third person's POV
In the afternoon, Melinda saw Vanya's internship company in the grad class group's internship list.
When she saw it was the Thompson family business, she gave a slight smile.
Melinda called the general manager of the Thompson family business, and he soon invited her to visit the company.
After all, she used to go to all kinds of events with Cliff and met a lot of people, so those connections were still useful.
General Manager Evans personally welcomed Melinda into the company and said, "Miss Coleman, it's our honor to have you intern with us!"
"Thanks. I knew the Thompson family business and Cliff had always worked together, so I wanted to intern here and learn some new things."
Melinda answered perfectly, clearly hinting at her relationship with Cliff.
Evans had a smile on his face—who in the business didn't know Cliff always brought Melinda to events?
It was said online that Cliff wanted to end his previous relationship just to make things official with Melinda. He didn't want to upset the future Mrs. Todd at this point.
"Look, who was that woman?"
"I don't know, Mr. Thompson greeted him in person, looks like it's not simple."
"Look at her. Was she some rich girl trying to experience real life or something?"
The people below started whispering again.
"Miss Coleman's abilities were obvious to all of us. Whatever position you wanted, we could offer it here!" Evans tried to please Melinda carefully.
Melinda sat in the general manager's chair, glanced at the office area outside, and wanted to look for Vanya, but didn't see her.
"Don't need a high position, after all, I came here to learn. I wonder if there was still an opening for the team leader?"
"Of course there was! But the team leader position was way beneath her. Miss Coleman was totally qualified for our vice president role."
Melinda smiled a little, "No need for the deputy director, I'm afraid people will talk."
"Okay! No problem. By the way, did you want to say hi to Cliff?"
Hearing this, Melinda felt a bit flustered and said, "Cliff doesn't know I'm out here for this internship. Mr. Thompson, you have to keep it a secret for me, or he'll blame me again for not telling him I'm working."
Evans got it right away: "I get it, I get it. Mr. Cliff cares about you and doesn't want you to work too hard. Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret!"
Melinda finally felt relieved.
Over here, Vanya and Calvert walked out of the company's shooting site side by side.
This scene happened to be seen by Melinda in the office.
"Miss Coleman, if there was no problem, we could sign the contract now."
"Wait a second." Melinda stared at Vanya and Calvert downstairs and asked, "What position did this employee have in the company?"
"She was also an intern from Wolf International Finance School, just a junior staff member, probably in the planning department, usually in charge of organizing documents and stuff like that."
"I was pretty interested in the planning department too, not sure if I could go there?"
"Of course! But someone as talented as Miss Coleman was better suited to stay in the finance department."
Melinda didn't say anything. She just wanted to openly step on Vanya at the company!
Now she and Cliff already had a real relationship, but Vanya probably didn't know yet.
If Vanya found out, she would definitely break up with Cliff, and then Cliff would see how great she was.
The more Melinda thought about it, the prouder she looked.
Soon, Evans specially accompanied Melinda to the planning department.
Melinda acted all superior, making everyone wonder who she was.
"This is Miss Melinda Coleman, she was going to be the team leader of our planning department. Let's give her a warm welcome!" Mr. Thompson introduced her himself, and everyone quickly applauded.
Melinda's eyes fell on Vanya. Vanya caught her challenging look and frowned a little.
Why did Melinda suddenly come to the Thompson family's business?
Although this time the internship was assigned by the school, she clearly remembered that every intern was supposed to be sent to a different company.
After Evans finished introducing Melinda, he left. Sabrina, who usually looked down on everyone, actually came over and praised Melinda: "A grad student from a top school really is different. I'll have to rely on your advice in the future."
Melinda had a polite smile on her face, but there was a hint of pride in her eyes.
Vanya couldn't be bothered to watch these people suck up, and was about to leave when Melinda suddenly called out to her, "Vanya, I didn't expect you to be interning at this company too. Can you have a coffee with me after work?"
Sabrina looked at Vanya, then at Melinda, and asked, "You guys know each other?"
Melinda was just about to speak, but Vanya answered first, "Not really."
After saying that, he turned and left.
A flash of embarrassment crossed Melinda's face, but Sabrina just shrugged and said, "She thinks she's all that just because she's pretty. She doesn't care about anyone else. I can't stand women like that!"
"Don't say that, maybe she had her reasons. Back in school, I remember she got into something like this before..."
Melinda said this and suddenly covered her mouth, pretending she had said something wrong, "Oh, I can't believe I just said that."
