Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 162

Ch. 162 / 231 Apr 27, 2026

Giovanni's Perspective

My pack was attacked once again, this time more violently than before, evading all the defenses I had set up. Standing at the site of the attack, I looked at the devastation before me, my heart swelling with endless anger and helplessness. Once again, the enemy was wreaking havoc right under our noses, and there was nothing we could do about it.

After dealing with the immediate aftermath, I returned to my office with a heavy heart to prepare for a meeting with Tobias, Vivian, and a group of clansmen.

Inside the meeting room, the atmosphere was somber, and sadness was evident on everyone's face. Beta Tobias was reporting the details of the attack, trying to find any weaknesses in the enemy's strategy. Vivian stood to the side with a serious expression, her eyes scanning everyone's faces as if searching for clues.

"Not only are the cities on the west coast under attack, but we've also received requests for reinforcements from the eastern and northern borders," Tobias said, updating me on the latest news as we walked back to my suite.

"On what scale?" I asked.

"Scattered. It doesn't seem to be a military operation—more like rogue attacks."

"Any information on which organization is behind this?"

"No, Alpha. It could be multiple groups. The hooligans know we were attacked a while ago. They wouldn't miss this opportunity."

"The attack was too precise; every line of our defense was easily breached," Tobias's voice was low and serious. "This is no accident. I suspect we have a traitor within."

"That's impossible!" someone retorted. "Every one of us has been carefully selected. How could there be a traitor among us?"

That's when I heard a cacophony of noises coming from outside. I frowned and looked towards the door.

"What happened?" I asked coldly.

The guard outside quickly walked in and respectfully bowed his head to report, "Alpha, Aurora is outside trying to break into the conference room. She claims she knows who the traitor is."

I sniffed, and a trace of displeasure welled up in my heart. Aurora's behavior lately was becoming more and more baffling. She appeared in front of me frequently, always with all sorts of inexplicable claims.

Although I hadn't done anything to her for the time being, it seemed that I needed to remind her that my patience was limited.

I waved my hand coldly. "Send her in."

Aurora was brought in, her face anxious and determined, clearly with something important to say. She spoke directly as soon as she entered, "I know who the mole is!"

I gazed at her coldly. "What proof do you have?"

Aurora took a deep breath and tried to steady her voice. "I suspect Fern."

Her gaze shifted to the door before she continued, "I have seen a figure on her balcony late at night."

A pang of irritation ran through me, and my expression became inscrutable. "Do you realize what you're saying? That's a serious accusation."

Aurora looked straight at me without fear. "I know, but what I'm saying is the truth."

I looked at the others in the room; their expressions varied. Some looked shocked while others seemed to have guessed.

Vivian frowned, clearly upset by Aurora's accusations.

"Everyone leave," I ordered coldly.

The people in the conference room stood up and walked out with puzzled and uneasy expressions. Only Tobias, Aurora, and I remained.

When the door closed, the room was silent. I stared at Aurora, mixed emotions tumbling through my mind.

"Are you sure it was her you saw?" I asked, my tone icy.

Aurora nodded. "I'm not sure, but the figure was very similar to her size, and her behavior lately has been suspicious."

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger in my heart. The accusation was too serious, and if proven, it would have huge consequences.

"We need proof," Vivian said calmly. "We can't jump to conclusions based on a vague shadow alone."

A flicker of unease crossed Aurora's face. "I understand, but I really don't think we can ignore the possibility."

I nodded slowly, my mind made up. "I'll look into this, but don't bring it up again until there's solid evidence."

Aurora sighed in relief, clearly satisfied with my response. She bowed her head and thanked me, then turned and left the conference room.

Tobias looked at me with concern in his eyes. "Do you really suspect her?"

I shook my head. "I don't know, but we have to be cautious. No detail can be overlooked."

"Maybe it's not one of ours, but someone who's been threatened or paid off," Tobias analyzed calmly.

I pondered for a moment, then turned to Tobias and said, "Okay, give me the map and the report. I'll take a look at it later tonight."

I then signaled that they could leave.

Tobias stood there but didn't move.

"What else?" I asked, not looking up as I flipped through pages of reports from the front lines and photos of recently attacked villages.

"Alpha, it's two in the morning. We have a steering committee at six, and—"

"Okay, I'll see you in the morning then," I dismissed him for the night.

"Giovanni, not me!" Tobias urged. "It's you! You barely slept!"

"I'm fine." I opened the door and closed it behind me before Tobias had a chance to protest further.

Over the past few days, I've managed to stay focused on my work. There was a lot to do, especially as the conflict heated up along the border. War was something I was familiar with, something I knew. It was a good distraction from the other emotions that have been trying to surface.
