Pregnant Billionaire Heiress Gave Birth To Twins

They won't let him

Ch. 219 / 286 Apr 29, 2026

Jethro was confused about who they were talking about and how the person was related to what was happening. His father was dying, and they were busy talking about an irrelevant person.

“And what exactly does this so-called Vanessa have to do with the situation at hand?” He asked. His sharp gaze was fixed on Sylvester. “Why is her name even coming up right now when we are talking about my father’s life?”

"I didn't start the topic. He started it." He said, pointing at Desmond.

"Why did you go on to explain when you know it's not necessary at this moment? Because while you are busy throwing accusations, you haven’t once provided a single solution. You have done nothing but stand there and talk against Desmond. So tell me, Sylvester, what have you done today to actually save my father?”

Sylvester opened his mouth, about to respond, but Jethro didn’t let him. He turned to Desmond instead, exhaling sharply before making his decision.

“Desmond, at this point, I don't care about what you had with my sister in the past or the disagreement between both of you. This is not the time for this. You guys can continue later. If you are sure you can do something to help my father, do it. I don’t care about the history between you and Anabel. I care about my father surviving.”

Anabel became angry as she heard Jethro say that. "So you don't care about me? You don't care about the heartbreak he caused me?"

"There is time for everything, Anabel. You need to erase it from your mind. See him as a helper, and not the brat you knew. We need his help at this moment."

"I don't blame you. Yeah, I don't. You are saying all these things because you are not the one under my shoe. He needed to leave here."

"He's not going. I will let him do something. Maybe a miracle can happen." Jethro said.

“Are you being serious right now?” She snapped. “You would actually let him touch Dad? Can you even hear yourself?”

Sylvester stepped forward, fueling her outrage. “Anabel is right,” he chimed in, shooting Desmond a smug look. “How could you possibly trust him? He’s not even a doctor! He has no business being here.”

Desmond remained silent. He wasn’t going to defend himself against Sylvester or continue to exchange words with him. Not when there was a man fighting for his life right in front of them.

"Can all of you stop arguing?" Lady Orton interjected. "If Desmond can heal him, let him do it. I… I just want my dear husband to get well. If I lose him, I won't have another husband again. Whatever happens, whatever decisions are made… all I ask is that he gets well.”

The nurse stepped forward and looked up at Anabel pleadingly. “Anabel, please,” she said gently. “You may not want to listen to him, but I saw him handle a case like this before. He’s not a doctor, no—but he knows what he’s doing. Trust him.”

Anabel shook her head sharply, refusing. “It doesn’t matter how much experience you say he has. He is not touching my father. I don't trust him. Let him go,” Anabel replied, and just then, the door to the room swung open, and Dr. Maxwell stepped inside.

Everyone turned, and his eyes immediately landed on Desmond. Jethro wasted no time in introducing Desmond to the doctor.

“Doctor,” he said quickly, and gestured toward Desmond, “this is Desmond. He is here.”

“I thought I said he is not needed here. What is wrong with all of you? You want to put this hospital in trouble? Who told him to come?” He asked authoritatively, and Jethro straightened his stance. “I asked the nurse to call him.”

"As the owner of the hospital? Or the son of the president?" He asked. "Listen to me, Jethro, this is a hospital and not one of your father's companies. I do not support this, and I will not allow it. He should go back to wherever he came from.”
