Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 198

Ch. 198 / 231 Apr 27, 2026

Giovanni's Perspective

I stood in the vast rotunda, my eyes fixed coldly ahead. The golden chandeliers cast a warm glow, their light reflecting off the walls adorned with the emblems of the wolves.

This feast was no ordinary one—it marked the beginning of new alliances and promises.

The long table at the center of the hall was draped with an ornate white tablecloth, decorated with exquisite dishes and drinks. Yet, to me, it all seemed to pale in comparison, unable to ease the deep-seated resistance I felt.

"Alpha, you seem a little distracted," Tobias whispered from the sidelines. Dressed in a formal black suit, his demeanor was calm, but a flicker of concern flashed in his eyes.

I shook my head softly, took a deep breath, and glanced up. "Just bracing myself for the stress of being a VIP." I didn't particularly enjoy the feeling of being watched.

"You don't have to carry it all alone," Tobias said. "The Elders are waiting for you, too—they're ready for the Blood Moon Wolves."

I nodded, though my mind was far from at ease. What did the arrival of Cyrene, the Alpha of the Blood Moon Wolves, and his daughter, Elena, truly signify?

I knew that for me, this wasn't just an official visit—it was the beginning of a game that was about to unfold.

I understood the implications. The Blood Moon Wolves had always been rivals to my pack, maintaining a delicate balance in the face of external threats. But today, that balance seemed on the brink of shattering.

I took a step forward and began making my way toward the far end of the hall, where an emissary from the Blood Moon Pack awaited. With each step, I felt myself walking toward an unknown fate. The Elders had long gathered, waiting for this moment.

"Alpha Cyrene is here." A low voice echoed.

My eyes narrowed as I turned toward the doorway. Cyrene's tall, imposing figure appeared in the entrance, his wolf aura pressing heavily on the air. His gaze was sharp, and he exuded a regal presence that was impossible to ignore. Behind him, his daughter, Elena, followed closely, her presence a brilliant, almost blinding light.

Elena immediately captured everyone's attention. She wore an exquisite black gown that complemented her noble, cold aura. Her eyes, like stars in the night sky, were deep and enigmatic. Where her father, Cyrene, radiated authority and seriousness, Elena's presence seemed to add a dangerous beauty to the scene.

Cyrene stepped into the hall, his gaze sweeping the room before finally settling on me. Instead of speaking right away, he flashed a cold smile. "Giovanni, it's been many years. We finally meet again."

I gave a slight bow, responding with politeness, "Alpha Cyrene, welcome."

Cyrene's lips curled into a knowing smile as his eyes flicked over me and then to Elena, who stood beside him. "This is my daughter, Elena. She will be our future, and she deserves your full attention."

Elena gave a small nod, her gaze briefly sweeping over the room before resting on me. Her eyes were cool and composed, but in their depths, I couldn't shake the feeling that something strange and unspoken flickered there.

"Elena," Reno, one of the Elders, spoke up, "She is the most promising future Luna of the Blood Moon Pack, and we believe she will offer unrivaled support to you."

I raised an eyebrow slightly, though a flicker of displeasure stirred within me. Elena's appearance was clearly intended to position her as my Luna. This arrangement seemed too calculated, and as an Alpha, I was well aware of such things. I had long been aware of the complex relationship between the Blood Moon Wolves and my pack, but in this moment, Elena's arrival made the situation feel all the more intricate.

"I've heard that Elena is incredibly talented," I spoke tentatively, my tone calm but my thoughts churning inside.

"Yes, Father has always been proud of me," Elena replied softly, her voice devoid of any hint of delicacy. Instead, it carried a sense of strength and confidence. "However, what truly makes the Bloodmoon Pack thrive is the power behind me."

Cyrene's eyes flickered slightly as he chuckled in a low voice. "This power comes not only from me but also from the support of all of you."

"In that case, let's discuss how we can work together more effectively," I said, raising my head and locking eyes with Cyrene. "But I believe cooperation must be built on genuine trust and understanding."

Reno couldn't help but interject. "Giovanni, don't forget who you are right now. You haven't chosen your Luna yet. Elena not only possesses all the qualities of a Luna, but she's also key to securing a future for our pack."

A wave of displeasure rose in me at his words. I instinctively disliked being steered so directly, especially with such overt pressure. But I remained calm and, with restraint, responded, "Yes, as Alpha, it is my responsibility to ensure the safety and prosperity of the pack."

At that moment, Elena took a step toward me. Her movement was as light and graceful as a cheetah's, yet there was an unmistakable sense of threat in it. She approached and whispered, "I've heard, Giovanni, that you're hesitant about choosing a Luna. But since we share a common goal, I'm certain I'll earn your approval in the end."
