Mated by Mistake

Alex is thrilled

Ch. 53 / 77 Apr 22, 2025

"Alex, we need to talk." Rosalie looked like she was going to explode with good news. She had dashed over to him as soon as he arrived.

Sarah grinned at Rosalie and added, "I guess I'll see you later." Rosalie nodded her head in agreement.

Alex looked at Rosalie with a bewildered expression on his face as he peered at her. "What's going on?"

"I have to tell you something." Rosalie stammered.

"Why are you flushing so much ? Did you get into trouble ?" He tenderly stroked her face with his hand. If it was possible, she appeared even more gorgeous when she blushed.

She closed her eyes and almost purred as she leant into his warm fingers.

"I'm pregnant," Rosalie finally confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. Alex's eyes widened in shock, but then a smile slowly spread across his face.

He was at a loss for words for a while before sniffing her neck; it was no surprise that she had a unique odour. Her odour had shifted. How could he have missed it?

"That's amazing news." He grinned, and as he pulled a strand of her red hair and twirled it between his fingers, he spoke. " This is the best gift you can ever give me, love."

She mumbled in a weak voice, "The healer thinks there's more than one pup, two... possibly more." Her voice shook.

He couldn't believe what he was hearing and screamed, "We're having twins?" as his eyes widened in surprise.

She gave a friendly grin and nod. He encircled her in his arms and gave her a peck on the cheek before exclaiming, "Oh, my goodness! I'm looking forwards to seeing the pups. Things are about to get a lot more interesting." He laughed.

She took a long breath and tried to feel his enticing scent, despite the fact that it had already been ingrained in her mind. Because he was hers, her life was perfect in every way. It was difficult to imagine that she had achieved more in her life than she could have ever wished for. It was the moon's way of ensuring that he would have a loving partner and, hopefully, just two children on the way.

"How am I going to manage?" She whispered.

"Love, you'll be a fantastic mommy. I'll help you care for the babies, regardless of how many we have." He laughed.

"I'm going to be huge, bloated, and unattractive!" She grumbled.

"You will always be beautiful; I can't wait to see you carry our babies to term. Hold them in my arms." He kissed her neck, nibbling on her mark, and a moan escaped her lips. There was no lessening of his desire for her body. That was for sure.

Alex then proceeded to tell her about his travels and meetings with the other Alphas when they broke apart from their embrace. Even though Chris was obsessed with his plan to take her away, there were enough measures to not let that happen.

"You have moved the feast date?" Rosalie asked when Alex told her about it.

"Yes, and the timing couldn't be more right." He said this while gently caressing her slightly bloated belly.

Even though pregnant female werewolves were stronger than human females and could easily run and battle even while carrying their young, it was important for them to exercise extreme caution, particularly in the early days of their pregnancies. So Alex had changed the dates of the feast.

"Hmmmmm, what did you tell the other alphas? to change the dates?" Rosalie asked.

"I made up a story about how you broke your leg when you lost your balance and jumped off a rock boulder while seeing the estate with your betas. They all knew how careless and naughty you could be. They believed that silly lie. I couldn't believe it!" He laughed.

Rosalie hit him on the chest playfully, laughing. "Come on, I am not that bad!"

When he placed a kiss on her forehead, he remarked, "I love you for being mischievous because it keeps life interesting."

They relaxed on the living room couch. Rosalie lay down with her back to him as he put his hands around her tummy. She didn't feel any morning sickness, but she was always sleepy, and while she had occasional stomach cramps, the pain was manageable. She snuggled up close to him as she laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes to sleep.

"Tomorrow I will order some samples and ideas for the nursery." Ales said it with enthusiasm.

Roselie opened her eyes and sat up. "So soon ?"

"Of course, we don't have much time; the pups will be here in 4 months !"

She smiled, feeling grateful for his excitement and involvement in preparing for their baby's arrival. Ales nodded, his eyes shining with anticipation as he reached for her hand.

Rosalie and Alex sat on the living room couch of their cosy home, surrounded by paint samples, furniture catalogues, and stuffed animals.

Alex picked up a paint sample, squinting at it with a dubious expression. "Honey, what do you think about this colour? It's called 'Moonlit Meadow.'"

Rosalie burst out laughing, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Moonlit Meadow? It sounds more like a perfume than a paint colour!"

"Well, it’s either that or ‘Butterfly Kisses.’" Alex raised an eyebrow, trying to keep a straight face. "Apparently, paint companies have a thing for poetic names."

Rosalie shook her head, still giggling. "I swear, they come up with these names just to make us laugh. Let's stick with something simple like light blue or pale yellow."

"Good idea," Alex agreed, tossing the samples aside. "Light blue it is. Now, about the furniture."

Rosalie interrupted, holding up a catalogue with a dramatic flair. "That's the most adorable crib I’ve ever seen. It even has little stars carved into the sides!"

Alex leant in to take a look. "It’s cute, but are you sure it's sturdy? We don’t want our little one to end up on the floor."

Rosalie gave him a playful shove. "Of course, it’s sturdy. Look, it even has five-star reviews."

"Alright, you win," Alex conceded, chuckling. "What else do we need? A changing table?"

"Definitely," Rosalie said, flipping through the catalogue. "And maybe one of those rocking chairs for late-night feedings."

Alex laughed, picturing the scene. " That sounds like a good idea. We should also consider getting a baby monitor for when we're not in the room." Rosalie nodded in agreement, adding it to their list of nursery essentials.

As they continued browsing, Rosalie's eyes landed on a stuffed animal that looked like a tiny, fluffy wolf. She picked it up and held it out to Alex, her eyes shining with mischief. "What about this for our little pup?"

Alex took the wolf and made it do a little dance. "Our future alpha-in-training needs a loyal companion, after all. This will do perfectly."

Rosalie giggled.

They spent the next hour debating the merits of various baby monitors, arguing over whether to get a mobile with woodland creatures or ocean animals, and laughing at the absurdity of some of the baby products.

"You know," Rosalie said, resting her head on Alex’s shoulder, "this was a lot more fun than I expected. But we still don't know if we are having a boy or a girl "

Alex kissed the top of her head. " Does it really matter? As long as our baby is healthy and loved, that's all that counts."

Rosalie smiled, feeling grateful for the love and support of her mate.

They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, imagining the future with their baby. Then Rosalie’s stomach growled loudly, breaking the silence.

Alex laughed, patting her belly. "Sounds like someone’s hungry. Are you craving anything special ?"

Rosalie perked up. "Now you’re talking! I want some spicy food, like Indian or Thai food."

Alex chuckled, "Spicy ? I think our baby is going to be on the wild side, just like their mum."

Rosalie grinned. "I can't wait to see what our little one will be like," she said, feeling a surge of excitement. Alex wrapped his arm around her.

"I've got to go, love. I have to send the new invitations to everyone. Just tell Estela to send you whatever you want to eat."

Rosalie nodded, feeling grateful for Alex's thoughtfulness. "Thanks, babe. I'll make sure to let her know," she said as she watched him leave the room.
