"At least you two will enjoy it," Laura said to Brooklyn and Harry.
"Hmm," Brooklyn forced a smile, "we'll see."
"Well, dinner was great, but we've got some studying to do-"
"Now you want to study?" Brooklyn said, cutting Harry off.
"Yes." Harry stood up and looked at Brooklyn.
"Thank you for the food," Brooklyn said to Laura and stood up, elbowing Harry when he wrapped his arm around her as they walked away. "What time is it?" Brooklyn asked when they made it back to Harry's room.
"A little after 7," Harry said and walked over to his wardrobe.
"What are you doing?"
"Well, I'm not sitting here studying all night, so I'm going to the gym, and you're just going to ask me when you get stuck on questions," Harry said and lifted his shirt over his top, changing it to vest top. "Get your books and shit." Harry changed his trousers and pulled on a pair of sweats.
"Am I not staying here?" Brooklyn wondered.
"I need something attractive to watch while I work out," Harry shrugged and picked up some of Brooklyn's books. "Come on, lets go, babe."
"What if I don't want to study at the gym?" Brooklyn asked, raising a eyebrow.
"You don't get a choice."
"But this bed is looking very comfortable-" As soon as Brooklyn sat down Harry grabbed her hand and pulled her up. "Hey!"
"Take this," Harry handed Brooklyn her school bag, "and let's go."
"What makes you think I want to watch you work out?" Brooklyn wondered.
Harry gave Brooklyn a look. "I don't need to be in your head to know that you do."
Brooklyn narrowed her eyes and shoved her bag into Harry's arms. "You can carry my things then."
"You're lucky you're you," Harry muttered and rolled his eyes as he walked out of his room.
"What does that mean?" Brooklyn asked as she followed him out.
"It means that if you were anyone else I probably would have hurt you by now," Harry said. "Really hurt you."
"That's comforting."
"I would never," Harry said seriously.
Brooklyn looked up at Harry. "I'll hold you to that."
"I," Harry whispered and stopped Brooklyn. He grabbed her waist and pulled her close. "Couldn't ever dream of laying a hand on you. You know that don't you?"
Brooklyn blinked. Did she trust Harry? "I know," she whispered. She did trust him. Every inch of her body trusted him. Even when she wouldn't want to, she knew she would.
Harry nodded and carried on walking through the pack house. They soon made it to the gym and Brooklyn sat down on the floor, scattering her books out in front of her. She changed her position so she was lying on her front, and she picked up her pen and looked at her French textbook. She spent less than a minute staring at it before closing it and choosing another subject.
Harry smirked and chuckled ever so slightly from across the room. His hands gripped the weights without even looking. His eyes were on Brooklyn, who currently was oblivious to his gaze.
Her eyebrows furrowed when she looked at her math book and she bit her lip. "What does..." Brooklyn stopped mid sentence when she saw Harry's muscles flexing. "I... you-"
"Words, babe," Harry called, "try and use them."
Brooklyn narrowed her eyes. "Never mind."
"Brooklyn, what is it?" Harry said.
"What the hell is an isosceles triangle?" She asked. "I can barely spell it let alone know what it is."
Harry blinked and cocked his head. "I don't think I realised how truly terrible you were at maths."
"Hey!" Brooklyn snapped. "Not all of us are smartasses!"
Harry walked over to Brooklyn who was lying in front of her books. He crouched down in front of her and looked at her book. "You see that there," Harry pointed to the book and then explained the question to Brooklyn. He watched as she frowned, clearly not understanding it.
"I get it," Brooklyn said.
"Don't lie," Harry scoffed. He chuckled slightly and turned the page. "Try another question." Brooklyn focused on her math and Harry went back to working out.
After a while Brooklyn scowled. It seemed she never seemed to study well when she was with Harry. His back was to her currently and she titled her head to the side as she watched him. He pushed strands of his blonde hair away from his face and then got in the push up position.
"It's rude to stare, babe," Harry called.
"Then I'll be rude," Brooklyn shrugged.
Harry smirked slightly and bent his arms, easily lowering himself into a push up. "How's the math going?"
"I've moved onto art."
"You don't even study art."
Brooklyn looked down at her notepad that was covered in doodles. "Then I am damn well should."
"Is there any subject at school that you're good at?" Harry asked. Brooklyn narrowed her eyes at this, but she knew he didn't mean it as an insult.
"Art."
Harry rolled his eyes.
Brooklyn rested her chin on her hands. "You make it impossible to study. Somehow you manage to distract me. It's an annoying talent you have."
"Don't blame me, babe," Harry said while doing so many push ups it made Brooklyn's arms ache.
"I am blaming you," Brooklyn said.
"Read a question you don't understand," Harry said with a sigh. "Let's see if I can help."
