Carrying the Lycan Cursed child

chapter 15

Ch. 15 / 30 Mar 26, 2026

POV Kali

That evening, Zion personally came to escort me to his private chambers. His scent carried warm anticipation and something else. A deep contentment that made my wolf purr with satisfaction.

"From tonight on, you'll sleep here with me," he said, leading me along corridors that smelled strongly of his presence. "This is our shared space now."

The chambers were even more magnificent than I remembered, but what caught my attention was the adjoining dressing room that had been prepared for me. New clothes hung in organized rows, and my few belongings from the harem quarters had been carefully arranged.

"I want you here with me," he explained, his hands gentle on my shoulders. "Not just for physical intimacy, but because I've spent too many years sleeping alone, dreaming of a mate who might never exist. Now that I've found you, I don't want to waste a single night without you beside me."

His words overwhelmed me completely. In eight years of marriage, Kastian had never made such deliberate effort or expressed genuine desire for my constant presence. Usually he'd seemed relieved when I stayed in my own chambers.

"You really want me here?" I asked, still hardly believing it.

"Every night," he said firmly, pulling me into his arms. "Every morning when I wake up, every evening when I return from council meetings. I want your scent on my pillows, your presence filling this space that's been empty for too long."

When he kissed me, it was with passionate intensity that made my knees weak. I responded with growing confidence in my own desirability, marveling at how different this felt from my mechanical encounters with Kastian.

"You're so beautiful," he murmured against my lips, his hands beginning to explore my body with reverent attention. "So perfect, and finally mine."

His touch sent waves of heat across me, and I could feel our mate bond strengthening with every caress. This was what I'd dreamed of during all those lonely nights. Being truly wanted, genuinely desired.

"You're mine now," he whispered as his hands traced my curves, his scent growing richer with desire. "My mate, my queen, my everything. I want to show you every night how precious you are."

I melted into his embrace, my wolf singing with joy at our mate's attention. Every touch felt reverent, worshipful, like he was memorizing every inch of me.

"I love you," I breathed against his throat, tasting his skin and feeling him shudder in response.

"And I love you," he replied, his voice rough with emotion. "More than I thought possible."

Just as our passion was building toward consummation, urgent knocking echoed from the chamber doors. We both froze, breathing heavily.

"Your Majesty," Healer Morwyn's voice carried unmistakable anxiety through the thick wood. "I must speak with you both immediately. I've discovered something about the ancient prophecies that cannot wait."

I saw the frustration war with concern on Zion's face. His scent shifted from desire to protective worry as he recognized the distress in the healer's voice.

"Come," he called reluctantly, helping me straighten my gown as the doors opened.

Healer Morwyn entered, her face pale and her hands trembling slightly. Her scent carried fear and urgency that made my wolf go on alert.

"Forgive the interruption," she said, her eyes moving between us before settling on my face. "But what I've discovered cannot wait until morning."

She approached me slowly, her expression growing more concerned. "Luna Kali, you mentioned feeling strange earlier today. The fatigue, the moments of unusual strength. May I examine you?"

I nodded, remembering the odd sensations I'd experienced. Moments where I felt like I could move mountains, followed by exhaustion so complete I could barely stand.

She gently placed her weathered hands on my belly. Her eyes closed, and for several seconds the room was completely quiet. I could feel a strange warmth emanating from her touch, something that seemed to reach deep inside me.

Then her eyes snapped open, and I gasped at what I saw there. Wonder mixed with terrible fear.

"You are with child, Luna Kali," she said quietly. "I can feel both of your energies inside you. The child grows strong and healthy."

Joy exploded inside me, so intense I nearly collapsed. "Really? You're certain?"

"Completely certain," she confirmed, but her scent remained troubled instead of celebratory.

Zion's arms came around me from behind, his scent flooding with overwhelming relief and happiness. I felt his fierce protectiveness and love.

"The curse will be broken," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "Our child will save my life."

But Healer Morwyn's expression grew even more sorrowful. "That's what I need to tell you," she said, reaching into her bag with shaking hands. "The symptoms you described, combined with what I sense in the child... they're unprecedented. I must research the ancient texts immediately to understand what we're facing."

She pulled out a small crystal vial filled with golden liquid. "This elixir will help stabilize your condition while I study the prophecies. The pregnancy symptoms you're experiencing suggest this child is unlike any before them."

My blood turned cold at her tone. "What kind of different?"

"I'm not certain yet," she said honestly. "But the energy fluctuations, the supernatural strength followed by weakness... these aren't normal pregnancy symptoms. I need time to understand what the old prophecies truly say about the King's heir."

I placed my hand over my belly, where our child was growing. The joy of pregnancy was now shadowed by uncertainty about what carrying this baby might mean.

"How long will your research take?" I asked.

"I'll work through the night," Morwyn said gently. "But I wanted you to drink this elixir immediately. It should help with the energy fluctuations and protect both mother and child."

I drank the golden liquid quickly, feeling its warmth spread across my body. Almost immediately, the exhaustion that had been pressing at the edges of my consciousness began to fade.

"I'll return tomorrow with answers," Morwyn promised. "Until then, rest and let the elixir work."

After she left, Zion and I held each other with tender desperation. Neither of us spoke about the healer's concerns, but we both understood that our perfect happiness had just become more complicated.

"Whatever the research reveals," Zion said firmly, "we'll face it together. Our child is a blessing, and I won't let ancient prophecies steal our joy."

"I love you," I whispered against his chest. "Both of you. Whatever comes next, I love you."

"And I love you," he replied, pressing his lips to my hair. "More than life itself."

As I drifted off to sleep in his arms, I tried to focus on the warmth of our love rather than the cold knowledge that something about this pregnancy was far from ordinary.
