The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 37

Ch. 37 / 80 Dec 19, 2025

Damon

As our lips finally parted after that electric kiss, I couldn't help but touch Serena's soft cheeks with my trembling hands. There was an intense quiet, and Serena managed to utter a simple word. "Hi."

A soft chuckle escaped my lips, and I replied, "Hello."

Serena's gaze shifted to the dwindling fire crackling in the hearth from the window. "Alexei might get upset if the fire dies out again. Let me fix that first. I don’t want to upset an already irritated man," she remarked, her voice soft.

I glanced at the firewood in her arms and realized what she was about to do before I arrived. Seeing that another man was spending the night with her inside the cabin, I couldn't help but feel a hint of jealousy creeping in. I nodded, my expression turning serious as we entered the cozy cabin.

Serena noticed the change in my demeanor and might have realized what had dampened my mood. With a reassuring smile, she explained, "Don't worry about Alexei, for he already found his mate. We are just good friends. Ashford, too. We were both saved by him and his group when rogues hunted us back in Goldenridge forest."

That reminded me of Ashford's story from last night. So, Alexei went with them as well. Knowing my best friend, Ashford might have wanted to return the favor. He might have brought Alexei here to provide whatever they might need in return for him saving him and Serena.

"Now, I remember. He was the guy that Ashford talked about last night. What a great wolf, he and his team."

Serena saw the relief in my eyes, and her smile grew warmer.

Emerging from the kitchen, Serena cradled a warm cup of coffee in her hands, presenting it to me. It was then that I noticed the scars etched across her palms and fingers. Those faded marks spoke of untold battles and hardships she had endured. A rush of sympathy swept over me, a profound understanding of the struggles that had punctuated her life.

As I enjoyed the coffee, I couldn't help but sympathize with Serena. It was clear that she carried the weight of her difficult past with incredible strength and resilience. Just think about it - when your own family works against you, it must have been really painful. But Serena showed herself to be a strong and brave person, facing all of it with determination, and I couldn't help but deeply admire her for that.

Quietly, in my thoughts, I spoke to my wolf companion, "Did you notice those marks, buddy? Serena has been through a lot in life."

"Yeah, bud," Romulus replied. "She's a tough lady."

Romulus's eyes seemed to show that he understood, and in that moment, I promised myself and my wolf that we would do whatever we could to make Serena happy. Then, I remembered something that brought a smile to my face, realizing it would bring joy to Serena.

"I know you've been missing someone a lot, someone you care about like family. Shey Mitchell?"

I got Serena's attention, and her face was filled with worry. "What happened to Shey? Is she okay?"

"Relax, Serena. Shey is perfectly fine," I reassured her, and she let out a sigh of relief. "But I know where she's staying, and I'd be happy to take you to see her."

“Really? You can do that? Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!”

Serena's radiant grin in response sent a rush of desire coursing through my veins, and I couldn't resist pulling her close for another passionate kiss.

Our lips met in a fiery embrace, the taste of the coffee lingering on both of us, enhancing the electric sensation that flowed between us. The kiss intensified, a mingling of desire and longing that left us both breathless.

As our lips came together, a tingling sensation rippled through her body. My hands cradled her face, enhancing the kiss's intensity. Our lips moved with a gentle urgency, in perfect sync. In that very moment, nothing else existed - no worries, fears, or thoughts of the past or future. All that remained was the fiery passion and electric connection of our kiss. It was a memory I knew would linger in my heart, a moment that would endure long after our lips had parted.

But then, I remembered something.

I hesitated for a moment, torn between preserving the intimate moment we shared and the pressing need to disclose something significant to Serena. Reluctantly, I ended the kiss, understanding the importance of what I had to say.

Serena looked disappointed and I understood why. I wanted to punch myself in the face for leaving her hanging but I had no choice. This couldn’t wait anymore.

“Serena…I…” I struggled to form my words.

Her curiosity got the best of her, and she asked, "What is it, Damon?"

With a growing sense of urgency, I finally made up my mind. As I gazed into her eyes, I felt the weight of the revelation I was about to make, and with unwavering determination, I responded,

"It's about Remus, one of my spirit wolves."
