The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 52

Ch. 52 / 80 Dec 19, 2025

Serena

The air became heavy with tension as the guy in the black cloak stepped into the dim light of the cavern. His presence cast eerie shadows on all our faces, and the flames flickered, making the walls dance with their uncertain light, revealing my startled expression. My eyes widened, caught between surprise and caution.

Damon and I fell silent, exchanging glances between us and the mysterious man, searching for answers. Ashford shot quick, puzzled glances at us until finally turning to the mysterious guy. With a little nod, he signaled for the man to reveal his true identity.

"Name's Ryan. I'm from a group called the Wild Fangs,” he said as he pulled back his hood, revealing a rugged face marked by scars and the trials of a harsh existence. The cave seemed to hold its breath as he spoke, but deep inside, our curiosity was piquing. Damon, with a puzzled look on his face, asked the question that was on my mind.

"What is this Wild Fangs group?" His question hung in the air, and Ryan's response made things even more mysterious.

"We're a group of outcasts, prisoners, and orphans of war. People without a home pack, who decided to stick together to form a community.”

My gaze flickered with surprise and curiosity as Ryan spoke. The air in the cavern seemed to thicken with every word he uttered.

“So you’re rogues?” Damon asked sarcastically.

"We are a group of people who didn't fit in anywhere else," he explained, his voice carrying a rough quality. "Outsiders, prisoners, those who lost their families in war. We are a mix of different people, but we are all connected by the fact that we have no home and had to find a way to survive. And no, we are not rogues, as we do not steal and kill wolves to survive."

The idea of a group formed by wolves who had nothing left to lose struck a chord with my own struggles. It made me remember Wolf Valley, where I met Alexei and his group. Yet, despite the connection, there was an undeniable tension in the air, a palpable unease that made me prepare for anything in case Ryan would bring us harm.

“So, what do you need from us?” I finally managed to ask.

"We heard about what happened to the Alpha Heir—”

“Previous Alpha Heir,” Damon corrected with his voice laced with bitterness.

Ryan continued. “Our leader thinks you could use some help, a refuge in our camp."

Damon crossed his arms on his chest. “And why should we trust you?”

"If you don’t want to do it for yourself," Ryan said, his voice low and steady, "at least, do it for the she-wolf beside you. Are you planning to let her stay in this cave and go hungry? Your call."

The tension in the cavern escalated as Damon contemplated Ryan's words, his suspicion evident. Ashford glanced at Damon, slowly approaching us, feeling the weight of the decision that loomed before us.

“Maybe it is worth checking out, Damon. After all, there is nothing for us here. Think about Serena’s condition. It would be best for her to eat properly in a secured community rather than stay in this damp cave and starve.”

Damon glanced at my belly, contemplating the pros and cons of the situation. Finally, he turned to Ryan, took a deep breath and uttered.

“Alright, we will come with you. But I am warning you, don’t think about doing something stupid. Else, we will break your neck. Got that, punk?”

“Duly noted,” Ryan said, smiling. “Follow me. I am sure our leader is eager to meet you.”

And so, Ryan took the lead, and we followed him. As we ran towards the camp of the Wild Fang, our hearts were filled with uncertainty. The leaves on the ground made a loud noise when we stepped on them, and it felt like the forest was watching us. Sunlight tried to come through the leaves as morning slowly approached, but it was still not bright enough to overcome the darkness looming at us.

We looked at each other, and our eyes showed that we were curious but also a bit worried. There was a heavy feeling in the air, and we didn't know why. The forest was so quiet, and we only heard the sound of our steps and some faraway birds. We kept on running, feeling like we were going deeper into a hidden world.

Finally, we reached his camp. Ryan's camp was not like the ones we knew. Tents were not in nice lines, and they looked old. The fire in the middle was gone; only the light of the embers remained. Things were scattered around - bags, tools, and strange things we didn't understand. It felt like a place where secrets lived.

Ryan walked fast, and we followed him. His face was hard to understand, making us more nervous. It was like he knew something we didn't. We kept walking, feeling like we were going deeper into a hidden world.

In the middle of the camp, there was a big open space. Ryan stopped and looked at us. The fire reflected in his eyes. We felt a tight feeling in our stomachs. It was like we were about to learn something important, something we didn't know before. The air was heavy with the unknown, and we were not sure if we were ready for what came next.

Ryan's sharp whistle cut through the air, making me tense. The flap of the biggest tent in the middle of the grounds moved, and the leader stepped out, slowly revealing themselves in the flickering light. It was a surprising moment, and our collective gasps filled the air.

We couldn’t believe what we were seeing because the man that Ryan said was their leader held the face of the wolf, similar to the very person that caused us this misery.
