Contract With Alpha Theodore

Chapter 169

Ch. 169 / 220 Apr 30, 2026

third person's POV

Vanya poured herself a cup of coffee. Calvert said, "But seeing how energetic you are now, you definitely weren't sick."

Vanya asked, "The work at the Thompson family business was almost done, right?"

"Leaving tomorrow." Calvert raised an eyebrow, "You're already missing me before I'm even gone?"

"Don't be so full of yourself, I was just worried that after you left, my days wouldn't be easy."

These days, the women in the company saw her as someone who would do anything to get ahead, and there were rumors saying she was a sugar baby back in school, doing shady stuff.

She knew all this was Melinda's idea, she just couldn't be bothered to care.

She was already swamped with stuff from the M Group, so there was no need to get hung up on trivial things with people who weren't worth it.

Calvert frowned, "Did they bully you?"

"Not yet, but I guess I will after you leave."

Those female employees didn't dare to mess with her these days because Calvert came to film every day, but once he left, who knew what would happen.

Calvert was silent for a moment. Vanya patted his shoulder and said seriously, "If soldiers come, I'll fight them; if water comes, I'll block it. I'll be fine."

Calvert was amused and grabbed Vanya's hand that patted his shoulder. "CEO Dalton, as your loyal partner, I would never just watch you get bullied."

"What are you going to do?" Vanya looked at him warily.

Calvert blinked one eye and made a shushing gesture: "Keep it secret."

Vanya felt confused.

The next day, the news that Calvert finished filming and left the Thompson family business spread throughout the whole company.

Vanya went back to her desk, but found the files on it all messy, and there were a bunch of sticky notes on the computer.

"Vanya, you've been following Calvert these days and didn't do your internship work well. Miss Coleman asked me to give you this. You had to finish it today, or you might lose your internship grade."

The female employee next to her put a stack of files on her desk.

Vanya looked at the stack of files that was almost as tall as the computer, then glanced back at Melinda, who was grinning smugly at her in the office.

Sure enough, this happened, just didn't expect Melinda to be only this capable.

She walked to the desk, counted the files, and asked, "I remember this file check was supposed to be handed to you by Sabrina yesterday, right?"

The female employee showed no fear: "So what? I'm a full-time employee, giving you the files means I trust you!"

Vanya sneered, "May I ask, who could check all these reports in one day and also come up with ten matching proposals?"

The female employee felt a bit guilty, but she still talked tough: "Vanya, this was a learning opportunity for you, so don't be ungrateful! Our Thompson family business was a listed company, well-known in the industry. An intern like you, who got into the Wolf International Finance School's research program through connections, was lucky to get an internship here!"

Vanya laughed at that—What age are we living in? Someone still has the nerve to say something so gross.

"Who told you I got into Wolf International Finance School through the back door?"

"Of course it was..."

The female employee almost blurted it out but swallowed it back, "Vanya, facts are facts, everyone in the company knew you pulled strings. Otherwise, how could you have gotten an internship at the Thompson family business?"

"I wasn't the only one who came here for an internship, so you mean everyone who interned at the Thompson family business got in through connections?"

The female employee was at a loss for words.

At that moment, Melinda came out of the office: "Vanya, do you think you can't handle the work I gave you?"

She wasn't pretending anymore and stood in front of Vanya like a winner.

"Miss Coleman, Vanya said she couldn't do these." The female staff quickly chimed in.

Melinda said, "I could do this work, other people could do it too, so how come you couldn't? Or are you just here to slack off and get an internship certificate? If that's your attitude, I really need to talk to Mr. Thompson and see if you can actually finish your internship."

The atmosphere in the workspace got tense all of a sudden.

Vanya gave a slight smile—really didn't know where Melinda's sense of superiority came from.

"Sure, but before you talk to Mr. Thompson, let me have your seat first."

Melinda frowned, "What did you mean by that?"

"Very simple, just the literal meaning." As soon as Vanya finished speaking, two rows of bodyguards in black walked into the company entrance.

Stewart, who was leading, walked up to her and said respectfully, "CEO Dalton, this is the contract for Mr. Calvert and the Thompson Family Enterprises Jewelry for this period."

The employees around saw this kind of scene for the first time and were all stunned.

Even Melinda's face changed a bit.

She only knew Vanya was the eldest daughter of the Dalton family, but she never expected that Vanya actually ran the Dalton family's company!

"What? Miss Coleman didn't tell everyone who I was?"

Vanya stood there, her smile bright but sharp, "I'm Vanya, the daughter of the Dalton Group, and also Cliff's legal wife."

When everyone heard this, their faces all changed, and then they all looked at Melinda.

Cliff's legal wife was Vanya, so didn't that make Melinda the third wheel?

Melinda felt the strange looks around her and secretly clenched her fists.
