Introducing James to The Business

After staying home for two days, Julia was ready to return to work, and it was the same day James was also going with Jason to work after his mother, Mrs Haward, convinced him to take James to work with him.

Julia was already up and ready for work. She put on a simple black dress, with two fastened buttons at the front and a zipper at the back. The style was so simple; it didn't make her the centre of attraction, but equally didn't hide her like a backdrop. She stepped out of the room and quickly went downstairs, as Jason had already left the room. Upon getting to the stairs, she surveyed the place as she descended to make sure she didn't run into any of Jason's relatives. Reaching the last stairs, she quickly made her way to the door and went out of the building. Jason saw her back as she was running towards the door, and he frowned, but he didn't stop her either. He had just come out of his study.

"Good morning, sir," greeted the servant who had just entered the living room.

"Good morning," Jason replied. "Is James awake?" he inquired.

"No, sir," replied the servant, and Jason nodded, heading towards James' room.

He knocked on the door several times before James answered by opening the door. His hair was dishevelled, and he was still in his sleepwear. His eyes still looked heavy with sleep and there were visible love bite marks on his neck. Jason frowned.

"It's Monday morning," Jason informed him.

"Huh, what about it?" James asked and yawned.

Jason took two steps backwards, his face darkening as he could smell the stink of alcohol from James's breath.

"You were supposed to come with me to work today, but I guess you are not ready," Jason said and turned to leave.

James knew if he stayed at home, his mother would not be happy with him, so he stopped Jason before he could leave.

"Wait, give me 10 minutes, I will be ready," James said, and closed his door and turned to the lady in his bed.

"Hey, I have to go to work. When you are ready to leave, call me," James said, and entered the bathroom as the lady nodded and covered herself with the blanket.

James and Jason went down to the garage where six guards were waiting for Jason. One guard opened the back seat of the black Maybach for Jason and James just sat in his car, a Rolls-Royce phantom.

"Where is Julia?" Jason asked as soon as he sat down. He was expecting Julia to wait for him in the car.

"Sir, she left," replied Peter, who was already sitting behind the wheel and Jason frowned.

"And you didn't deem it important to alert me?" Jason asked, and Peter went silent. "I don't want this to happen again," he added, and picked up his phone, sending a message to someone.

Jason got a quick reply informing him Julia was at work and already at her station working. After reading, his gaze shifted from the phone screen to the rearview mirror.

"Let's go," Jason commanded, and the engine came to life and soon three cars drove out of the compound.

The first Maybach had four guards occupying it, followed by Jason's car with two guards and James's car. James was driving himself. They soon arrived after half an hour and went up to the building with Jason flanked by the guards.

At Jason's office, Jason spent half of the day walking James through everything he needed to know about business management, after which he handed him over to one of the top managers to take him on a tour of the company. Two guards were with Jason all the time, and the rest positioned themselves at vantage points. Once James left his office, the two guards proceeded to position themselves in front of the door. Jason put on the monitor and focused the camera on Julia, who was seriously working on a new building design. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail, and it dangles behind her anytime she moves. From the screen, Jason admired Julia and stretched his hand to touch her face on the screen. Something about her made him feel different, even though his childhood trauma had made him distance himself from women in general, it was different with her. His finger traced the curve of her face on the screen, but a knock on the door made him switch off the monitor immediately, withdrawing his hand from the screen as his gaze went to the door.

"Good morning, sir, the clients are here," announced the secretary.

"What time is the meeting," asked Jason.

"It's in 20 minutes, sir," he replied, and Jason nodded, dismissing him.

Jason put the monitor back on but couldn't find Julia. He checked all the cameras but couldn't find her. He sat up in his seat and started checking the cameras in the hallways and finally found her coming out of the lady's. He relaxed in his seat, watching her walk back to her department, and he smiled. He left for the meeting after watching her for a while.

Under Jason's instructions, James was sent to an office on the second floor. It was well-decorated, and the ambience was great. James was put in charge of handling internal affairs. He was given a secretary who would be assisting him and planning his itinerary for the day.

James sat behind his desk and spun in his seat admiring his environment. Somehow, he did like it. He recalls seeing Julia in one of the departments during his tour of the company. In all the departments he visited, he only kept his memory, Julia's. Picking up his phone, he dialled the secretary's extension number.

"Get the lady from the architecture department to come over to my office," James ordered.

The secretary was surprised by James's request but obeyed him anyway. He went to fetch Julia and brought her to James's office. Julia entered the office, wondering why James had summoned her to his office. Today was James's first day, and he was yet to start working, so what could he possibly want with her?

"Sit," James ordered, and Julia hesitantly sat down on the chair in front of his desk.

"So, what do you do here in this company?" James asked.

"I sketch the designs for all the building projects," Julia replied.

"I see," James responded, getting up from his seat and moving to the front of his desk and leaning against the edge of the table.

Julia looked at him standing close to her on her left side.

"So, is that all you do?" James asked and Julia replied and wondered why he was asking her all those questions on his first day working there.

"Not really, I do assist with administrative works towards the end of the day," Julia replied work, not giving lots of details.

James moved away from the table, placed his hand on Julia's shoulders and stood behind her seat fully, placing the other hand on her other shoulder. She tensed up immediately.

"Relax, I'm not going to bite," James said and slipped his hand down her shoulder to her chest. Julia quickly got up from the seat, but James quickly pulled her back onto the seat, forcing her head up by holding her jaw.