"Nope, I'm giving up!" Brooklyn declared and pushed her books away. "I hate school."
Harry chuckled slightly and stood up. There was a sheen of sweat over his bare chest that was rising up and down quickly. He picked up his vest top that he has regarded rather quickly into working out and walked over to Brooklyn.
"Shall we go back?"
"Please get these books out of my sight," Brooklyn muttered and scrambled up. Harry helped her pack up her things and then they walked out of the gym. "Harry?" She said while they walked through the house.
"Yes?"
"So, you're the Warrior of this pack, right?" Brooklyn scrunched her eyebrows. It felt so strange to talk about werewolves.
"Right," he nodded.
"So, you're a good fighter then? Quick?"
In a second Harry had Brooklyn pinned up against a wall. She had to blink a few times to regain focus. "Yes, babe, I'm quick," he whispered. "I'm strong." He gripped Brooklyn's upper arms. "And I'm the best fighter this pack has."
"Why do you need to be able to fight?" Brooklyn wondered, her eyes flicking from his lips to his eyes.
Harry's hands travelled to Brooklyn's neck and he tangled his finger in her curls. "Because there's dangers in this world," he murmured. "People like me and Greyson can protect our pack," he said. "We can protect the people we care about."
"Dangers?" Brooklyn said. "Like what?"
"If you wait until Oscar comes then I think we might find out," Harry said.
"You don't care," Brooklyn said suddenly. "Do you?"
"Care about what?"
"Anyone, anything," Brooklyn said. "You're moody, Harry, you're mean. Who do you want to protect?"
"I do care for my pack," Harry said. "Just because I don't show my emotions, Brooklyn, doesn't mean I don't have any. It's my job to protect my pack. I do care. And I definitely care about you." Harry's eyes darkened. "I'd drop everything to save you."
Brooklyn raised her eyebrows. "Anything?"
"I do care about my pack, but I'd do anything for you," Harry said. "You're what's important to me."
Brooklyn blinked. "I..."
"I love that I can take your breath away," Harry murmured. "I can make you stop your stupid rambling."
Brooklyn raised her eyebrows. "Excuse me? Stupid? I do not ramble, especially not stupidly. And you can't take my breath away, sometimes I just... breathless so I take a moment to, you know, breathe. So, my silence isn't you taking my breath away, it's just me pausing to breathe. I'm sorry I want to breathe, but I don't want to die-"
"Shut the fuck up," Harry groaned and kissed Brooklyn. She gasped and immediately found his tongue with hers.
"Oh, kiddies, not in public!"
Harry pulled away from Brooklyn and turned to look at Kal who had spoken. "Kal," Harry growled.
"Don't growl at me, Mr! You're the one putting on an inappropriate display of affection! There could be children walking around!" Kal wiggled his finger and Harry and Brooklyn. "Shame on you."
"Fuck off before I hurt you."
"Again, there could be children around!" Kal called. "Language!"
"You're the only child around here!" Harry growled and stepped forward.
"You're just a delight to wind up," Kal grinned, clapping his hands like a teenage girl.
Brooklyn bit her lip to stop a giggle.
"I don't know what you're laughing at, missy," Kal said. "I can smell your arousal from across the house- you're not setting a good example for the younger generation."
"Kal!" Brooklyn gasped. "What the hell, that's disgusting!"
"It's coming out of you, not me," Kal shrugged and smiled innocently. "And it's totally natural, but totally inappropriate, considering you're in the hallway of a public house."
"Go kind a sock and make your hand busy," Harry called and grabbed Brooklyn, pulling her away from Kal. "Stop bugging people who actually have a sex life!"
"Low blow!" Kal yelled as Harry and Brooklyn disappeared up the stairs.
"He's quite the character," Brooklyn said when they made it back to Harry's room.
"He can be a pain in the ass," Harry muttered and walked over to his bathroom. "I won't be long, I'm having a shower."
Brooklyn nodded and made herself comfy on Harry's bed. She busied herself with her phone and laid down on Harry's bed.
When Harry had finished his shower he walked out with his towel hung low on his hips, and saw Brooklyn asleep on his bed, her phone discarded on the pillow next to her.
Harry dressed quickly and then laid down next to Brooklyn, distracting himself by playing with her curls. She sighed softly in her sleep and snuggled closer to Harry. He smiled slightly and wrapped his arm round her, loving the way she made the tingles appear all through his body.
Harry stayed next to Brooklyn until his hearing heard a knock at the door. *Harry, come down,* Greyson said through mind link.
*We're on our way,* Harry said and gently shook Brooklyn awake. "Babe," he whispered, "wake up."
Brooklyn groaned.
"Brooklyn, Oscar's here."
