With nothing much to do, Mia kept one eye on the clock, trying to make sure she wasn't late in picking up Sam's lunch and bringing it to him. She could still feel his touch on her skin and wished she had something to do to take her mind off of him, but other than browsing the Internet and counting the seconds down to picking up his lunch, she had nothing to keep thoughts of what he'd done to her body off of her mind.
A knock at her door drew her attention. Beau didn't wait for her to answer before he stuck his head in. "Hi. How are you?"
Mia's face lit up. She loved seeing him, even if she still had his brother's scent on her body. She remembered what had happened the night before in the hot tub, how she'd wanted him to take her, and he'd refused, but she didn't feel embarrassed by it. She understood that Beau was a gentleman and just wanted what was best for her. The same could not be said for his brother, but that was also okay with her... in an odd way she couldn't quite explain.
"I'm good," Mia said in response to his question. "How are you?"
"Fine. I was just thinking... it's Friday. Do you want to go out and do something tonight?"
Mia perked up at the thought. She'd love to go out with Beau. "What do you have in mind?"
"I don't know," he said with a shrug as he leaned back next to her against his desk. He smelled so good, and the touch of his leg against her hip took her back to the night before. "What would you like to do?"
Mia had an idea, but she wasn't sure what he'd think about it. She decided to feel him out anyway. "Do you know any good clubs?"
Beau raised an eyebrow. "That scene is really more of Sam's terrain, but yeah, we can go to a club if you want to."
"Cool," Mia said, smiling at him. She had heard of one downtown that seemed like something she would like, but she wasn't sure what it was called. She supposed she may as well let him figure out exactly where they might go.
"Have you seen Sam today?"
Beau was trying to make it sound nonchalant, but she could hear the questions he wasn't asking in his tone. "Yes," she said with a shrug. Her nipples were still sore from the sucking Sam had done, but that didn't mean she wouldn't do it again if he asked her to.
"How... was it?" Beau asked her.
Mia stared at him for a moment, not sure how she should answer. "I, uh... it was fine."
He wanted to know what she'd been asked to do, but she knew he wasn't going to come right out and ask her, and she certainly wasn't going to tell him. Not only was she not allowed to speak about what went on behind closed doors in Sam's office, she couldn't imagine trying to tell the man she was interested in dating the sort of reaction his own brother was capable of getting out of her body.
"Are you sure you don't want to quit, Mia?"
There it was-that question again. Why did everyone keep asking her that?" "Beau... I can't quit. Even if I wanted to. Not that I do. Please, stop."
"I'm sorry. I know we've talked about this before. I'm just concerned. I don't think you know exactly what you're getting yourself into."
"I'm pretty sure I do." That wasn't true. She had no idea how far Sam might go. He'd spoken of mingling pleasure and pain, and she'd gotten a touch of that today. But she didn't think he'd do anything to actually harm her.
Beau sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Fine. But if you change your mind at any time, I'll pay Sam back, Mia. And I'll make sure you have a job and anything else you need."
"I appreciate that, Beau, but I didn't come here for a handout." She was about to say more when she caught a glimpse of the time. It was 11:59. "Oh, shit! I'm going to be late!"
She pushed her chair back from the desk and ran toward the reception area as fast as she could on her heels, which wasn't that fast, all the while cursing underneath her breath that she'd let Beau distract her, and now she was going to be late taking Sam his lunch. She knew she'd be punished; there was no way she could get it there on time. She wondered what her punishment might be like.
The food was waiting for her. The receptionist laughed as she snagged it off of the counter. "Good luck," she said, but it was clear that's not what she meant at all. Mia wanted to flip her the bird, but she didn't even have time to shoot her a dirty look.
When she returned to her office, the door to Sam's was open, and she could hear Beau inside trying to reason with his brother. "I'm sorry, Beau," Sam was saying. "I don't care why she's late. I don't care whose fault it is. Rules are rules."
"Sam...."
Beau stopped when he saw Mia coming in. The clock on the wall behind Sam's head said 12:01. She was late. "Mr. Whitaker, I have your lunch. I'm so sorry I'm late."
Sam stared at her for a long moment, and Mia had to drop her eyes. "Set it on the table and then come back to receive your punishment."
"Yes, sir," she said, a shiver going down her spine at his tone.
"Sam-" Beau said again, but he was cut off.
"Beau, I'll ask you to leave now so that I can deal with this employ. Shut the door behind you."
Beau caught her eyes as Mia was turning from setting Sam's lunch on the table where he usually ate. She shook her head slightly, and he sighed. He wanted to save her, but she didn't want to be saved.
Turning on his heel, Beau stormed out, shutting the door behind him.
Sam swiveled in his chair, and Mia stepped forward, standing across from him where she'd been earlier that day when he'd given her the day's first assignment.
"Are you ready for your punishment, Mia?" Sam asked, his voice a growl.
"Yes, sir," she said, glancing up at his eyes only briefly.
"Good. Then take off your clothes."
