Giovanni's Perspective
I stood at the window of my office, gazing through the cold moonlight at the lit room across the street—the Luna Suite where Fern was staying.
She had been silent for days since that night, never uttering a single sound of pleading or resentment. This silence troubled me. I could feel the bond that once was so strong between us crumbling bit by bit. The bond that had once given me boundless strength was now the source of my deepest pain. I never imagined it would come to this.
Fern, the woman who had made my heart race and driven me to distraction—the woman I had once viewed as a tool for revenge—had rejected me so decisively. I closed my eyes and recalled that moment—her icy words cutting through my heart like a sharp blade: "I'm going to REJECT you." Those words echoed in my mind, piercing every nerve and filling me with a storm of rage, stripping away her freedom altogether.
It was the first time I truly felt a connection between us, and her refusal felt like a complete betrayal. I had imprisoned her in a desperate attempt to regain control—control over her and control over the bond between us. However, reality proved far harsher than I had anticipated. As her resistance grew stronger, the bond that once empowered me now drained me of my strength. I could feel my power diminishing rapidly, with every breath serving as a painful reminder that I was losing a part of myself.
Just then, a sharp knock at the door shattered the fragile silence. I sprang to my feet and made my way to the door, where the soldier outside wore a grim expression. "Alpha, the enemy has attacked our defenses again. We need your command!"
I clenched my jaw inwardly. "I'll be right there," I replied in a deep voice.
Moonlight bathed the pack's camp, casting a bloody hue over an otherwise peaceful night. The air was thick with the smell of rust and burning, and the warriors of the Wolf Clan were already gearing up for battle. Their eyes were filled with determination and tension, while the howls of wolves and distant footsteps combined to create an overwhelming sense of urgency.
Suddenly, the woods in front of them erupted, and a group of Rogues, like ravenous wolves, charged at the camp. Their faces were feral, their clothes ragged, and their weapons stained with blood and dirt. In the moonlight, they appeared as an impending disaster, as if doom itself were closing in.
"The enemy is coming!" a wolf sentry shouted. His voice was nearly drowned out by the distant howls of wolves and the clamor of battle, but the warriors quickly reacted, preparing for the imminent conflict.
I stood in the center of the camp like an immovable mountain. My wolf growled within me, urging me to continue the fight.
"Separate!" I commanded, my voice deep and commanding, cutting through the battlefield. "Don't let them break through our defenses!"
The warriors swiftly spread out, forming a solid defensive line. Their movements were precise and practiced, as if they had been drilled countless times. The Rogues at the front had already surged to the edge of the camp, and fierce combat erupted.
One of the Rogue leaders, a burly man with a fierce grin, wielded a massive battle axe. Leading his group, he charged at the wolf warriors with reckless abandon. His axe glinted menacingly under the moonlight, each swing brimming with raw power, as though it could cleave the enemy in two.
"Block them!" I roared, my voice resonating with authority and resolve. The wolf warriors concentrated on their leader, delivering their attacks with precision and lethal force.
I plunged into the fray myself.
The battle cries echoed overhead as the enemy surged forward again. I led the pack into the fight, but with each clash, I felt my strength waning. Each strike and counterstrike left me increasingly drained.
Suddenly, a Rogue charged in from the flank, aiming to attack me. Instinctively, I sensed the danger, and my wolf growled a warning. I spun around, ready to deliver a powerful blow that would send my attacker sprawling. But in that moment, I was paralyzed, unable to make my next move.
"This isn't right," I thought to myself.
As the Rogue's claws were about to reach me, Vivian leaped in from the side and delivered a forceful kick that sent the Rogue sprawling.
"What's going on?" she demanded sharply. "Are you daft?"
The sudden weakness and stiffness lasted only a moment, and I soon regained my composure, struggling to explain myself in the face of Vivian's scrutiny.
"Alpha! Are you okay?" Tobias' voice rang out around me.
As my most trusted Beta, he had sensed my distress immediately.
"I'm fine! Keep fighting! Hold the line!" I commanded, my eyes flashing with determination.
Eventually, our combined efforts forced the enemy to retreat into the dark forest.
But what about next time? Will we still emerge victorious?
Back in the office, Tobias, standing beside me, seemed to sense my turmoil.
My Beta had been my most trusted partner for years, always offering the most practical advice at critical moments. But this time, his words overwhelmed me.
"You need to fix the bond between you," Tobias said, his voice low and firm.
"Fix?" I hissed through gritted teeth, seething with anger. "You don't understand anything! She tried to reject me!"
I nearly growled. Even I didn't fully grasp why I was reacting so strongly.
Tobias wasn't intimidated by my anger. His steady gaze was filled with concern. "But the bond between you is crucial. Without it, your power will continue to wane, and our pack will face an even greater crisis."
I fell silent. I hated to admit it, but Tobias' words were undeniably true. The reality was right in front of me, and there was no escaping it. I could feel my strength slipping away—each transformation more taxing, each fight more draining. It wasn't just physically debilitating; it was mentally crushing.
"What if I can't fix this bond?" I finally asked, my voice tinged with desperation.
"Then we risk losing our most important fighting force," Tobias said, his tone heavy. "Our enemies have sensed your weakness and will exploit it. If we don't restore your strength soon, the entire pack could face extinction."
The weight of his words stung my heart. I had considered this possibility before, but hearing it from Tobias made the harsh reality unavoidable.
"What should I do?" I asked softly, a note of helplessness in my voice.
"Go see her," Tobias replied. "Try to communicate with her. Even if it's just for the pack, attempt to mend the bond, even if only partially. Only by re-establishing your bond can you restore your power."
I closed my eyes, grappling with my internal struggle.
Go see her? How could I? Her cold words had pierced my heart like shards. The thought of approaching her, who was just a pawn in my game of revenge, begging her for not leaving me, was almost unbearable.
