Melissa said to Amelia, "It was necessary for her to know Auntie; please forgive me."
Rosalie was still reeling from the news.
"Why is he doing this? Why is he punishing my family? I just don't get it," Rosalie said, wrapping her arms tightly around her mother.
Melissa sighed. "He's doing this because he's angry about losing you. Since your father let you go with Alex, He is taking out his anger on them and Martin, too," Melissa added. "He's been given guard duties instead of his beta responsibilities."
"Enough, Melissa!" Amelia said it sternly. "We shouldn't worry about ourselves. What we should be concerned about is the pain Chris and Grace are causing the rest of the pack."
Rosalie's face was twisted with anger. Could it be that the peace they had enjoyed was about to end because of Chris ? If Alpha Anderson heard about Chris mistreating Grace, he would not stay quiet. He would surely take action.
"Could Chris be trying to provoke Alpha Anderson?" Rosalie wondered aloud.
"Stupid, egotistical mutt!" Melissa cursed.
"I think he's trying to get the Anderson pack to attack first." Rosalie stopped mid-sentence, realising the seriousness of the situation. She quickly covered her mouth to keep from saying more.
Melissa nodded. "And the rest of the pack will be forced to choose sides."
Rosalie's move to the Greystone pack was supposed to make her life easier, but she had it all wrong. She had hoped for a carefree and happy life. But now, with tensions rising between the packs, she realises that her decision might have put her in the middle of a dangerous conflict. Looking at her mother, she noticed the dark circles under her eyes. She had never seen her mother look so exhausted. Guilt weighed heavily on her. She crouched down, resting her head on her mother's knees.
"Mum, please don't go back to the Silver Moon pack," she pleaded through her tears. "Stay here. Alex would let you join the Greystone pack."
Her mother gently stroked her hair with a sad smile on her face. "Honey, there's no need to worry. Your father would never give up without a fight."
"Mum! Even after everything Chris has done to you, you still stand by him. Chris is awful!"
Rosalie begged her mother to stay, but she knew it wouldn't happen. No matter how bad their Alpha was, wolves were loyal.
Her fists clenched as she thought about running back to the Silver Moon pack to confront Chris. The idea of beating up Grace was even more tempting. Grace had the nerve to bully her parents after they had welcomed her. Rosalie took a deep breath, trying to calm the anger boiling inside her.
"Melissa?" Rosalie called, seeing the sadness in her friend's eyes.
"Please stay," Rosalie urged.
"I can't stay, Roselie. We were allowed to visit you because we begged," Melissa said, a tear rolling down her cheek. "The pack is suffering, and if we leave, Chris would be even more ruthless. I have to go back and try to protect them," Melissa explained, her voice full of determination.
Rosalie felt Melissa was hiding something.
"We won't be seeing you again after this," came a voice from behind. Rosalie turned to see her father. She ran to embrace him, tears streaming down her face.
"What do you mean, dad ?" Rosalie asked, feeling a sense of dread creeping over her. Her father's eyes were filled with sorrow as he whispered.
"We can't visit you again, Roselie. The Alpha has ordered it," he said.
Melissa scoffed. "More like forced it."
Rosalie tried to keep her feelings in check, but Alex sensed her anxiety. He wanted to comfort her, but he had to wait until her family left.
"Does this mean I will never see you again?" Rosalie whispered through her tears.
"We weren't supposed to tell you this," her father said firmly. "Chris forbade us from saying it. But I'm smarter than him. I know how to break some rules," he added with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Rosalie couldn't help but smile, realising where she got her rebellious streak from.
Even though she hated the idea of leaving her family behind, she couldn't force them to stay. If she did, the arrogant Alpha might start a war. She knew a conflict was inevitable, but it was better to delay it. Starting a war when the troops were unprepared was not wise.
She shared her worries with Alex, who nodded in understanding. He took her hand, regret in his eyes.
"I will get your family into my pack as soon as it is safe. Don't worry," he assured her through their mental bond.
"Dad, I am sorry; you are suffering because of me." Rosalie's eyes were filled with tears as she thought about the sacrifices her family had made for her.
"Silly girl !" her dad laughed. I wrapped her in a comforting hug.
"You are not to blame for any of this. Yeah, you were a bit reckless, and I was disappointed when you and Alex mated. But at that time, I wasn't aware of the complete truth." He broke the hug.
"I didn't know that Chris had rejected you and that you were hurting so much. I should have been more understanding and supportive." Rosalie wiped away her tears, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders.
"On top of that, he wanted to keep you as his mistress and dishonour our family."
Scott's eyes glowed gold with anger.
"I swear I would have killed Chris or died protecting you if he had laid a finger on you."
He took a few deep breaths to calm down.
"You deserve better than that, Rosalie. I'm glad you found the strength to walk away from that toxic situation. Your happiness and well-being are what matter most." Rosalie nodded.
"I love you, Dad," she said, grateful for his understanding and forgiveness.
"I love you too, Rosalie," Scott replied, his voice filled with emotion.
"Don't worry about us. I want you to be happy. Chris will have to either mend his ways or face the consequences of his actions."
Rosalie nodded.
Alex saw the emotional scene and decided that it was a good time to step in and ask them to stay longer.
"Scott and I have discussed a plan. They will be safe. Trust me."
Rosalie smiled through her tears.
"I would like you to attend the party tonight. I hope that you can put aside your worries for a little while and enjoy yourself," Alex said warmly to Scott.
"Sure, why not? Chris gave us permission to visit. He never mentions what time we have to return." Scott said, winking at Alex.
