The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 78

Serena

"I hereby convene the official council meeting of the Blood Rose Pack."

The moment Damon's authoritative voice echoed through the room, every pair of eyes shifted towards him, signaling the commencement of the assembly. I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride witnessing him in action, orchestrating the council with a confidence that reflected his newfound status as the alpha.

"I sent a notice to all council members on time, and it will be kept as part of today's meeting records. Lannie, do we have enough members for a quorum?" Damon asked, looking at his secretary.

She nodded in confirmation, presenting a folder containing the details of the agenda for today. I noticed that everyone already had their copies neatly arranged before Damon's arrival. As he perused the contents, Lannie began reciting the names of the council members, a routine task in these gatherings.

Even though Damon had led many council meetings before, today felt different. I could sense a subtle nervousness in my stomach, likely because of the significant decision ahead—one that involved me more personally than ever.

The reason for this was evident. Just a week ago, Damon had emerged victorious over Romin in the sacred lands of Moonlight Hills. The leadership rightfully belonged to him now, but this meeting wasn't about celebrating his triumph. Instead, it focused on the future of Blood Rose, particularly the selection of a new Luna.

The council of elders, under the guidance of Council Ed, stood united. His crucial role in Damon's recent alpha battle hadn't gone unnoticed. It was Council Ed's efforts, along with the support of our allies, that paved the way for Damon's success. Ashford, now Blood Rose's official Beta, was also present, a clear sign of the unity within our pack.

Meanwhile, Mathilde was still out of our radar. But Warrior Leader Jake was ensuring she would also be captured and brought to justice.

However, it was Damon's look at the far end of the table that held a special significance for me. His recognition of my role that night and appreciation for my miraculous actions emphasized the importance of my participation in the proceedings.

Following the roll call, Damon gave a nod to Lannie, a polite signal marking the start of the meeting's official procedures.

"You have all received the minutes of the last quarter's meeting. Any corrections to the notes presented? If not, I call for a motion to proceed."

Council Ed swiftly raised his hand, declaring, "So moved," and another member seconded the motion, paving the way for the core discussion.

"Let's move to the next order of business. We are here to discuss the future of Blood Rose, specifically to select a Luna who will best serve our empire."

The tension in the room heightened; everyone anticipated the nomination that was about to unfold.

Council Jacob raised his hand.

"It is my great honor to nominate Miss Serena Mitchell as Blood Rose’s new Luna."

As those words hung in the air, Damon's smile widened. The nomination was a formality, a confirmation of what everyone expected. Everyone thought I was the perfect fit for the role, not just because I am Damon’s wife but because they could see my potential to lead.

"Any objections?" Damon inquired, breaking the silence that followed.

The council members remained silent, their tacit approval reverberating through the room.

"If there are no objections, we only need to ask the nominated she-wolf."

His gaze shifted to me, and I met his eyes, a silent understanding passing between us.

"Serena Mitchell, do you accept the nomination to be Blood Rose’s new Luna and vow to serve its people to the best of your ability?"

I held his gaze and replied, "I humbly accept the nomination."

"I'm sorry for hurting you, Serena. I messed up big time."

His words of regret hung in the air as we sat beneath the moonlight, gazing at the stars. With his eyes closed, facing the sky, all that filled the moment was the evening breeze and the rapid beating of my heart.

I held his hands lovingly. I let him feel my warmth, my love, my understanding. Damon and I started roughly but were able to conquer the tides. Our choice to be together went beyond the fact that we were still getting to know each other, and despite being together for a short time. While it might raise questions for some, for me, it was genuine. Our love was real.

"No need to apologize. I understand. We both have our battles to fight, and I should be the one saying sorry. I turn my back on you when you need me the most."

Damon finally met my gaze under the moonlight, his eyes sparkling with love as he caressed my cheek. "I'm not perfect, Serena. I might hurt you again, knowingly or unknowingly. But despite my flaws, I'm committed to loving only you. You're the reason I strive to be better each day. You've made me a better wolf, and I promise to keep choosing you, no matter what challenges come our way."

Overwhelmed, I embraced him, grateful for his love and understanding. His acknowledgment of imperfections and commitment to improvement spoke volumes about his character, deepening my love for him.

Damon held my chin, tilting my head. Before I knew it, his lips met mine. Eyes closed, I let the cold wind sweep away my fears, cherishing the moments that strengthened our bond.

I knew this was just the beginning, but I wasn't afraid. With Damon by my side, I believed we could overcome anything.

And so, I hope.
