Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 210

Ch. 210 / 231 Apr 27, 2026

Daniel's Perspective

I thought nothing special would happen today – or at least, that's what I originally believed. But as it turned out, I misjudged how the day would unfold. And that's how life often works—always teaching you an unexpected lesson when you least expect it.

In the plaza of the amusement park, sunlight filtered through the swaying trees, filling the air with laughter and the tempting smells of food. People were buying cotton candy from the booths, jumping on trampolines, and shouting with excitement as they zipped by on roller coasters. I moved along with the crowd, step by step, almost as if I were trying to leave the mundane behind—without even realizing it.

Giovanni, Finn, and I stood at the entrance to the park, and despite knowing I didn't really belong here—not with the joy that seemed to surround me—I couldn't help but look around. My gaze drifted from one attraction to the next, my insides fluttering with anticipation, like a child with no cares in the world.

"Well, Daniel, have fun today," Fern said, her voice gentle, yet laced with an almost imperceptible hint of anxiety. She glanced at me, as if eager to wrap up the day quickly, so she could return to her own world.

But today, I felt different. I knew I wasn't as carefree as I appeared. In fact, my attention was fixed on one person—Giovanni. His very presence stirred a simmering anger inside me. It was an anger born from the hurt he had once caused my mother, Finn. No matter how much he tried to soothe her wounds, I would never forget the pain he had inflicted.

Today, however, my plan was set into motion.

I glanced at Giovanni, who stood there with his usual calm expression, his eyes as gentle as ever, as if nothing in the world could ever shake him. His gaze swept over me with a hint of curiosity, as though asking what was on my mind, this small, quiet teenager.

"Daniel, what do you want to do today?" His voice was as steady as always, carrying that subtle authority of his.

I met his eyes and gave a slight smile, but inside, my mind was already made up. Today, I was going to make him feel something different. Even a small prank would be enough to satisfy me for now.

"I want… to try bungee jumping." I raised my voice deliberately to see how he and Finn would react.

"Bungee jumping?" Finn said, his surprise evident. A flash of concern crossed his face. "That… might be a bit dangerous, Daniel. Maybe you should think twice."

I lowered my head and looked at the tips of my shoes, feigning innocence. "It's fine with me, Mom. Everyone else seems to be having fun. Giovanni, you're not afraid, are you?"

Giovanni smiled slightly, his calm demeanor unchanged. "I'm not afraid," he said softly. "But are you sure you can handle that kind of excitement?"

I knew his response was exactly what I had expected. Giovanni had never known fear—at least not the kind that would stop him from trying something like bungee jumping. For him, it was just a small challenge. He wouldn't understand that what I was planning today wasn't about thrills; it was about revenge.

Fern looked at me, her concern growing, but she eventually sighed and nodded. "Alright. Since you insist, I'll wait with you and make sure you stay safe."

My heart was in my throat. Finally, it was my turn to set my plan in motion.

"Giovanni, let's go!" I couldn't wait to head toward the bungee jumping platform, waving my hand in what I hoped was a casual manner. What gleamed in my eyes wasn't just the curiosity of a teenager facing the unknown—it was the anger that had been festering for so long. The feeling of being suppressed, now finally finding an outlet.

I never imagined I'd be on the same level—literally the same level—as Giovanni in this situation. My eyes were fixed on the towering cliffs, my heart racing with a mixture of excitement and exhilaration.

"Are you ready?" Giovanni asked suddenly, his voice low and carrying a hint of challenge. His sharp, calm gaze met mine, those deep green eyes filled with a quiet confidence—as if this challenge was nothing to him.

As we approached the bungee platform, my heart couldn't help but race. The staff greeted us warmly and started to fit us with our safety gear. I noticed Giovanni's gaze linger on me a little longer. He was starting to grow cautious, as if he sensed something was off.

I didn't care what he thought. I moved deliberately, slowly positioning myself behind him. The staff were focused on Giovanni, giving me the perfect opportunity to discreetly reach down and remove the final pull ring from his back—the critical device that would prevent a fatal accident due to equipment failure during the jump.

I knew full well I wasn't going to hurt Giovanni—he was a werewolf and could withstand any physical pain. But this time, I just wanted to scare him. I wanted him to feel an unspeakable fear, just as his mother did in the beginning—that feeling of being dominated by his own deepest pain.

"Okay, ready," the staff said, snapping me out of my thoughts as they began strapping Giovanni in.

Acting as if nothing had happened, I leaned in closer and winked. "Giovanni, are you scared? You'll definitely fall faster than I will, won't you?"

Giovanni glanced back at me, the corner of his mouth lifting into a confident smile. "Of course I'm not afraid," he said casually, his tone as relaxed as if we were about to take a walk, not stand on the edge of a cliff, ready to jump.

He smiled slightly, his gaze lingering on me. "I'm more worried about you. Will you be scared?"

I knew he was doing it on purpose. Giovanni was always so confident, approaching everything in a way that made it seem like he was in total control. I, on the other hand, was standing on the edge of the cliff, my thoughts consumed with how much of a mess he'd be when he finally fell.

"No," I replied lightly, but inside, my heart was racing.

After a few seconds, the staff confirmed everything was ready and gave us the final cue.

"You guys can start whenever," one of them said, throwing us an encouraging look before stepping back.

"Come on, don't just stand there like an idiot," Giovanni slapped me on the back, his voice full of encouragement. "You'll feel like you're flying once you jump."

Giovanni and I shared a look, an unspoken understanding passing between us. We both knew this challenge wouldn't be easy, but there was no turning back now. I smiled silently to myself as my heartbeat quickened, and I finally couldn't resist. I leapt.

The instant I jumped, adrenaline flooded my body. I felt the wind slicing through me like a blade. Speed, gravity, vertigo—all the sensations hit me in an overwhelming rush. But amidst the chaos, there was no fear. All I saw was Giovanni's face, calm and detached as if he were watching some irrelevant show.

As I neared the ground, a violent sense of weightlessness seized me, and I plummeted downward. Then—everything was still.
