Chapter 73

Ch. 73 / 80 Dec 19, 2025

Damon

Romin's sneer deepened, his eyes gleaming with a cunning spark. He poked at me, stirring up the already charged atmosphere.

"Your father? But I am your father. I didn’t steal anything from you. In fact, you owed me everything, even your life."

I felt a surge of anger and disbelief, my fists clenching involuntarily. Romin's manipulation cut deep, and the crowd's murmur intensified, torn between allegiance and doubt. His deceitful words echoed in my ears, adding a layer of personal betrayal to the growing conflict.

The crowd buzzed with confusion; conversations exchanged like hidden secrets. I retorted, a self-assured smirk dancing on my lips, "I am not mistaken, FATHER. Or should I say, Uncle Romin?"

The words lingered, like a sudden jolt of electricity zipping through the group. The onlookers wore expressions of curiosity, their eyes reflecting unspoken questions bouncing around in their minds. Some, more seasoned, pieced together the puzzle faster than others. Our silent communication conveyed volumes.

The tension thickened, and I sensed the collective uncertainty hanging heavily in the air. The revelation had lit a spark, setting off a realization among the crowd. The Blood Rose Pack held its breath, awaiting the consequences of this unexpected family revelation.

Simultaneously, Romin couldn't conceal the slight discomfort that flickered across his face. For a brief moment, a tiny reaction surfaced, swiftly masked by an air of indifference.

"What is this about, Damon?" Romin's irritation sliced through the tension. "Are you doing this because I disowned you and took away your alpha heir title? This is no longer funny."

Romin's face contorted, pretending to be kind, but I could see the storm in his eyes. The atmosphere crackled with unease as Romin attempted to deflect, but the crowd's focus remained on the unfolding drama, awaiting the truth to emerge.

Council Ed, Council Jacob, Head Warrior Jake, and ex-Delta Erik positioned themselves around me, ready to help expose the truth to the Blood Rose pack.

“People of Blood Rose,” Council Ed declared, his voice carrying authority. “We have been lied to for a very long time.”

Ex-Delta Erik stepped forward, his gaze unwavering. “Damon Sanford is telling the truth. The person in front of us is not the real Alpha Roman. Rather, he is his cunning twin brother, Romin.”

Whispers swept through the crowd like wildfire, curiosity igniting the air. A bold voice from the crowd cut through, questioning the deception.

“How did that happen? Isn’t Lord Romin supposed to have a scar on his face? That was the main identifier for the twins.”

I took a deep breath, steadying myself to reveal the truth. "Romin lied about the scar. He carried that fake mark for years, all part of his scheme to seize the throne from my father. He manipulated the pack for far too long."

The clamor in the crowd grew, a mix of confusion and support swirling in the air. I stole a quick look at Romin, the one who had been pulling the strings, now laid bare. This was the moment I'd been waiting for, an opportunity to bring justice and honor my parents’ memory.

Romin, feeling trapped and desperate, finally spoke, pretending to stay composed. "I appreciate the story, Damon. Really. However, it will take more than your words to prove your claim. Do you have evidence to support what you're saying?"

A wave of fear washed over me as I understood the heaviness of my words without any strong proof. Making my case felt like an impossible task, and uncertainty silently spread through the members of the Blood Rose pack like dark shadows.

Romin's mocking smile grew wider, a cruel expression that felt like cold hands squeezing my determination. His taunting words sliced through the tense atmosphere like a sharp knife. "Oh, come on, Damon! Don't tell me you came here with nothing but your outrageous tale?"

The air felt charged with doubt, and I could sense the audience's collective hesitation. Their hopeful looks from before now held suspicion. My throat tightened, feeling the pressure intensify as I grappled with the daunting challenge of persuading them without solid proof. Their demands for evidence echoed. I opened my mouth to respond, but ex-Delta Erik intervened, stepping into the spotlight.

“Damon may not have concrete evidence, but there's still a way to determine the truth,” he declared, eyes unwavering.

Romin chuckled dismissively. “And how is that possible?”

Ex-Delta Erik's confidence radiated as he revealed the solution. “Through the Trial of the Moon.”

The crowd hushed, curiosity flickering in their eyes. Romin's arrogant demeanor faltered for a moment, uncertainty replacing his smugness. The Trial of the Moon, a sacred and ancient ritual, was a test of truth among our kind. It was a gamble, but I clung to hope that this trial would expose Romin's deception and validate my claims of his deception.
