Carrying the Lycan Cursed child

chapter 10

Ch. 10 / 30 Mar 26, 2026

POV Kali

The choice hung between us, heavy with consequences that would reshape not just our lives but the entire political landscape of the kingdom. My heat continued to build, making it harder and harder to think clearly, but I forced myself to consider what Zion was really offering.

Suppressants would mean denying the bond, maintaining the status quo, potentially allowing political negotiations to resolve the crisis. But letting nature take its course meant fully accepting him as my mate, irreversibly binding myself to him, and possibly conceiving the heir he desperately needed to survive.

"If I choose you," I whispered, my voice barely audible over the sound of my own thundering heartbeat, "there's no going back. Not to Kastian, not to my old life, not to the woman I was before tonight."

Zion nodded solemnly, his silver eyes never leaving mine. "And if I claim you completely, if we bond as mates should, I'm asking you to tie your life to mine - including the very real possibility that I might die before we can spend our life together."

The brutal honesty should have terrified me, but instead it made me feel cherished. He was giving me the choice, not taking it from me the way every other major decision in my life had been made by men who thought they knew better.

Another wave of heat crashed over me, stronger than the previous ones, and I gripped the silk sheets beneath me as my wolf howled for its mate.

"I can't fight it anymore," I gasped, looking up at Zion with amber eyes that begged for relief. "I don't want to fight it anymore."

Zion's careful control finally broke at my words. His pupils dilated as his own wolf responded to my desperate need.

"Then don't fight," he said, his voice rough with desire. "Let me take care of you the way you deserve. Let me show you what it means to be truly wanted."

When his mouth found mine, the kiss was completely different from anything I'd experienced with Kastian. This wasn't dutiful or mechanical - this was desperate, passionate, and felt absolutely right. Years of suppressed desire and wolf instinct exploded through my system as our bond finally completed itself.

His hands were gentle but sure as they began removing my gown, and for the first time in years, I didn't feel shame about my body. Instead, I saw myself reflected in his silver eyes and realized I was beautiful to him - not despite my soft curves but because of them.

"Perfect," he breathed against my skin, his lips tracing paths that made me shiver. "Every curve, every inch - perfect."

When he pulled back to look at me, his eyes were full of wonder and desire that made my heart race.

"Mine," he growled softly against my throat, and the possessive word sent shivers through my entire being.

"Say it again," I whispered, my hands tangling in his dark hair. "Say I'm yours."

"You're mine, Kali," he declared with absolute conviction, his voice carrying the weight of unbreakable vows. "My mate, my salvation, my everything."

As he began to worship my body with a reverence I'd never experienced, I finally understood the difference between duty and desire, between being endured and being treasured. Every touch, every kiss spoke of genuine want rather than obligation.

For the first time in eight years, I felt truly wanted, truly cherished.

The mate bond sang between us as we surrendered to what we both knew was inevitable - the claiming that would change everything, the connection that might save his life and finally give meaning to mine.

In this moment, as passion overwhelmed us both, the political chaos outside these walls faded to nothing. There was only this - the rightness of finding each other, the desperate hope that our union might break an ancient curse, and the overwhelming certainty that whatever consequences followed, this choice was mine.

And I chose him.
