My Cruel Alpha

chapter 24

Ch. 24 / 30 May 06, 2026

POV Luella

Tobias smiled with the confident cruelty of someone who believed he'd already won. "Let me explain how this is going to work," he said, twirling the poisoned blade between his fingers.

He's enjoying this. He wants us to know how clever he thinks he is.

"Luella's death will be staged as suicide from heartbreak," Tobias continued conversationally. "The tragic bride-to-be, driven mad by her unnatural attraction to her fiancé's treacherous brother."

He's planned every detail. Every lie he'll tell.

"Your mate bond will serve as perfect evidence of magical influence," he said to Kyrell. "Everyone will believe she was corrupted by dark magic, driven insane by forces beyond her control."

He's going to use our love as proof that I'm crazy.

"And you, dear brother," Tobias turned his cold smile on Kyrell, "will be executed as a traitor who used forbidden magic to seduce and corrupt an innocent woman."

The perfect story. The grieving prince who lost his brother to madness and his bride to tragedy.

"I'll assume the crown as the sole surviving heir," Tobias concluded with satisfaction. "The kingdom will mourn with me as I rebuild from this terrible tragedy."

Years of planning. All leading to this moment.

But as I listened to his confident explanation, I felt something unexpected through the mate bond. Kyrell's strength wasn't just returning—it was growing. Fed by our connection, amplified by our shared determination.

He's underestimated us. He thinks we're still broken.

"Any questions before we begin?" Tobias asked mockingly.

"Just one," Kyrell said, his voice stronger than it had been since our imprisonment. "Did you really think torturing us would make us weaker?"

Something's changing. I can feel power building through our bond.

Tobias's smile faltered slightly. "What do you mean?"

"Trauma either breaks you or forges you into something stronger," I said, standing beside my mate. "And you just forged us into steel."

Our bond isn't just sharing emotions anymore. It's sharing strength, power, everything.

The mate connection that had been a source of torment during our separation had become something far more powerful. I could feel Kyrell's movements before he made them, could anticipate his attacks, could coordinate with him perfectly.

We're not just two people anymore. We're one force with two bodies.

Tobias raised his blade, but we were already moving. Kyrell's shadow magic erupted from him with devastating force while I struck from the opposite side with enhanced speed and strength.

We don't need to plan. We just know what the other will do.

The poisoned blade went flying as Tobias stumbled backward, his confident expression replaced by shock and growing panic.

"This is impossible," he snarled. "You should be weak, broken—"

"We were," Kyrell said, shadows coiling around his fists. "But you made the mistake of leaving us together long enough to heal."

Our bond is stronger than he could have imagined. Stronger than even we knew.

Tobias pulled a horn from his belt and blew a sharp blast. Within seconds, guards poured into the dungeon—but not ordinary guards. These moved with supernatural speed and strength.

He has other allies. Other magical resources.

"Kill them both," Tobias commanded. "Make it look like they died fighting each other."

Even now, he's planning the story he'll tell.

But as the enhanced guards attacked, Kyrell and I moved as one. His shadow magic created darkness while my enhanced senses guided us through it. Where I struck high, he struck low. Where he defended, I attacked.

We're perfectly synchronized. Like we've been fighting together for years.

Our escape became a running battle through the castle corridors. Tobias's carefully laid plans crumbled around him as we fought past guard after guard, our combined abilities proving far more dangerous than either of us alone.

He never expected this. He thought he could control us forever.

"Stop them!" Tobias screamed, his perfect composure completely shattered. "They cannot reach the great hall!"

The great hall. Where the court is gathered. Where people will see the truth.

But we were already moving toward our destination, cutting through his forces like they were nothing. The mate bond didn't just coordinate our movements—it amplified our individual strengths until we became unstoppable.

This is what we were meant to be. Not broken, not controlled, but united.

As we fought, Tobias revealed the true extent of his corruption. Guards with magical enhancements, courtiers who'd been bribed or blackmailed into loyalty, magical artifacts stolen from the royal treasury.

All of this was planned. Years of building his network of control.

"You don't understand," Tobias shouted as we overwhelmed another group of his allies. "I did this for the kingdom! I made the hard choices no one else would make!"

He actually believes that. He thinks torture and murder are justified.

"You did this for power," Kyrell replied, his shadows tearing through magical barriers like they were paper. "Everything else is just lies you tell yourself."

My mate sees through all of it. All the justifications and excuses.

We reached the main staircase leading to the great hall. Behind us, Tobias's forces regrouped for one final assault. Ahead of us lay the court, the King, the chance to expose the truth.

This is it. The moment everything changes.

"Together?" Kyrell asked, taking my hand.

Together. Always together from now on.

"Together," I confirmed.

Whatever happens next, we face it as one.

Through our mate bond, I felt his love, his determination, his absolute certainty that we could overcome anything as long as we stood united.

He's right. Together, we're unstoppable.

We burst through the doors of the great hall, our combined power blazing around us like a beacon. The assembled court gasped as they saw us—bloodied but unbroken, united in a way that couldn't be denied.

Let them see the truth. Let them see what real strength looks like.

Behind us, Tobias appeared with his remaining forces, his perfect mask completely gone, replaced by the snarling face of a cornered predator.

Now everyone will see what he really is.
