Emma’s POV
I didn’t know why I said yes.
Maybe it was the way Logan looked at me, like he was daring me to say no. Like he already knew I wouldn’t. Or maybe I was just tired—tired of fighting him, tired of fighting myself.
Either way, I found myself in his car, the hum of the engine filling the silence between us as we drove into the night.
He didn’t tell me where we were going, and I didn’t ask. I just stared out the window, watching the city lights smear into streaks of gold and white. My pulse was still uneven, my skin still warm from what had happened in his room.
Logan’s fingers drummed lightly against the steering wheel. “Relax, Em. I’m not kidnapping you.”
I snorted, arms crossed. “Could’ve fooled me.”
His low chuckle filled the car, and I hated that it made something twist inside me.
When he finally pulled over, I blinked at the view in front of us. We were on a secluded hill, the entire city sprawled out below us, glittering with thousands of tiny lights. It was breathtaking.
I let out a slow breath. “Wow.”
Logan cut the engine, leaning back in his seat. “I come here when I need to get away.” His voice had lost its teasing edge—softer now, almost thoughtful. “Helps me think.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You? Think? That’s new.”
He smirked, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Funny.”
Silence settled between us, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. It was thick, heavy with something unsaid. I should’ve been relieved. But then he turned to me, his gaze dark and unreadable.
“You know, everyone thinks they know me,” he murmured. “The bad boy. The player. The guy who doesn’t care about anything.”
I swallowed. “Logan—”
He shook his head, cutting me off with a sharp jerk of his chin. “But it’s like... no one wants to see past that.”
I stared at him, my stomach twisting into knots. I’d never seen him like this before—never heard him sound so vulnerable, so damn human. It was like he actually cares what people thought of him.
And then he exhaled sharply, running a hand through his messy, dark hair, and muttered, “Except you.”
“You’re not like them, Emma,” he said, his voice dropping to a husky whisper that sent shivers down my spine. “You... see me.”
My breath hitched. And then it happened. Oh. my. God. It happened again.
Logan leaned into me, his body pressing into mine like he was claiming the fucking space around me. His hand slid up to cradle the back of my neck, his fingers tangling in my hair, pulling just enough to make me gasp. His other hand gripped my hip, his fingers digging into my skin through the fabric of my jeans, hard enough to leave bruises. And then his lips were on mine, hot and demanding, devouring me like I was his last meal.
Logan’s POV
I wasn’t even sure why I was telling her this.
So I kissed her.
And fuck—it was slow and deep and everything I shouldn’t want but did anyway.
I dragged my hands up her back, feeling the way she trembled under my touch, the way she tilted her head to give me more.
I was so gone for her, and she didn’t even realize it.
But then she froze.
Pulled back, breath uneven, eyes too wide.
I knew what was happening.
She was scared. Not of me—but of us.
I could’ve pushed. Could’ve pulled her right back into me, kissed her so hard she forgot why she was afraid.
But instead, I just traced my thumb over her cheek.
“It’s okay,” I murmured. “I’ll wait.”
Even though waiting?
Was going to fucking kill me.
