The day had started with clear skies and warm sunlight, and the venue was shaping up to be a perfect dream. The garden had transformed into a magical wonderland with its pastel blooms, sparkling chandeliers, and elegant gold accents. Alessia, surrounded by her closest friends and family, was finally starting to relax as she got her makeup done in the bright and airy bridal suite.
But then came the first sound of thunder.
It was faint at first, barely noticeable over the hum of last-minute preparations. Alessia, seated in front of the mirror as Mia delicately applied her highlighter, froze. Her gaze shifted to the large window that overlooked the garden. Dark clouds were rolling in, and the once-bright sky turned ominous.
“Was that thunder?” Pamela asked, putting down her champagne glass as she walked toward the window.
“It can’t be,” Alessia murmured, her heart sinking. She stood up, her makeup half-finished, and joined Pamela. The first drops of rain spattered against the glass, and within moments, a steady drizzle began.
“Oh no, no, no,” Alessia whispered, pressing her fingers to her temples. “This can’t be happening. Not today.”
The door to the suite burst open, and Rachel, the wedding planner, hurried in, her hair slightly damp from the unexpected rain.
“Okay, don’t panic,” Rachel began, clipboard in hand. “We’ve got this. The team is already moving the setup under the tents.”
“The tents?” Alessia said, her voice tight with anxiety. “The ceremony isn’t supposed to be under the tents. It’s supposed to be in the garden. With the flowers and the lights and—”
“Alessia,” Rachel interrupted gently, placing a hand on her shoulder. “It’s going to be beautiful no matter where it is. I promise.”
Pamela chimed in, her voice calm but firm. “She’s right. The rain isn’t going to ruin anything. You’re still marrying Theo, and that’s what matters.”
Alessia closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. “You’re right. Okay. Let’s figure this out.”
Just as Alessia sat back down to finish her makeup, another clap of thunder startled everyone in the room. Mia’s hand slipped slightly, leaving a streak of eyeliner on Alessia’s cheek.
“Oh no!” Mia exclaimed, grabbing a cotton swab. “Don’t worry, I’ll fix it.”
Alessia tried to hold back a groan. “This is a disaster.”
“It’s not a disaster,” Pamela said, picking up her glass again. “It’s a plot twist. Every great love story has one.”
Alessia couldn’t help but laugh, though her nerves were still frayed. “I don’t know how you’re so calm.”
“Because,” Pamela said, leaning against the vanity, “I know you. You’ll pull this off, rain or shine.”
Theo’s Surprise Visit
As Mia worked to fix the eyeliner, there was a knock at the door. Zane peeked his head in, a sheepish grin on his face. “Someone wants to see you.”
“Theo?” Alessia guessed, already standing up.
Zane stepped aside, revealing Theo standing in the hallway, holding a clear umbrella. His hair was slightly damp, but his smile was as bright as ever.
“Theo, you’re not supposed to see me before the ceremony!” Alessia said, though her heart melted at the sight of him.
“I know, but I figured you might need this,” he said, holding up the umbrella. “And maybe a little pep talk.”
Alessia walked over to him, her bare feet silent on the hardwood floor. “It’s raining,” she said softly, her voice breaking slightly. “This wasn’t how it was supposed to be.”
Theo cupped her face gently, his thumb brushing her cheek. “It doesn’t matter. Rain or shine, the only thing that matters today is you and me. And I can’t wait to see you walk down that aisle.”
Her eyes filled with tears, but she quickly blinked them away. “You always know exactly what to say.”
“That’s my job,” Theo said, leaning down to kiss her forehead. “Now go finish getting ready. I’ll see you out there.”
As the rain continued to fall, the team worked tirelessly to rearrange the setup. The ceremony space was moved under a large clear tent, allowing the guests to still see the garden’s beauty while staying dry. The string lights and floral arrangements were repositioned, and rows of chairs were quickly dried and reset.
Rachel returned to the suite, giving Alessia a quick update. “Everything’s under control. The tent looks incredible. Honestly, it might even be more magical with the rain.”
“Thank you, Rachel,” Alessia said, squeezing her hands. “I don’t know what we’d do without you.”
