New Apartment

"Let the news go viral," Mrs Haward said as the call connected with a broad smile on her face.

"Today is my lucky day," Mrs Haward said after disconnecting the call with a laugh. "Hey, bring me some wine. I have to celebrate my victory," she said to a servant who was heading for the kitchen.

The servant nodded in acknowledgement and returned shortly with a bottle of red wine and a glass.

"Add another glass to it, idiot. Are you blind, can't you see we are two here?" Mrs Haward said angrily, and the servant apologized and quickly went to get another glass.

Mrs Haward filled the two glasses with wine and offered one to Mirenda, who accepted it. Mirenda was just silent on the matter. She may have supported getting things this far; Grandpa is dead, Jason and Julia are out of the house and James, the womanizer, will be taking over the company, but was this right? Mirenda sat in silence with these thoughts on her mind as she tried to force a smile on her face as her mother celebrated her achievements.

"Cheers to us for retrieving what belongs to us from the bastard child," Mrs Haward said and raised her glass to Mirenda, who responded to the toast but could not drink her wine.

Mrs Haward put on some music and decided to dance to her success as she sipped her wine. Mirenda was glued to her seat as she forced a smile on her face anytime she met the gaze of her mother.

Meanwhile, Jason and Julia, upon leaving the apartment, had to stop by a clothing store as Mrs Haward didn't allow them to leave the apartment with any of their clothing. With no guards available to run the errands for him, Jason had to put on a disguise to enter the shop to prevent being recognised by anyone. Julia entered the shop with him, and they picked up several pieces of clothing, from casual, official, sleepwear, etc. Peter followed the normal routine of making the payment with Jason's card as he exited the shop with Julia trailing behind him.

The shop attendant knew Peter as he was the person who usually did the payment for Jason. She was, however, surprised to see a female among the guards of Mr Jason Haward. This is because she had mistaken Jason to be one of the guards and hence her conclusion that Julia was an employee.

"Mr Haward," the lady said with lots of excitement in her voice. "Is Mr Haward employing females to work closely with him now, or it's just for the purchase of the female outfits for his mum or sister?" she asked and Peter just smiled.

"Yeah, females have better judgment of gifts for females," Peter replied as he took the bags of clothing from the attendant.

"Why is Mr Haward buying so many clothes, a party coming up?" the lady asked with curiosity.

"You are too inquisitive," Peter replied with his usual charming smile, making the lady blush as she watched Peter exit the shop.

Peter arrived where he parked the car with a cart of bags. He opened the car boot and offloaded the bags into the car. Jason had to sit in the car to avoid being recognized by anyone, as Peter alone would not be able to drive away the media should that happen. Leaving the shopping cart at the cart section in the car park, Peter got behind the wheel and drove towards their destination.

After driving for two hours and ten minutes, they soon arrived at the new apartment. They all stepped out of the car admiring the new apartment. It was not a mansion, and it was not that huge, but it had a great environment. Two gentlemen were waiting on the porch to hand the keys over to Jason.

"Welcome Mr Haward, the keys to your apartment," the man said after greeting Jason and the rest.

Jason took the keys and thanked them before moving their items into the apartment. The interior wasn't that bad, and it was fully furnished.

"You don't have to rent another apartment. This apartment has two bedrooms; you can have the second bedroom," Jason said to Peter, and he acknowledged, with a smile, thanking him.

Peter helped with moving the bags and taking them upstairs to the bedrooms. Julia was going to share a bedroom with Jason and Peter had a whole room to himself. While Peter and Julia unpack items into their respective places trying to settle in, Jason takes a tour of the apartment.

From the entrance, the living room was towards the left, and straight ahead was the staircase that led to the bedrooms, which appeared to be opposite each other on the floor. The living room, dining area and kitchen occupied the same space, with the living room towards the left side of the entrance and the kitchen and dining area, very close to each other, towards the right side of the room.

Julia, after putting their clothing into the closet and their shoes in their respective places, went to the bathroom and put their toiletries in their respective places. She decided to take a shower and changed her clothes, dropping the ones she just took off into the laundry basket in the bathroom. She returned to the living room and found out that the two men also did their part in putting other things they had purchased in their rightful places. Julia quickly went to the kitchen to cook something for them to eat but was stopped by Jason.

"Let's cook tomorrow. You are exhausted, I will order takeout for supper," Jason informed Julia and she nodded.

Jason did just that and soon the doorbell rang. Peter answered, collected the food and took it to the dining area. They all sat behind the table and enjoyed their dinner. After dinner, Julia cleared the dining area with Peter helping her out.

Jason went upstairs to take a shower. He smiled, seeing what Julia had done with the room. He entered the bathroom and was equally satisfied. He changed into something comfortable and returned to the living room to find Julia standing in front of the sofa looking like she had just seen a ghost and her hand was covering her mouth. Jaon's eyes quickly moved to the TV screen, and he was shocked to his very bone.
