ADRIA’S POV
“Just jump! Do you think you’re the only ones bungee jumping today!?” Stacy shrieked when the guys took much longer than they were supposed to.
“Okay, wait!” Tommy shrieked.
“We’re going to jump now. Okay… we’re jumping.” Daniel shouted, and they began to move towards the edge slowly.
“Just shove them!” Stacy shouted to the staff behind them, and they laughed a little. “Other people want to jump! Shove them!” Stacy shrieked once more, and I bent over laughing.
“We’re going to do this!” Daniel said, but they weren’t moving.
“Alright. This is how you guys play, uh? I’m filming this! First thing in the morning, you’re going to see yourselves being scared ladies, and maybe even better screamers!” I screamed, holding up my phone, and Stacy giggled.
“Damn you!” Daniel shrieked, and flung himself, and Tommy off.
“Woah!” Stacy shouted, jumping in excitement.
It was epic as the boys screamed, and I had it all filmed.
“Damn, damn, damn, damn! I’m going to put some good music on this!” I yelled, feeling elated.
“Yeah!” Stacy screamed in my ear, and my eardrum almost split.
The boys screamed like ladies as they fell, and it was the funniest thing ever.
When it was evening, the four of us walked, giggling on the street, as we rewatched the video of the guys screaming.
“But, seriously, was that really me?” Daniel asked, taking the phone.
“Yeah, you said; Damn youuuuaaaaaaaah!” Stacy mimicked him, flailing her hands in the air, and even Daniel himself laughed.
“This is embarrassing. Please don’t upload it.” Daniel begged, but Tommy knocked my head.
“See? She’s returning to the evil Adria she used to be.” Tommy said, and I held up the phone.
“Evil uh? I’ll show you what evil is on my Instagram page!” I bellowed, and lowered my phone, trying to share the video to Instagram.
“Oh my God! You’re the angel! You’re the angel, darling!” Daniel said, hugging me, and the four of us burst into laughter.
We went to the cinema next, and picked a romantic movie to watch, which the boys grumbled about. Stacy was ecstatic.
“Woah… So Jana likes Carl?” I asked, half an hour into the movie, with my eyes fixed on the screen.
“And Carl likes Faye, who in turn likes Douglas.” Stacy added.
“And the crazy Douglas loves Jana. What a love circle. They’re all looking at people who would never look at them.” Daniel muttered, clapping his hands, and I stuffed popcorn into his mouth.
“Your voice is too deep. I can’t hear them.” I snapped, and he kept quiet.
We continued to watch the complicated love circle which was none like I had ever seen, and after the movie, Stacy and I were drunk in love.
“It was epic! They all gave each other up for each other! Just imagine!” Stacy squealed.
“Then they realized they were involved in a messy tangle, and they decided to give up their love, for friendship.” I added.
“That’s because it’s a movie. If you love someone, can you give them up that easily?” Tommy asked.
“Hell, no.” I replied, giggling, and they all began to tease me about Lucien.
When I got home, Mum was cooking.
“Hey, Adria. I saw you hanging out with Stacy and the guys tonight. Saw your Instagram post. It was lit, Adria.” She mentioned, as I walked towards her.
“Thanks mum.” I replied, and leaned against the counter. “You know, at first… When I discovered I was a vampire. It was like… my world was turned upside down. I didn’t know where to start. Nor did I know how to. It suddenly felt like everyone in my life was useless, as they couldn’t bring me out of my misery. What could Stacy and the guys do? They were nothing but humans, and couldn’t understand the depth of my sorrow.” I began to explain, slowly.
“Aw, sweetie.”
“That was how I felt. I was just so confused. They were just there, asking to hang out when I had bigger things on my mind, Lucien was not talking to me, and… and… I think that was where many things went wrong, but tonight…. I realized they were meant to be the little sweetness in a bitter life.”
“Sweetness, uh?” My mum commented with a light smile.
“Yeah. They were meant to keep me happy in my times of sorrow. They were there, so I could keep on hoping, and living. So, I could hold on, and today, I realized just how much they meant to me. I’m never leaving them.” I finalized, turning to the counter to help her with anything I could.
“I’m happy you found your happiness, darling. I’m happy you know how much they mean to you now. I know a lot of things happened to you, and I’m glad you overcame it.”
“Can I tell you something?” I asked, turning away from her.
“You killed all those cows, and were involved with the cases of missing people…” She said slowly, and I stopped moving. The fact that she knew made me sad.
She must have waited for me to realize my mistakes, and it hurt that I was only realizing them now.
Just then, her arms wrapped around me from behind.
“You were confused, and didn’t know whom to follow, but now you do. I’m glad you know what to do now.” She said softly, and a tear escaped my eye.
Then she thrust some notes in front of me.
“We’re out of milk, darling. Do me a favor of going to the store, would you?” She asked, and I giggled.
“Alright!” I replied enthusiastically, taking the money, and turning to her.
“No matter what, you’re still my baby girl.” She said, holding my shoulder, with pride in her eyes, as she roamed her eyes over me.
“Thank you for raising me.” I said, and turned, bouncing out of the house, and into the night.
The breeze was very cool on my face as I walked, and I felt fulfilled.
“I should continue my tutoring lessons with Lucien. I’m falling behind, and those damn exams are around the corner again.” I muttered, as I scrolled through my contacts, searching for Lucien’s number.
“Aaa….” I began to scream, as I was suddenly pulled aside into a corner.
However, my scream was cut off by a powerful hand on my mouth, then I gazed into the face that towered over me.
Derek.
