Chapter20: Touching Her

Ch. 20 / 62 Apr 02, 2026

Still confused about her encounter with Beau, Mia sat at her desk and waited for Sam to summon her. She had a feeling it wouldn't be too long. She'd worn an outfit similar to the one she'd worn her first day, though this pencil skirt had gray vertical stripes, and she had on different shoes. Dressing that morning, she'd found herself hoping Sam liked it.

But she'd also been thinking of Beau. They'd been on the verge of moving things along in their relationship the night before. She had a feeling he would've wanted to take her to bed if she hadn't alerted him that something was different about her. Part of her wished she hadn't said anything at all. Sharing her first time with a man like Beau would be heavenly.

What about Sam, though? What if he touched her first? Heaven wouldn't be the right word for that sort of an encounter. But it would be memorable, that was for certain. As much as she craved being with a gentle, sweet man like Beau, she also wanted to be commanded by a man like Sam. Beau's caresses had been soft and enticing. She imagined Sam's would be forceful and demanding. How could she want both at the same time?

Mia didn't know the answer to that question, but she did want them both nevertheless.

She hadn't been sitting there long when the red light came on. She'd seen that Sam wanted lunch brought to him today, so she'd set an alarm to make sure to order it, and then she'd been called to his office.

Every time the red light came on, her heart lurched into her throat and a nervous excitement overtook her. She imagined it was like she was about to commit a crime, even though there was truly nothing wrong with what she was doing, not really. Because he was her boss, it felt that way. It wasn't acceptable for a secretary to be treated that way by her boss, not according to most people, anyway. And it was that element of the taboo that made her body pulsate with energy each time the light went off.

Mia knocked on the door and waited to be called in before she punched in her code and entered. "Good morning, Mr. Whitaker," she said as his eyes trailed up and down her body, pausing on the curve of her breasts longer than anywhere else.

"Good morning, Mia," Sam said, his green eyes narrow slits. "I heard you had a good time with my brother last night."

Mia raised an eyebrow. Had Beau spoken to him? Had he told her what they'd done? It was just kissing, after all.... "We had a nice time watching the basketball game together."

He stared at her for a few minutes, and then a chuckle escaped his lips. "Come sit down, Mia," he said, gesturing at the chair across from him.

She did as he asked, smoothing her skirt out and keeping her legs together. It would be difficult not to in the tight pencil skirt even if he asked her to spread her legs as he had the other day.

"You like him, don't you?"

Mia nodded. She couldn't deny that she had feelings for Beau.

"But you like me, too, don't you? In a completely different way."

She studied his face for a moment, not sure how to answer. It wasn't the same at all. She wasn't sure "like" was the right word for how she felt about Sam. She wanted him, but did she like him.

Still, he was her boss, and she couldn't hardly say she didn't like him. So, she found herself nodding again.

Sam ran a hand along his chiseled jaw. If he'd shaved, he hadn't done a close job of it. Mia wondered what that rough hair would feel like, scratching against her sensitive flesh. He leaned across the desk, his elbows in the center of the wooden structure and said, "You want me to touch you as badly as I want to touch you."

Her head rocked back and forth of its own accord this time, before she could even consider attempting to stop it. Oh, yes. She wanted him to touch her, and to hear that he wanted to touch her, too, even though she already knew that, had her body vibrating again.

"Stand up," he said in a sultry, commanding tone.

Mia did as she was told, wondering what he'd do to her.

"Close your eyes."

Her eyes followed his order before she could process the statement. Standing there, in the dark, she listened as he opened a drawer in his desk and then pushed back his chair. She heard his footsteps and then the scent of him announced his arrival. Her eyelashes fluttered, but she didn't dare disobey him by opening her eyes.

He slipped soft fabric over her eyes. It was a blindfold, like a sleep mask. The satin fabric was soft and inviting, but she didn't let her guard down as he walked around behind her.

Mia could feel his breath on her neck , the scent of spice and the woods coating her lungs with every inhale as his unique scent overcame her. Sam made a soft, moaning sound behind her ear, and she let out a stuttered gasp.

His lips brushed against her neck so softly, she might not have even realized he'd kissed her if she hadn't been so in tune with her body at the moment. The second kiss was harder. With the third, she felt his teeth graze her neck and bit down on her lip. It didn't hurt, but it was unexpected. So was the reaction she had to it-a tightening in her core.

He reached around her then, and even though he wasn't touching her, the tugging on her shirt let her know he was unbuttoning her blouse. The top three buttons were already unfastened. Now, at least two more were open as well. She remembered the sensation of Beau touching her through her clothes the night before and how she'd stopped him. Was Sam about to touch her now? It seemed that way. She wouldn't stop him even if she wanted to.

But she didn't want to.

Again, his first touch was so light, she hardly felt it. The brush of fingertips on lace. Her head tipped back slightly. As he increased the pressure on her breast, her head tipped more, and her mouth fell open. Her body felt alive in a way it never had before. She felt herself hardening beneath his touch, even though her bra was still a barrier between them.

He found her nipple through the lacy fabric and teased it, making it even harder beneath his expert fingers. A whimper escaped her lips as he pinched and pulled, mixing pleasure with pains in ways she'd never known were possible. She wanted him to slide his fingers beneath the fabric and touch her skin.

But he didn't. Sam withdrew his hand, his breath lingering on her neck. He stepped away, leaving her standing there, wanting more.

"Rebutton your shirt," he said, and Mia did, fumbling with the buttons with shaking hands. "Take the mask off."

She did that, too. He was behind her, over by the window. She didn't know what he might ask her to do next, so she just stood there, hoping there would be more. The ache between her legs was becoming all consuming.

"Put the mask on my desk and go."

Disappointment washed over her, but she had no choice but to do as he asked. She set the mask on his desk and headed to the door, not looking at him as she did so. Because if she did, he'd see how badly she wanted him.
