Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 215

Ch. 215 / 231 Apr 27, 2026

Giovanni's Perspective

I sat on the couch in the living room, a cigarette dangling from my fingers, my eyes staring blankly out the window. Through the floor-to-ceiling glass, the fading light of the setting sun bathed the courtyard, and a faint serenity lingered in the air. But I knew this calm was merely a brief pause before the storm. Today, I had made a decision—a decision that could change the dynamic between Fern and me, or perhaps alter everything completely. I exhaled slowly, watching the smoke curl and dissipate, my mind a tangle of conflicting thoughts.

Daniel stood before me, his eyes burning with hatred and disdain. Despite his youth, there was a sharpness to him, an unyielding resolve that belied his age. I wasn't surprised; I had known for some time that Daniel possessed a resilience much like his mother's—a strength that never wavered, even in the face of danger.

"You can take me away," he said, his voice cold, "but you'll never be forgiven by her."

I didn't respond right away. Instead, I looked down at the phone in my hand, silently calculating my next move. I had already called Fern, asking her to come over. She had no idea that I'd brought Daniel home, or that I had made such a decision. She thought this was just a normal meeting. But I knew it couldn't be that simple.

"You dare to threaten me?" I chuckled softly, my voice calm and low. "You're just a kid—you don't understand anything."

"I know more than you think." Daniel's gaze was intense, his eyes hard with resolve. "You won't be forgiven by her. And you won't get another chance to hurt her again."

I stood and stretched, casually dropping the cigarette butt into the ashtray. Then, I walked over to Daniel, leaning down to face him. He was even more unruly than I had been at his age. "If you're not strong enough to protect your mother right now," I said with a light tone, "then let her come to me with the problem." My words carried an unmistakable threat.

Daniel gritted his teeth, his eyes full of hostility. He was angry at my condescension, at the way I treated Fern as a pawn to be manipulated. I knew he was silent now, but that didn't mean he had given in.

"You'll never get another chance to hurt her." Daniel's voice was firm as he straightened, his fists clenched, ready for a confrontation.

I wasn't annoyed by this. I simply smiled, a faint, knowing smile. "You can believe that, but reality will give you the answer." I ignored his anger, returning to the couch and sitting down, calmly waiting for Fern to arrive.

The tension in the air was palpable. Daniel seemed trapped, his anger building with nowhere to go. He knew he couldn't resist my power, and the oppressive feeling only made him angrier. I, too, realized that nothing about this situation could be changed today.

For a moment, my gaze drifted, and I found myself looking at Daniel. Despite his youthful anger, there was a toughness and confidence about him that seemed beyond his years. It was a quality that unconsciously drew me to him—a connection to something deep within me.

I slowly stood and walked over to him, slipping my hands into my pockets. "You know, son, as much as you hate me right now, your mother never made it easy for me." A flash of mixed emotions crossed my face as I spoke, not accusing him, but talking to him as if he were an adult, with an almost detached calm.

"You're right," Daniel spat, "my mother never allowed you to hurt her."

I smiled slightly, my expression turning colder. "Her motherly instincts made it impossible for her to bear your betrayal and pain." My voice dropped lower, more menacing. "But she's not the only one who can't handle it. You, like her, will sacrifice everything for love." My gaze deepened, as if I could see straight through him.

Daniel didn't respond, lowering his gaze and pressing his lips together.

At that moment, the doorbell rang. I looked up, my gaze darkening. I stood, walked over, and opened the door to find Fern standing there, her eyes filled with disbelief and suspicion.

"What brings you here?" I asked lightly, my tone still carrying an air of indifference.

Fern hesitated, a flicker of unease crossing her features. "You said there's something you need me to take care of?"

I nodded slightly, my eyes flicking behind her to where Daniel stood. I let out a quiet breath, my gaze thoughtful. "Come in, Diana. We have things to discuss." My voice was firm, commanding.

Fern paused, frozen for a moment, before taking a deep breath and stepping inside. Her eyes unconsciously shifted to Daniel, her expression turning complex, shocked. "How did you bring him back?" Her voice wavered slightly, betraying her shock.

I walked back to the couch, sitting down with an air of authority. "I've brought him back. It's time we face the issues between us, Fern," I said, my voice flat, but with an undeniable strength.

Fern's gaze flicked from Daniel back to me, anger and pain flickering in her eyes. "Do you know why I hate you so much right now?" she asked, her voice low but thick with indignation. "Do you have any idea how hard I've worked to protect him?"

I said nothing, my expression calm as I met her gaze. I knew that all the misunderstandings and conflicts would have to be resolved eventually, but I wasn't in a hurry to reveal everything. Instead, I kept my cool, waiting for the right moment.

The air grew heavy once more, and the three of us fell into a long, uncomfortable silence.
