, what will happen to us...?"

Silas paused, as if weighing his words. Then he continued, "Things are moving faster than we anticipated. We can't afford to wait any longer."

"But..." Aurora hesitated.

"Don't you understand?" Silas' voice rose slightly with suppressed anger. "This day was bound to come sooner or later. From the moment you chose to be with me and betray Giovanni, there was no turning back. Besides, think about your child. Can you bear to see him live in hiding forever? Once we capture the Dark Howl Pack and defeat Giovanni, I'll declare you my mate, and you'll become the honored Luna of our pack. Consider all of this, alright?"

Aurora fell silent, her face pale in the moonlight as though she were lost in thought.

My heart sank when I heard this revelation. I could never have imagined that Silas was the "lover" Aurora had been with, even if it meant betraying Giovanni. Now, Aurora and Silas were plotting to overthrow the entire Dark Howl Pack.

Silas' voice interrupted my thoughts again: "We need to act before he realizes what's happening. Anyone who attempts to sabotage our plans must be eliminated."

Aurora nodded, her hesitation fading away to be replaced by a look of determination.

"And that woman, Fern..."

Silas suddenly mentioned my name, causing me to hold my breath.

"What? Are you interested in her too now?" Aurora's jealous voice echoed in the air.

"Of course not," Silas replied, "I just think she might be useful to our plans. Giovanni seems to have a special interest in her. Besides, using the bond between her and Giovanni to weaken him could greatly increase our chances of success, don't you think?" Silas spoke to Aurora with a slightly persuasive tone. "Don't worry, you're the one I love the most."

"Hmph, you'd better really mean that," Aurora said with a cold grunt.

The two whispered for a while longer before parting ways.

I stood there, emotions churning within me.

Why did Silas say he was going to use me to weaken Giovanni? What exactly are Aurora and Silas plotting? And how should I respond to this sudden shift in my fate?
