Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 90

Ch. 90 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

LUCIEN’S POV.

I sat back, and gave it a good thought. She had suddenly started acting all happy. I should have known that something was wrong. She was also looking a little healthier.

When we had stopped at the same stall to buy snacks, cows had stopped by, and shortly she had run off.

She wasn’t an experienced vampire, so it made sense she saw the cows, and tried to satisfy herself with them when she got the urge.

But could she really be responsible for the missing people?

Would Adria really kill people? What was she doing? I was barely trying to stay on my own, and avoid her. Why was she doing something else that would definitely catch my attention in a bad way?

One more missing person, and I was going to have to warn her. I couldn’t bear watching the humans go amiss when the killer might possibly be in my hands.

One more human missing would prove a lot because the guilt on her face would show immediately I asked her about it.

I was disappointed in her. She knew how much havoc the vampires were wreaking on the humans, yet she decided to join them?

The other vampires who were probably keeping their peace might decide to make her join them, and that would be too bad.

I was just too confused at the moment, and I wondered if letting another human go missing before taking a step was the right thing to do.

ADRIA’S POV.

“What are you thinking of?” Derek asked me, as we walked out of the forest to hunt humans.

“Well, nothing…”

“You’re amazing. You know I can’t read your mind anymore, right? You’ve gotten a whole lot stronger after the blood drinking. You can hypnotize too. I’m pretty sure if you try to read the minds of humans, you’ll be successful.” He replied, and I stopped. That was what I had started taking blood for.

I had wanted to be able to read Lucien’s mind, but none of that mattered at the moment. We had been apart for too long, for me to start hoping he still had something for me.

It would only break my heart if I realized he had stopped caring, so I felt I was better off not knowing.

What had I been thinking? He was the Alpha of his people, and wolves were a loyal bunch. There was no way he’d keep a vampire by his side, was there?

And if he learned about me succumbing to my desire for blood, he’d hate me even more, and might try to eliminate me like other vampires. I just wondered if loyalty was that strong enough to cover up the love he had had for me, because I was very sure Lucien had loved me.

“Why are you so eager to read minds? Is there a certain person whose mind you want to read?” Derek asked, and I gave a deep sigh, then nodded slowly. It was time I let him know about me and Lucien.

“My boyfriend is a wolf. Although, I… I don’t think we’re dating anymore or stuff like that. It was… it was his mind I wanted to read.”

“Adria. You can’t read the mind of a wolf. Those beings are so strong that they guard their minds just as well as their bodies. You should have told me. What rank is he? Beta? Omega?”

“An Alpha, actually. Lucien.”

“What? Lucien?” He asked in shock, then snarled. “That is who you’re dating?”

“Yeah, what?”

“He’s the wolf sent to destroy all vampires. He will destroy you if he guesses for a second that you’re a vampire.”

“He kind of knows. That was why we… you know, stopped going out.” I explained, tucking my hair behind my ear.

“He’s heartless. Adria, it’s time to forget all about him. You know what, just come with me. Let’s hunt, and have some fun.” Derek pulled my hands, and I smiled.

We raced each other out of the forest, and I was glad I had let down a little of my burden.

We both preyed on humans, watching them carefully, and when I saw the perfect one for me, I made a bee-line for her.

“Hey, hi.” I waved.

“Hi.” She said, raising a hand in return.

“On your way to the club?” I asked, noticing the way she was dressed.

“Uh, actually no.” She laughed. “An high school party. In high school these days, you have to slay a party in your best clothes, if you want some recognition.” She replied cheerfully, pointing to her bag, and clothes.

“Will you follow me?” I asked, locking eyes with her, and her expression relaxed slowly, her eyes becoming vacant.

It was so easy… Human minds were really fickle, weak, and uncomplicated.

I turned away, and signaled to Derek, who smiled. The human girl followed me sweetly, into the forest, and deeper within.

When we got in deeper, I waited for Derek, and she waited with me. He brought a male with him, and laughed.

“I want these two to unite when they die, so they won’t get lonely.” He joked, standing behind the hypnotized guy, and I joined him in his laughter.

I got behind the girl, tilted her neck, and sank my teeth deep into a vein. She screamed, but I placed a strong hand on her mouth, blocking her scream.

Those screams no longer got to me.

On my way back home, I hummed a song to myself joyfully. I was returning quite early, so even if my mum was home, she wouldn’t think much of it.

“Hey!” I called, as I saw Stacy a few feet away, getting ice cream for herself.

“Adria!” She squealed. “Make one more after mine, please.” She asked the man pooling out cream onto a cone for her, and I ran to them.

“Hey Stacy…”

“Gosh, you smell foul. What have you been doing?” She asked, moving closer, and sniffing me.

“I smell foul? That’s impossible.” I replied, and she handed over the ready ice cream to me.

“What were you doing? Killing chickens?” She asked, and I swallowed, trying to sniff myself.

I had never for once, smelt like blood after drinking it. The only time I had smelled foul was when I was drinking the blood in the tumblers I had filled with cow blood. The smell had filled the room, and my mum had noticed it.

Shortly, we got Stacy’s ice cream, but when we turned to leave, she suddenly stopped me.

“Adria… look. There's blood on your jacket.” She pointed, and I looked at her first, wondering if she was joking, before looking down, and seeing a large amount of blood on my jacket.

How it had gotten there, I had no idea.
