Don't toy with me: sexiest man of the year

A WHOLE NEW WORLD

Ch. 274 / 312 Apr 03, 2026

He gently pulled his hand away from hers, leaving Angela's hands hanging on the table helplessly. "I'm sorry, Angela, but I have someone else now. I've found happiness in a life where I'm not that man anymore. You need to move on too. It's time for a new beginning, Angela. I can't go back to that world. I am sorry." Angela's chest tightened, her eyes were so wide that they could burst, her breath coming in shallow gasps as the reality of his words settled in. Antonio stood up after his statement. He glanced down at Angela. She was still in shock staring into the space with tears flooding down her cheeks. He looked down as if he regretted the pain he was causing. But it wasn't enough. It wasn't nearly enough to heal the gaping wound he had just inflicted. Immediately he folded his length in half with a low bow. "I'm so sorry for all the pain I may have caused you in the past," he said with his voice thick with sincerity. "For everything, until now. But I can't be that person anymore. I don't want to be Antonio Montero. I am Diego now, and I am happy with who I am." Angela's heart broke into shreds as she looked down at him. This wasn't how it was supposed to end. They were supposed to have a second chance, to rebuild their long-lost affection. But here he is, apologizing for the man he once was, for the love they once had, and for the future they would never share. "Isn't it rather selfish? What about my happiness too?!" Angela snapped in tears, her hand clenched tightly in a fist. "Can't you see how much I am hurting, I love you more than her, before her!" Antonio was still in the same position, with his head bowed as she broke down attracting many heads towards them. "I have waited ..... Waited please Antonio...don't do this...please.... I beg you...please." She pleaded this time softly as if she suddenly lost her strength or will. Antonio straightened up slowly and met her frustrated and pathetic face filled with tears. "I'm truly sorry, Angela, forgive me for this. My Mexican family was with me, throughout my trauma. Hinata, the woman I love, has been through a lot, and now she is with my unborn child". Angela's eyes snapped wider at that statement. "If we are meant to be, perhaps I would have remembered you. This may be for the best." he said once more. And with that, he turned and walked out of the café, leaving Angela alone at the table, as her world shattered beyond repair. The moment the door closed behind him, Angela felt a hollowness spread through her chest, as if her soul had been ripped away. She sat there, staring blankly at the chairs across from her, the echoes of his words reverberating in her mind. The man she had loved was gone. Not dead, but gone in every way that mattered. The life they had shared, the memories they had made, it was all meaningless to him now. The Antonio she knew no longer existed, and the man who had taken his place had moved on without her. The tears kept streaming down her face as she clutched the edge of the table, trying to steady herself. Everything around her in the Café, blurred into nothingness, the soft murmur of other customers conversations were fading into a distant hum. All she could feel was the unbearable pain in her chest, the sharp, relentless ache of a heart that had been ripped apart. She wanted to scream, to cry out just to ease that pain but no sound came. She was trapped in her own silent agony, suffocating under the weight of her grief. Minutes passed, maybe hours....time lost all meaning as she sat there, dead inside, her spirit broken. Numbly, she motioned for the waiter and ordered a drink. Then another. And another. The alcohol burned her throat, but it was nothing compared to the fire raging in her heart. Each sip was an attempt to drown the pain, to numb the unbearable ache that gnawed at her insides but to no avail. As she drank, her tears continued streaming down her face uncontrollably. The café started to blur around her, the quiet murmur of conversations was fading into a distant hum. Hours passed in a haze, the alcohol doing little to soothe the raw, bleeding wounds inside her. Eventually, she managed to stand, though her legs felt weak, unsteady. She left the café, each step feeling like she was walking through a thick fog, aimless and lost. Outside, the world went on, oblivious to the devastation she felt. People walked by, cars honked in the distance. But for Angela, everything was dark, cold, lifeless. Antonio's last words continue to ring in her head. "Hinata, the woman I love. She is with my unborn child. If we are meant to be, perhaps I would have remembered you. This may be for the best." Angela didn't know where she was going. All she knew was that the man she loved was gone, and with him, a part of her had died too.
