The Rebirth of My Dead Billionaire Wife

Chapter 149

Ch. 149 / 300 Apr 25, 2026

The late afternoon sun filtered through the kitchen windows, casting a warm glow over the cozy space. Theo stood at the stove, sleeves rolled up and a determined expression on his face as he flipped a pan of sizzling chicken. The aroma of garlic, rosemary, and lemon filled the air, making Alessia’s mouth water as she leaned against the counter, watching him with a small smile.

“Look at you,” she teased, folding her arms. “Mr. Domestic. Who taught you how to cook like that?”

Theo shot her a playful smirk over his shoulder. “It’s a well-guarded secret. But let’s just say, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve.”

“Is burning food one of them?” Alessia quipped, raising an eyebrow.

Theo feigned offense, clutching his chest dramatically. “You wound me. This is culinary art, Alessia. You’re about to taste greatness.”

She laughed, shaking her head as she turned to the counter where she was preparing dessert. A mixing bowl sat in front of her, filled with a smooth, glossy chocolate batter. She carefully poured it into a baking dish, smoothing it out with a spatula.

“Well, Mr. Culinary Art, your greatness will have to share the stage with my chocolate lava cake,” Alessia said, sliding the dish into the preheated oven. “Because this is going to steal the show.”

Theo turned off the stove, plating the perfectly cooked chicken alongside roasted vegetables. “We’ll see about that,” he said, his tone light and teasing. “But I’ll admit, I’m impressed. I didn’t know you could bake.”

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me, Deveraux,” Alessia replied, winking. “I’m full of surprises.”

Avery sat in her high chair nearby, her tiny fists gripping a teething ring as she babbled happily. Theo walked over, crouching down to her level. “What do you think, Avery? Is Mommy’s dessert going to beat Daddy’s dinner?”

Avery responded with a loud giggle, flailing her arms as if in agreement.

“Traitor,” Theo said, laughing as he ruffled her soft hair. “I thought we were a team.”

“She knows where the real talent is,” Alessia called from the kitchen, setting the plates and utensils on the table.

Theo carried Avery over to the dining area, settling her into her high chair with a colorful bib. Alessia joined them, pouring glasses of sparkling water and setting a small bowl of mashed sweet potatoes in front of Avery.

“This looks amazing,” Alessia said, eyeing the golden chicken and vibrant vegetables. “I might have to take back my comment about burning food.”

Theo grinned as he served her a plate. “Told you. Greatness.”

As they ate, the room was filled with warmth and laughter. Avery, though too little to enjoy the full meal, happily mashed sweet potatoes onto her tray, giggling every time Theo made silly faces at her.

“Are you even eating any of that, or just wearing it?” Alessia asked Avery, laughing as she wiped a bit of sweet potato from her daughter’s cheek.

Theo chuckled. “She’s a Picasso in the making. Look at that artwork,” he said, gesturing to the mess Avery had created on her tray.

“She’s definitely creative,” Alessia agreed, shaking her head with a smile. “But you’re on cleanup duty.”

“Fair enough,” Theo said, leaning over to gently kiss the top of Avery’s head. “Anything for my little artist.”

Avery responded with a squeal of delight, her tiny hands reaching up to grab Theo’s face. He laughed, letting her tug at his nose before planting an exaggerated kiss on her cheek.

After dinner, Alessia brought out her chocolate lava cake, its rich aroma filling the room as she cut into it, revealing the gooey, molten center. She served a piece to Theo, who took a bite and immediately closed his eyes, letting out an exaggerated groan of approval.

“Okay,” Theo said, holding up his fork. “I admit it. You win. This is incredible.”

Alessia smirked, taking a bite of her own slice. “I know.”

Theo leaned closer, his tone mock-serious. “You’re not supposed to agree so quickly. At least let me think I had a chance.”

“You didn’t,” Alessia said, laughing.

Avery, meanwhile, was watching them intently, babbling as if demanding her share of the fun. Alessia scooped a tiny bit of whipped cream onto her finger and offered it to Avery, who giggled as she tasted it.

“She’s got good taste,” Theo said, watching his daughter with adoration. “Clearly takes after me.”

“Debatable,” Alessia teased, wiping Avery’s mouth with a napkin. “But she definitely loves dessert.”

After cleaning up, they moved to the living room, where they settled on the couch with Avery nestled between them. She was still giggling, her bright eyes lighting up every time Theo played peek-a-boo or Alessia tickled her feet.

“She’s the happiest baby I’ve ever seen,” Theo said softly, wrapping an arm around Alessia.

“She’s got a good life,” Alessia replied, stroking Avery’s cheek. “And a great dad.”

Theo smiled, pressing a kiss to Alessia’s temple. “And an amazing mom.”

As Avery yawned, her tiny head resting against Alessia’s arm, the room grew quieter, the laughter giving way to a peaceful stillness. Theo reached over, tucking a blanket around Avery and Alessia, his hand lingering on hers.

“This,” Alessia said softly, glancing at Theo. “This is all I need.”

Theo smiled, leaning in closer. “Me too.”
