Alpha's Wife Hunt

Chapter 262

Ch. 262 / 840 May 06, 2026

Tabitha's POV

I saw two red lines on the white rectangular strip clearly.

One was very dark, and the other was much lighter.

Instantly, I found it hard to breathe. My mind went blank.

I was pregnant! There was a baby inside me!

Amidst all the complex emotions, the first one I felt was joy.

When I looked up and saw myself in the mirror, my face was already covered in tears.

I had spent a year and a half to overcome the pain of losing my baby. Now I was actually pregnant again.

I cried tears of joy.

But soon, I realized that being pregnant at this time might not be a good thing.

Even though I managed to stay alive for more than half a year, as long as there was still wolfsbane in my system, it remained a hidden time bomb.

Once the bomb went off, both I and my baby would die.

But when I thought about the fact that a new life was growing inside me again, I couldn't help but smile. The joy of being a mother-to-be made my face glow.

I instinctively raised my left hand and placed it on my lower abdomen, smiling, even though the baby was still like a tiny seed and hadn't formed yet.

As my tears fell one by one onto the washbasin, I whispered, "Baby, is it you? You've come back to me, right?"

I was haunted by nightmares for over a year. In every one of my nightmares, I heard a kid call me Mommy.

Now, my baby was finally back to me. I was so overjoyed.

I now had one more reason to keep going.

However, this feeling of joy was soon overshadowed by complex emotions.

I closed my eyes and began a conversation with Crystal in my mind.

"Crystal, can you feel it?" I asked deep within my heart, searching if she could sense the sign of new life.

Her voice rang out in my mind. She said, a bit surprised, "I feel something different, Tabitha. If it is what you think, we must be careful."

"I know," I replied, feeling a little apprehensive. "If Derek finds out, who knows what he's gonna do? I won't let him hurt our baby."

I swore I'd protect my baby this time even if it cost me my life.

In the short ten minutes, I experienced great mood swings.

I slowly walked out only after I collected myself. My footsteps were firm.

Women were born weak, but those with kids were the toughest. I was given a second chance, and from now on, I once again had someone to protect.

Right after I left the bathroom, as I looked up, I met Derek's inquisitive gaze. Startled, I looked at him, annoyed. "Why are you here?"

Shouldn't he be with Dad for rehabilitation now?

"Tabitha, you don't look well. I heard you hadn't eaten much these days, so I called for a doctor to come here and check on you."

I panicked.

I didn't want to get entangled with him, so I immediately said coldly, "How am I supposed to have an appetite when I see your face every day?"

He was a bit aggrieved. "You once said you wanna eat with me."

"That was before," I said.

He fell silent for a second.

What had happened already became a barrier between us, and I just couldn't get over it.

"Tabitha, as I said, Elena would never show up in your life again. I don't expect you to forgive her. I just want you to be happy."

I sneered, "You wanna see me happy? Sure. I'll be happy once I see either you or her dead."

"Tabitha..."

"Piss off! I don't wanna see you. I'm fine. I'm healthier than anyone."

I drove Derek out.
