The Homeless Billionaire

Chapter 52

Ch. 52 / 77 Mar 12, 2026

"Can you take care of Jaimie for a little bit? I need to go to the pharmacy to get some medicine," I asked, feeling guilty for imposing on him.

Tanner looked concerned and pointed at my arm, "What happened to your arm?"

I nodded, "It's been hurting all day, and I have a slight headache."

He started to pull out his wallet, but I stopped him, "No, no, no. I still have the money from cooking yesterday. I can pay for it."

Tanner looked like he wanted to argue but ultimately gave in. He took the stroller and wheeled it closer to him.

Feeling relieved that Jaimie was in good hands, I stepped out of the house and headed towards the nearby pharmacy. As I walked, the pain in my arm intensified, and I struggled to keep going.

Eventually, I spotted the All Care Pharmacy with its bold letters and made my way inside. A young nurse greeted me with a smile from behind the counter.

"How can I help you, ma'am?" she asked politely.

"I need pain relievers and something for my headache," I explained, hoping she would understand my situation.

The nurse looked at me questioningly, and I added, "The pain relievers are for my left arm. It hurts from carrying my baby all the time."

"I see," she said as she walked over to the shelves to retrieve the medication.

While she searched for the medicine, I glanced around the pharmacy, trying to distract myself from the pain. After a few minutes, she returned and explained how to use the medicine.

"Thank you," I said with gratitude as I reached for my wallet to pay for the medication.

As I turned to leave, the nurse stopped me and smiled, "I hope someone will be with you to take care of the baby because these meds will make you sleep heavier than usual."

"Okay, thanks for letting me know," I replied before making my way back home.

As I returned from the pharmacy, I found Tanner lost in thought, and it tugged at my heartstrings. I approached him from behind and wrapped my arms around him, hoping to offer some comfort. But he stiffened and turned to face me.

"I can't ask you to stop thinking about it. It would make me a hypocrite because I still think about my marriage with Dale," I whispered, revealing my true feelings.

Examining his face closely, I saw his eyes glistening. Not with tears but it was bright with a deep emotional pain that he was trying to keep hidden. He placed his hands on my cheeks, and I rubbed my face against his palm, wishing I could take away his hurt.

"You're a kind and beautiful girl, Jasamina. I feel fortunate to have met someone like you," he said in a low tone.

"No, Tanner, I'm the lucky one. I can't even imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't met you," I replied truthfully.

He leaned in and kissed me tenderly, and it rocked me to my core. I closed my eyes and let him in, his warm tongue exploring my mouth. He held me tightly like a precious treasure, and I returned his embrace with equal intensity.

Although I lacked experience in kissing due to Dale's preferences, I did my best to reciprocate Tanner's affection.

Our passionate moment was cut short by Jaimie's loud cries, and I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment. But deep down, I knew it was what I wanted.

"Go take care of him," he whispered gently.

I nodded quickly, trying to hide my embarrassment, and ran out of his room.

After dinner, I ensured that Jaimie was settled before taking my medication. As the drugs had yet to take effect, I sat in the living room with Tanner.

He had the TV on, and I knew it was a football game, so I didn't say anything. But when he noticed me, he changed the channel.

"Put football back on, please. Don't worry about me," I said, not wanting to inconvenience him.

He smiled faintly, "You don't understand the game, and the match has already ended."

"Oh," I replied, feeling a bit foolish. We sat in silence, and I rubbed Jaimie's back as he slept. Soon, I began feeling drowsy.

I yawned sleepily. "I want to tell you about it," Tanner finally said, breaking the silence.

"About what?" I yawned again, unable to control my exhaustion.

He turned to me and studied my face, a small smile on his lips. "You're sleepy," he said.

I felt guilty, "I'm sorry. The nurse said it would make me sleep well."

"And the nurse was right," he agreed. "Take Jaimie to bed and get some rest."

"Okay. Good night," I said, getting up and lifting Jaimie onto my shoulder. I paused and looked at Tanner. "You'll tell me everything tomorrow, right?"

He hesitated before nodding once. It was enough. With a smile, I turned and walked back to the bedroom with Jaimie.
