The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 36

Ch. 36 / 80 Dec 19, 2025

Serena

I awoke to the enticing scent of coffee enveloping the cabin. The warm aroma pulled me from my slumber. When I stepped outside, there was Ashford, working his culinary wonders, whipping up a breakfast feast that danced with tempting flavors. Ashford noticed me as I closed the door behind me.

"Morning, Serena," Ashford greeted with a warm smile, the sizzle of bacon in the background.

"Good morning, Ashford," I replied, savoring the rich aroma of brewing coffee. "Smells incredible in here. Where's Alexei?"

Ashford's eyes twinkled as he flipped a pancake. "Oh, Alexei's out back, taking out his frustrations on some firewood."

I chuckled, taking a sip of the steaming coffee. "I see. Should I be worried?"

Ashford laughed heartily, the sound filling the cabin. "No worries, he just needed an outlet. He'll be back in no time."

I nodded content to sip my coffee and enjoy the tantalizing scents swirling around me.

Ashford leaned in, a glimmer of anticipation in his eyes, and whispered, "Damon will be meeting you tonight." His words hit me like a bolt of lightning, leaving me momentarily speechless. I held back my surprise and chose to remain silent.

Ashford probed further, his voice soft but insistent, "Excited?"

I hesitated, torn by the whirlwind of emotions that had swept over me since the mating ritual. Doubt clouded my vision of the future.

Ashford noticed the conflict in my eyes and leaned in, concern etched on his face. "Serena, are you alright?" he asked gently.

I sighed, my emotions in turmoil. "I don't know, Ashford. So much has happened, and I'm just not sure about what's to come."

He nodded knowingly, his expression understanding. "It's natural to feel that way, especially after what you and Damon had been through. But remember, it's your journey, and you should embrace it on your own terms. Let destiny lead the way with Damon."

I managed a faint smile, grateful for his guidance. "Thank you, Ashford. I needed to hear that."

With those words, I turned my attention back to my breakfast, the flavors mingling with my thoughts, which swirled like leaves caught in a gentle breeze.

That morning, I decided to make myself busy by doing what I knew that I was good at, cleaning. I spent the next hours dusting the shelves, sweeping the floor with an old broom, and washing the dishes by hand to make use of my time here. The soft swish of the broom against the floor and the gentle clinking of dishes were comforting, grounding me in the simplicity of these tasks. It gave me a moment of peace I desperately needed.

I fidgeted with my hands as I set the final cleaning supplies aside. The shed was now immaculate, every nook and cranny gleaming with newfound cleanliness. But my mind remained cluttered with thoughts of my impending meeting with Damon. The lingering feeling of excitement and anxiety made my whole body restless.

I tried to collect myself, taking a deep breath, determined to enjoy our time together and embrace whatever feelings would come. I couldn't deny that there was something special between us, something that had been growing steadily like a quiet flame in the night, but I couldn't quite put a label on it. Adding to that were the complexities of the recent events, making me question everything I knew I about him.

My heart beat a little faster and hoped that tonight would bring some clarity to the mix of emotions I'd been feeling for him. The moment felt like the beginning of something significant, and I was ready to explore whatever path our hearts might lead us down.

And then, nightfall descended upon us.

Ashford summoned Alexei to accompany him outside, hinting at his intention to give me and Damon some private time.

"Alexei, mind joining me for a moment outside?" Ashford's voice held a hint of mystery, drawing Alexei's attention.

Alexei's forehead creased, "Sure! Is it something important?"

I caught Ashford's subtle wink, knowing his true purpose. "It's just a quick trip to the pack house. You know, pack business."

Alexei grinned, eager to visit the place he knew where his mate was. "Of course, Ashford. I'll be right there.”

Ashford turned to me, his voice dropping to a hushed whisper. “Good luck meeting your prince tonight. I'll make sure to give you and Damon enough time to do...you know...catching up."

My cheeks flushed crimson in embarrassment as I grasped the not-so-subtle message behind his words, leaving me feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement.

As the two men departed, I remained within the cabin, the warmth of the fireplace dwindling to a soft glow. A quick glance at the dying embers prompted me to venture outside in search of firewood.

Out in the open, the crisp night air embraced me, and I couldn't help but follow a tantalizing scent carried by the breeze. It drew me closer, my heart pounding in anticipation. Each step filled with the excitement that flowed through my veins. The scent was a song of desire, a mix of emotions woven together in a smell. My heart raced, as if it tried to sync with this captivating aroma, beating in rhythm with the unknown promise ahead.

Suddenly, he emerged from the shadows, sprinting toward me with a magnetic pull that neither of us could resist. Without hesitation, we embraced, our lips locking in a fervent kiss that spoke volumes of the emotions we dared not put into words.
