Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 158

Ch. 158 / 231 Apr 27, 2026

Giovanni's Perspective

Her tears irritated me beyond belief, but the thought of her lies—the thought that every moment I had spent with her had been an elaborate deception she had created—made anger boil uncontrollably in my blood.

It took everything I had to resist the urge to dry her tears. My fingers tapped on the table as the minutes ticked by.

Finally, she looked up at me and said, "Since you hate me so much, please REJECT me."

With that, the string of sanity in my mind instantly snapped. Moonlight spilled into the room through the gap in the curtains, casting a hazy glow. I stood in the center of the room, my clenched fists already white, the anger in my heart nearly tearing me apart.

The whole world seemed to be trembling ever since that abominable lie was revealed. How dare she treat me in such a despicable way? How dare she try to continue deceiving me with false appearances?

My eyes burned, and the flames of anger blazed hotter and hotter within me, almost making it difficult to control myself.

Rage consumed all of my sanity.

How dare she?

How dare she make such a request?

After making me fall in love with her, she now tells me to reject her and leave it at that.

"You think rejection is going to solve the problem?" There was disdain in my voice. "Not only did you make me fall in love with you, you tied me to you with lies. Now that you're leaving, do you think it will all end there?"

"I'm really sorry..." she whispered.

A flicker of pain flashed through my heart as I watched her helplessness, but it was quickly replaced by anger. My voice grew cold and determined. "You can't make amends anymore. I won't allow you to leave so easily."

"Take her away!" I growled, my voice filled with uncontrollable anger and sadness. I knew that if I let her stay here any longer, my rage would make me rip her throat out.

The werewolves tasked with guarding the room immediately sprang into action, quickly dragging her out.

"Listen, she is henceforth once again reduced to the omega of the pack, losing all privilege and dignity."

As I was led past her in silence, I turned my head and coldly announced. My peripheral vision caught my slender figure pausing for just a moment before remaining silent and leaving. My hands weakly squeezed together.

The moment the door to my room closed, I felt a brief sense of peace. I had to admit that the vengeance against me hadn't given me any pleasure; instead, what followed was an even more intense rage and a tearing inside. Either way, my wolf and I needed to find a way to calm down, or we would both be consumed by this rage.

Just as I was contemplating how to handle the next situation, Aurora carefully stepped into the room. Her movements were gentle and light, but I knew her arrival was not unintentional. Her eyes twinkled with complexity, as if she was trying to rekindle the emotions that had once been between us.

"You need to calm down," Aurora said softly, trying to break the silence with a comforting tone. She stepped closer to me and reached out to caress my shoulder, an air of sadness and sweetness in her voice.

I gave her a cold look, not only anger but disgust welling up in my heart. Aurora's presence seemed like a provocation; she was trying to impress me with the old feelings we used to have for each other, but I wasn't the same person who was easily swayed by emotions anymore.

"I don't have time to play this game of amnesia with you," I said in an icy voice, completely brushing off any and all ties she had with me. I knew she wasn't really suffering from amnesia, and that her act was just a way to cover up the betrayal she had committed.

The expression on Aurora's face instantly froze, her hand suspended in the air as if she couldn't accept my cold rejection. She began to try and weasel her way out of it. "I... I really don't remember. Those things, I've already forgotten."

I stared at her coldly, every scene from my memory coming back to me with clarity. Aurora betrayed me; she left me and drove a dagger into my chest with those once-trusting hands when I needed her the most. The pain of that moment still haunts me to this day.

"I remember well how you betrayed me." I grabbed her hands and pushed her hard against the wall. "What beautiful hands! Remember? It was with these hands that you plunged the dagger into my chest without mercy."

A hint of fear showed in her eyes, but she still tried to continue her sophistry. "You're mistaken, I really don't remember."

"I'll find a way to make you remember," I said coldly, determined to reveal the truth about her and make her pay for her betrayal.

Aurora's body trembled slightly; she obviously hadn't expected me to be so determined. She stood up and bowed her head, a glimmer of despair in her eyes, before leaving the room. The door closed behind her, but my heart did not feel at peace with her departure.

My wolf questioned in an inner whisper, "Why didn't you just kill Aurora? Her presence will only continue to cause trouble."

I took a deep breath and slowly replied, "There is still a use for keeping her. I need her to investigate what the recent attack on the pack was all about. She showed up just after our pack was attacked. Maybe she can provide some clues."

My wolf continued to press, "What about me? What are you going to do?"

I was silent for a moment, my mind confused and torn about what I was going to do.

"Just a kind reminder, I don't think you should be so paranoid about this. She is your destined mate, and trust me, hurting her won't do you any good," my wolf reminded me.

"But she lied to me! She toyed with me!" I mentally growled angrily at my wolf.

"But I don't think her feelings for you are fake. Not to mention, she saved you."

My wolf's words froze me briefly, but soon the anger of being lied to swept over me again.

"I once also thought Dylan truly loved me as his child, but didn't he end up trying to kill me anyway," I said, ignoring the words of my inner wolf.
