third person's POV
"I just wanted to let you know, I didn't mean to ask you to come with me, it's fine if you didn't pick up."
Vanya didn't want to argue with him here, "If you came to apologize, then I'm telling you I don't blame you anymore, can we go now?"
Cliff was at a loss for words and just quietly stepped aside.
Vanya and Grace got in the car and soon drove into the neighborhood.
Cliff looked in the direction Vanya left, turned on his phone, and there just weren't any missed calls from earlier in the day in his call log.
He frowned, and the scene flashed through his mind of waking up groggy during the day and seeing Melinda naked beside him...
Cliff rubbed his brow and called Beta Elliot.
Beta Elliot picked up quickly, and Cliff said, "Go check if something happened at the Dalton family dinner today. Let me know as soon as you hear anything."
"Yes, Alpha Cliff."
"One more thing." Cliff's voice turned cold, "Cut off all help to Melinda."
Veronica had already broken up once before, but he secretly asked Beta Elliot to keep helping her.
But now he felt that he should've just cut all ties with Melinda back then.
At this moment, Melinda upstairs in the building was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window watching this. She went crazy and smashed everything on the table.
Last night, she and Cliff got intimate in bed. She thought Cliff would make it official with her when he woke up the next day, but he just looked at her with disgust and left without saying a word!
Cliff waited downstairs all night just to wait for Vanya!
"Vanya! It was all this Vanya!"
Melinda threw away the scented candle in her hand.
She finally got him yesterday, but even in bed, Cliff was still calling out Vanya's name!
Why? She wasn't willing!
"Ding ding—"
Melinda got a call from Beta Elliot. His voice was cold: "Miss Coleman, Alpha Cliff already sent someone to pack your things. Please get ready to move out."
Melinda asked warily, "Move out? Move where?"
"Alpha Cliff already ordered to stop all help for you, Miss Coleman, of course you moved back to the dorm."
Melinda looked shocked: "No way! He couldn't have done this to me!"
She couldn't go back! She had bragged in front of her roommate before.
Now Fuen and Raven were still in the dorm!
She couldn't become their laughingstock!
Melinda hurried to pull out her phone, wanting to call Cliff. Beta Elliot watched coldly from the side: "Miss Coleman, don't bother. Alpha Cliff won't answer your call."
Melinda didn't believe it. She called Cliff again and again, but all her calls just disappeared.
She totally broke down, rushed over and dropped to her knees, grabbing Beta Elliot's sleeve and begging, "Elliot, please help me... I can't just leave like this, can you call Alpha Cliff for me?"
Beta Elliott frowned.
Melinda cried her heart out: "I... I already belonged to Alpha Cliff. If he didn't want me, he could just say so! But he couldn't treat me like this!"
Without Cliff's support, she was nothing at school!
Had to go back to those days when I couldn't get enough to eat or wear, and still got eye-rolls from classmates.
Beta Elliot finally softened up and handed the phone to Melinda, saying coldly, "Even if Alpha Cliff answers, it won't help. Once he decides something, no one can change his mind. Besides... you brought this on yourself!"
He had followed Alpha Cliff for so long and had always been just a bystander.
Melinda's tricks in the past, he did notice them, it's just that Alpha Cliff was too caught up in it.
Melinda couldn't listen to Beta Elliot at all right now and called Cliff right away.
The phone rang just once, and Cliff picked it up.
"Is it done?"
Hearing Cliff's voice, Melinda got excited: "Cliff... why didn't you want me anymore! If I did something wrong, I can change! Will you forgive me?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end when they heard it was Melinda's voice.
Cliff said coldly, "Who drugged me last night, and who deleted Vanya's call record from my phone this morning? Do I even need to say it?"
Melinda's face suddenly froze.
She did drug him, and in the morning she also deleted Vanya's call log to Cliff, but Cliff used to be really tolerant of her! Besides, they had already slept together!
"Cliff... but I really liked you..." Melinda's voice was weak.
Cliff just hung up the phone without any mercy.
"Miss Coleman, please." Beta Elliot took back the phone. A few workers came in from outside and packed up all of Melinda's personal things in the room.
Melinda collapsed on the ground in despair. Was this... really the only ending she could have?
At this moment, Vanya, who had already returned to the apartment, pulled open the curtains of the floor-to-ceiling window and saw the movers downstairs.
She recognized Beta Elliot, and she also saw that the one coming out with lots of bags was Melinda.
"What happened? Melinda got kicked out by Cliff?" Grace, who was watching the drama, said.
Vanya frowned, "I thought it was weird too. Why did Cliff want Melinda to move for no reason?"
"How about I get someone to check it out?"
"Forget it, it had nothing to do with me." Vanya put down the curtain, "I just thought Cliff looked really weird today."
"Really?" Grace didn't think so.
Vanya, though, felt like she saw guilt in Cliff's eyes today.
Late at night, Beta Elliot finished dealing with Melinda's stuff and went back to the company.
