Avery heart raced as she stepped cautiously into the hidden chamber behind Ryan’s bookcase. The dim light barely illuminated the room, casting shadows on the walls and adding an eerie quality to the air. Her hands trembled slightly as she trailed her fingers along the smooth stone of the staircase, descending into the unknown.
Her breaths were shallow, her mind racing with questions. What was this place? Why was it hidden?
But nothing could have prepared her for what she saw when she reached the bottom of the staircase.
The chamber was small but meticulously arranged, every inch of its walls adorned with paintings. Avery’s breath caught in her throat as she realized they were all of her.

A chill ran down her spine as she scanned the rest of the walls. The paintings told a chronological story. There she was during her college years, thinner but still finding her confidence. Then more recent images of her as the CEO of Kane Enterprises, her face sharper, her demeanor more assured.
Her knees felt weak, and her heart pounded like a drum in her chest. She stumbled backward, her voice barely a whisper.
