Judge for Yourself
Mirenda stood there in the living room not sure how to react.
"I can't believe that innocent-looking quiet girl has this in her," Mirenda commented. "How could I have been so stupid? So Jason and Julia are in this together?" she asked with shock.
"Yes, unfortunately. So you see why I want to punish him?" Mrs Haward said and Mirenda nodded in agreement.
"You and James are my top priority and I will not allow Jason to hurt any of you," Mrs Haward said and kissed Mirenda's forehead.
Just then there was a knock on the door after the elevator bell rang. Mirenda left the living room for her bedroom. A servant quickly came to answer the door and ushered in a lady.
"Ah, Barbara, you are here. Have a seat," welcomed Mrs Haward.
Barbara sat down and showed Mrs Haward something on her phone and Mrs Haward's lip curled into a broad smile as her eyes glittered like two moons.
"Good work done, Barbara," Mrs Haward said and walked her to the door.
Mrs Haward returned to the living room and sat down on the sofa watching the video with a smile.
"This video is so perfectly done. I almost believed it was real if I didn't know it was Barbara in the original video," Mrs Haward thought with a smile of accomplishment on her face.
She relaxed on the sofa and waited for the media reaction after sharing the video with her contact to make it go viral.
"Now, I have the support of all my children," Mrs Haward thought as she smiled from ear to ear. "I think I should pay my late husband a visit at the graveyard and share my accomplishment with him while bringing him a new roommate, Grandpa," she thought and smiled
"Mum, what are you excited about?" came James's voice as he entered the living room.
"My dear darling, Barbara did a good job for you. Mirenda believes in your innocence now," Mrs Haward said in a low voice. "Quick, go see your sister and act offended," she suggested, and James smiled, heading for Mirenda's room.
Back in Orlando, Jason's new apartment compound was still flooded with reporters who had refused to go away, trapping Jason, Peter and Julia inside. The social media platforms have quieted down, but these reporters are adamant.
"The reporters are still at the door," Peter said, as soon as Jason and Julia came down the stairs.
Without saying anything Jason searched his pocket for his phone. Realizing he didn't have it, he returned to the bedroom. He fetched his phone and dialled a number.
"Hello, good morning. I need your help. I have reporters at my new apartment. Please help me send them away," Jason requested.
"Jason, are you married?" came the voice on the other end of the call.
"Why do you ask?" Jason replied with a question, wondering why the sudden question.
"There is a video circulating on social media about a woman you claimed to be your wife, accusing your brother, James, of rape after seducing him," the person informed Jason.
Jason was surprised and could not respond immediately.
"Wait! Are you married?" asked the person on the other end of the call, surprised, but Jason still did not respond.
"Jason, I thought the man you called your father raised you better. He must be very disappointed in you for failing him like this. Mr Haward, God rest his soul, trusted you, and you did this to his family? Why Jason?" the person questioned, taking Jason's silence to mean he was guilty.
Jason was further lost for words and remained silent on the call as the person on the call continued to chastise him.
"I will send the reporters away but never call me again. I am very disappointed in you," the person said, and disconnected the call.
Jason quickly went online, and it was true, there was a video circulating online. He clicked on the video and was shocked. He knew immediately the video was fake. He had changed the wall partition in James's office to glass the very day he accepted James could bring his PA to work in the company. The video which showed Julia sitting on James' desk and getting down to kiss him, was in the background, the glass wall partition. He knew that it was Barbara in the video and not Julia. He didn't mind them dragging his name in the mud for some reason, but he couldn't just bear them dragging Julia into it.
He quickly searched for Julia's phone and found it on the nightstand. He sent a message to Peter about the video and told him not to let Julia see it, which Peter acknowledged.
Jason called someone from the company.
"Hello Mr Haward, glad to hear your voice," replied the head of IT.
"Is my brother at work?" Jason asked.
"No please, since you left he has not even visited this place once," the head of IT replied.
"Hope everything is fine?" asked Jason.
"Yes boss, the strategy you put in place is helping the business," the head of IT appreciated.
"Glad to hear that. I need you to help me with a video," Jason requested.
"Sure boss, just send me the date and time and I will get it for you," replied the IT guy.
Jason sent the details to the head of IT and in a few minutes, a video was sent to Jason's email address. It was the video of James when he called Julia to his office and sexually harassed her.
Without giving it much thought, he uploaded the video on his social media account with the caption; 'Judge for yourself,
After sending the video, Jason rested his head in his palm, as he rested his elbow on his knees, wondering what he had done to the woman he loved and called his mother to be hated so much by her. They may have their differences, but he respected and loved her. He recalled his childhood days. Mrs Haward would always leave him alone with the nanny, taking James and Mirenda out anytime their father was not around. It was on one such occasion, that the nanny tried to sexually abuse him.
After a few minutes of uploading the video, the social media platform went crazy as people started comparing the videos with the majority realizing the video of Julia seducing James was fake.
Back in Jason's old apartment, Mrs Haward had seen the newly uploaded video and she was already angry.
"How does he keep getting out of this?" shouted Mrs Haward upon seeing the new video uploaded which was quickly defeating the video she had uploaded.
She picked up her phone and dialled a number.
Back in Orlando, Jason was still in the room lost in his thoughts. So, because he was adopted, Mrs Haward never liked him. He wondered why he was adopted into that family. His mind quickly went to Julia, asking himself why he was also made to marry her. In his silence, he started thinking of what to do when his thoughts were interrupted by Julia
"The landlord is here. He is asking us to leave his apartment," Julia announced, her voice shaking with sadness.
