The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 47

Ch. 47 / 80 Dec 19, 2025

Serena

It was time for our meeting with Tori, and we were there, waiting anxiously at the quiet southern edge of the old, dense Blood Rose forest. This part of our territory had tall trees that seemed to form a green wall, making it feel like a natural fortress. The air was rich with the earthy smell of fallen leaves, and the distant animal sounds added to the enchanting atmosphere.

My heart was a sea of emotions in turmoil. My hope of seeing Tori once more and finally bringing Mathilde's malevolence to an end filled me with a mix of eager anticipation and lingering dread. The past few months had been a relentless battle against the oppressive darkness that Mathilde had cast upon me and everyone around her. I used to be a helpless victim in her presence. But now, as we waited for Tori, a tiny glimmer of hope began to flicker. Whatever she would bring us tonight would define the course of our journey towards getting justice.

Finally, Ashford, Damon, and I arrived at the predetermined meeting spot. We checked the time, still a few minutes earlier than agreed upon, and there was still no sign of Tori. We decided to take a rest on one of the large boulders at the side, tired from the long walk earlier. A few minutes passed, and Damon turned to me with a look of concern etched across his face.

“Where is Alexei, Serena? I thought he would be here before us.”

My worry deepened as my eyes scanned the forest for any sign of our missing comrade.

"Yeah, that's what Alexei told me when he went out an hour early," I replied, my voice laced with worry. "He wanted to survey the area and make sure we are safe."

The forest might be infiltrated by Mathilde's spies, and every rustle of leaves felt like a potential threat. We all knew the risk, so Alexei's initiative was something we all appreciated.

Damon nodded, comprehending the gravity of our situation. Meanwhile, Ashford chimed in, “Don’t worry about him, he will be here in a few. But we must remain vigilant. If we can, we need to be quick with this whole thing so no one would suspect what we are doing.”

Damon and I exchanged glances with each other. Ashford continued, “Tori will come; I am certain of it."

I managed a nod, although my heart was heavy with worry. The waiting continued, each passing moment feeling like an eternity as we hoped for Tori's arrival. We all knew how important Tori was to our cause. She was the one who held the key to ending Mathilde's reign of terror and bringing peace back to this pack, to myself, and to all those who fell victim to her schemes.

Ten minutes had passed since the time we had agreed to meet, but Tori was still nowhere to be found. Damon was growing impatient, his restless movements mirroring his frustration. Meanwhile, Ashford remained a steadfast source of positivity as he kept reminding us to be patient and have unwavering faith that Tori would arrive.

Tension mounted as we began to lose hope. But then, a sound of rustling leaves reached our ears. We swiftly shifted into fighting positions, our senses heightened. Adrenaline coursed through our veins as we anticipated the impending danger. My heart was pounding, and Damon positioned himself in front of me to protect me.

Suddenly, a figure in a hooded cloak appeared, like a person sneaking in the dark. The cloak hid their identity, but as they got closer, we saw it was Tori. She moved gracefully, and her cloak swayed gently with each step. In her hand, she held a white folder, but we couldn't see what was inside.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw my half-sister, and my worries started to fade away. Damon's impatience turned into a hopeful but careful outlook, and Ashford's positive attitude remained unwavering with Tori by our side. We had faith that we were getting closer to putting an end to Mathilde's oppressive rule and restoring peace to not only the Blood Rose pack but also the victims from Goldenridge, and even for me.

Tori approached the group with a subtle smile beneath her hood, her eyes revealing a mixture unknown emotion. The stage was set for a crucial exchange, and our future hung in the balance as we awaited the information hidden within the folder that Tori had brought.

“I'm sorry for being late, guys," she whispered as she handed Damon the folder.

Damon took it with enthusiasm. "No worries, Tori. We know you had your reasons." Their smiles break through the tension hanging in the air.

Meanwhile, an unexpected turn of events left me startled. Tori, in a rare display of emotion, pulled me into a warm hug. I was taken aback but touched by the gesture, managing to express my gratitude, "Thank you, Tori."

Tori's embrace tightened, and to my surprise, tears began to flow from her eyes. Tori's voice quivered as she whispered, "I'm sorry."

In the midst of this emotional exchange, Damon's eager exploration of the folder revealed an empty interior. The papers we had expected to find were nowhere to be seen, leaving a perplexed and uneasy expression on his face.

Tori took a step backward, her tears continuing to flow. Her voice cracked as she repeated, "I'm sorry. I had to do this to save Alexei."

"Tori…What do you mean?" I stammered, my mind struggling to process the shocking revelation.

Just as I grappled with the stunning news, guards seemed to materialize from the depths of the forest. Their weapons were drawn and aimed directly at us, ready to end our lives at a moment's notice. The abrupt appearance of the guards sent shockwaves through our group, leaving us defenseless and vulnerable.

“You traitor!” Damon's voice cracked with anger as he lashed out at Tori.

From the shadows, a malicious figure emerged, her presence marked by a sinister smirk. It was none other than Mathilde herself. With a chilling tone, she taunted, "Surprise, surprise!"

Regret weighed heavily on me. How had we allowed ourselves to walk right into this trap?
